Call customer service 4 times after 25 years we are done! Hung up on 4 times told not to call back! Charging for wifi among other things.

I cannot wait to end my contract with this company! It truly deserves 0 stars! They have cheated me out of so much money. I cannot describe the greed of this company with their horrible service and constant increases in pricing. The channel dropping is so inconvenient and there's always a big increase following negotiations! First, I was told there'd be a $6 increase and recently it was $7! Direct TV Lied to both my husband and me A time was set up with a technician to come fix our connections on Saturday, September 21 between 4-8 PM. We changed all our plans in order to be home. At 4:15 I received a call telling me that our appointment had been cancelled and then my husband received a call saying that I had cancelled the appointment. I did no such thing. I was then told that all the technicians had gone home, and no one was available to come to our home. The appointment was set for between 4-8 but at 4:15 they had all gone home? What? I spent 2 hours and 38 minutes on the phone with three different CSR's including a supervisor who repeatedly read off a script to tell me that they only thing they could do was reschedule an appointment for 4 days later. I am still waiting. In addition, the CSR and technical department completely offended me assuming that because I am a woman that I didn't check the connection, and today (Monday) I just received another call asking the same thing. I am not STUPID. I have had to take the day off work with a client in order to be here for the technician on Tuesday. All I was offered was a $60 credit. This is unacceptable. I heard every excuse they could come up with on the script. It was comical that they couldn't really tell me the truth and no one had authority to make exceptions. I wish I had an alternative. One CSR actually told me I should buy a SMART TV. I would be happy to with the credit they should be giving us. I am very unhappy. We have since been calling for THREE WEEKS because we cannot log into our account online or into the app. We cannot see our billing or account information nor watch tv since we mostly use the service on our phones/iPads. We have called 12 times for assistance and help. We have reset our password and deleted and reinstalled the app. Today we were told this is a KNOWN issue with NO solution. Our 15 years of loyalty meant nothing when we were transferred to the loyalty department because they said there was nothing they could do about it. We have never missed a payment and pay for premium services. How can a company not have working services and still charge us? This is RIDICULOUS. read more

Switched from Directv dish to Directv stream. Oh they were so busy selling the product that they didn't say Directv Dish is a seperate company then Directv Streaming. So by switching I was charged $400 for bracking a contract with Dish. Be very very very afraid of Directv and AT&T. read more

So expensive, I wish we had other options. I have had so many bad experiences with other providers though, this seems like the least bad option. We chose them over Dish Network because of better sports programming. However, Dish's DVR records programs much better than this one. I am SOOO glad this is the last year DirectTV has Sunday Ticket. The absolute worst customer service - it took me more than 15 to convince the first person I talked to I had an account with them AFTER I'd given him my account number. Talked to 3 people and none were able to service my account. The last guy I had to tell to shut up because everytime I got 2 words out he'd try to answer what he thought me question was. So far DIRECTV can't work an agreement with the Indianapolis NBC affiliate WTHR-13 www.wthr.com therefore any Directv and AT&T Uverse customers have been missing NBC programming for over a month. And during Premiere Month when all the new shows and new seasons start. I wouldn't recommend DIRECTV or