I asked to AGAIN speak with a supervisor. After waiting for 1 hour 27 minutes (stupid me) with her coming back on the line every so often to assure me that the supervisor was coming, she disconnected the call. I guess that was her way of letting me know that a supervisor wouldn't be coming after all. Right back at you AT&T/DirectTV. I have been a loyal customer of directv for over 7 years. Have always had nothing but great things to say about the company. Well that all changed. My contract is up Sept 5. I set up a new plan to extend the contract and the woman says I have made the note in your account On Aug 7. Call back within the same month 2 weeks later and they said it's not valid and we have no promos for you. I have been with you 7 years. The cable industry is cut throat right now with streaming and your going to let a customer go just like that. If you are ever in a situation where you signed a contract with DIRECTV for an additional 2 years cause you thought the new genie service was worth it. Think again. DON'T. I didn't expect to move so I said okay let's sign on for a 2 year contract to get these new genie boxes. First of all there was no benefit to this new service and I think it was worse than my old HD box and then I got a new new job and had to move and then discovered the new apartment is set up for cable not DirectTv. So I call and say hey I didn't want to discontinue service but have to. What do you think happens? I am told I have to pay $360 to discontinue for no fault of mine. And no they cannot do anything about that. You're tough out of luck. And no they do not have an office that you can walk into - smart. They probably want to protect their people from the stress of dealing with people who just spoke to their clueless customer service team in Alabama (did that really make me feel better? Speaking to someone in Alabama. You guessed it - Dealing with unhelpful people creates the same level of frustration whether they are in the US or not) Did I mention that I have been with DIRECTV since 2011? Dont do it! Direct TV is terrible. Goes out all the time. I lose channels that I pay for & the customer service blows. They have contracts you can't get out of without paying. I've spent so much time trying to get resolution to service/ dish issues & they never document anything regarding service issues so you have to tell your story multiple times to every person they switch you to. Buyer Beware!!! I signed up for Directv through Verizon. Apparently they could not do a credit check at the time??? So they said I had to give them a $300. deposit, which unfortunately, I did.. They said I would get a credit of $5. a month, which I did, of course they got it right back in the form of a monthly sports fee. (For the record, I never watch sports!) Right from the start the bill was more than I was quoted, by the end of 24 months (the length of my plan) it was pennies short of $50. more! When I called to cancel my service I was told the balance of my deposit was non refundable ($180.00) and that they sent me an email telling me so when I signed up. Well I have no idea where they sent that email because I never received it? I do know that no one ever said this to me when I signed up! (I was taking notes of everything I was being told at the time. I wish I could add a picture, I could show my notes.) I was never told the balance of my deposit would be non refundable!!! I think they intentionally tell people they can't check their credit so they can charge them a deposit. They're a rip off!! read more

I ordered DirectTV services in Sept 2014 at a price of about $41 per month. From day one, my service was spotty, on demand wasn't on demand as it took almost an hour to download a 1/2 hour tv show and the service went out quite a bit. I was told that this is a normal speed to download a show, ALMOST AN HOUR? I called tech support many times and they sent someone out that replaced my boxes. Once that was done, my problems continued and did not improve at all. So many more calls and more time wasted (all while now paying over $80 a month for services due to an increase), I was told that the problem was my internet speed through Verizon. In talking with Verizon, they told me that i already had very high speeds of 75/75 so there was plenty to work from but I chose to upgrade to 100/100 to see if my service would improve. It did not. On one call, I was sent to a special tech team in Dallas that checked my speed and was told that my internet speed was great but that my issues with the service was just normal for DirectTV and there was nothing they could do. After months of calling and talking to tech support, my last call to them was to disconnect. I was told by Customer Support that since the service was consistently poor, I could cancel without the early termination fee that they said I was supposed to be charged from my contract, NOTE - I did not have a contract. I never signed one and when I asked for a copy, they could not supply it. So I cancelled, returned my boxes, removed my credit card info from my files and moved on, taking the word of the rep who said that the charges would not occur. Today, two months after canceling, i looked in my bank account and low and behold, they charged me $358.68 early termination fee. When i called to have the money refunded because there was not supposed to be a charge, I was told "sorry, its a valid charge" and when I asked again about getting a copy of "the contract I signed" they now said it was a "verbal one". So, not only was I not supposed to be charged, the access to my account was not authorized for any more withdrawals from DirectTV as I had removed this information the day I cancelled. I called the bank and filed a dispute and per the rep, apparently I am not the only one that this has happened to. Now i'm in business and I have to say, we've never charged customers for anything that they couldn't use because of it being a poor product, let alone gone into anyone's account and just taken money. That would be stealing and a fraudulent transaction. If this is how DirectTV has to stay in business by stealing, lying and not backing their products, so be it but I will certainly be filing every complaint, posting to every site on the internet and telling everyone I meet my experiences and I can guarantee that DirectTV will lose a lot more than $358.68 in business because of it. BUSINESS ADVICE TO DIRECT TV - PUT YOUR EFFORTS INTO MAKING A BETTER PRODUCT INSTEAD OF SPENDING ALL OF YOUR TIME FIGHTING THOSE THAT CANCEL BECAUSE OF YOUR POOR SERVICE. The worst decision I ever made. Comcast was expensive but there were no issues like I have now. I placed a phone call to order service and explained that I have 5 televisions. Price given was $89.00 then after 3 months bill would be $120.00. Sounds great. Installer came in and told me I needed two of the "stand alone" boxes if not one of the televisions would be blacked out. So I call and after sitting on the phone for over 30 mins. I get the box ordered. 2 weeks no box. I call back again talk to 4 different people. Box is ordered again. For a shipping fee of $19.00. Fine whatever. New box shows up. Wrong box. Call again now there's a $199.00 charge for the box. That's the first problem. Next the $157.00 bill comes due. Wait it's only supposed to be $89.00. Then $120.00 after 3 months. So here we go again. 45 min. Phone call the bill gets lowered when I say I want to cancel. It's $240.00 cancellation fee. So I decide to stay with direct tv because the bill was in fact lowered. New bill comes in today $101.00. Well $199.00 for a new box because of their screw up. So I toss in another $40.00 and go back to Comcast. Not the best deal but at least my televisions will work. I'd give this negative stars but that's not possible. Att stick with cell service. Don't make the same mistake I did. Stay away from direct tv. Bad service. A ton of hidden fees. Good luck read more

These people are scumbag liars! I got a call from them offering reduced pricing and offered me $90 per month for TV and Internet. They said I would be charged $1 to activate my service. After the call I asked "Am all that is coming out of my pocket today is $1" and the person said YES. Five minutes later there is a $1 deduction from my account and then another $60 deduction. I immediately called and I was told by ATT Direct TV "Oh that wasn't us that was our Internet provider" Really after you told me only $1 was going to come out of my account. I was transferred to Viacom the "Internet provider" and they said that it's their policy to charge $60. I told him that wasn't my policy!! And I wanted my money back. I was then told the $60 would automatically be removed in 24 hours its just to open the account. I told them to cancel my account and they said....It will take 24 hours. This company takes money deposits it into their account and then returns it...wow scum! Stay away!!!!!! read more

This is the ABSOLUTE WORST and most frustrating experience that I have ever had. I am still in disbelief over the level of complete incompetence associated with DirectTV on every level, from the equipment to what they call "customer service." To begin, my dish was not installed properly or in the correct place, and my service was not activated properly. Found out the next day that this was a contracted tech, with multiple customer complaints resulting in legal action that DirectTV continues to use, despite being fully aware of all complaints and his utter incompetence. Had to get a different guy out the next day to redo EVERYTHING (he had to move the dish and actually setup/initialize our service...took an ENTIRE weekend to get the installation done). STILL can't use all of the features with my package. Can't create an online account to pay my bill. First time calling - over an hour and multiple transfers...no solution. Second time calling: spoke to NO LESS THAN 15 PEOPLE and got hung up on after 3 hours and no help!!!! Called back and spoke to 6 more people for another 90 minutes and finally found out that DirectTV made up a username and email which created all of the create account problems after 4 1/2 hours!!!! Eventually was able to pull this info out from the 21st person and fixed the problem myself. However, this is after my bill was put in collections because I was unable to log in to pay my bill, which multiple people had no problem asking me to pay even though they wouldn't help resolve the initial problem for calling! This is the worst service AND customer service experience I have every had. Please don't ever switch to Direct TV...I can't wait to pay to end my contract and switch back to Verizon. read more

I rejoined DirecTV 2 years ago, big mistake. I was moving and transferring service, which they say should be easy. I scheduled the appt to move 2 weeks ago with them. Today was the day, window of 8 am to noon. Tech never showed up, never called. After at least 5 phone calls, 15 transfers and 3 Supervisors I received a call from their dispatch office 6.5 hours after the service window ended, telling me I had to reschedule, tech wasn't coming out. I took the day off, waited more than 10 hours, and then was told they could reschedule me next week. Like you, I work full time, can't keep taking time off for service that may not happen. Instead of trying to reasonably solve my problem by coming tomorrow since it was their fault, and offering some compensation for my entire wasted day since it was their fault, they transferred me (AGAIN) to their Loyalty Team to offer to discontinue my service. Atrocious customer service. DISH TV much better. After 3 HOURS on the phone trying to determine why the technician never showed up for the installation appointment at my second home, I cancelled my direct tv service. I spoke to over 15 reps around the globe (Rudolph, Mona, Niesy)- while simultaneously working with reps on live chat. No one could solve my somewhat complicated but not overly sophisticated problem. I don't fault the reps whom I spoke with but rather see it as a system problem (the reps didn't have the knowledge to fix my problem). NO ONE COULD HELP ME. I repeated my story to each rep - over 15 times - each time I was transferred. When I requested to speak with a supervisor, 2 reps tried to find a supervisor but claimed "caller volume was high" so they couldn't locate anyone. After I finally cancelled my service, I called DISH satellite, spoke with Steve here in the US (no delay on the call) and he immediately gave me his direct phone number so I could reach him, in the event we got cut off. Seems DISH tv has learned how to out maneuver the atrocious customer service that caused Direct tv to lose my loyal business (a customer for over 10 years). Goodbye Direct tv - we never had these issues before AT&T took over!! read more

Worst thing for TV.... It rains and my tv goes down. They should tell you this before you have a long term contract. Then for your second year you payments go way up!!!! The service not there. My term ends soon and I am gone. Ask before you try what is a 771 and why it happens all the time.(771 lose of signal). Good luck with tech support they work as good as the signal. read more
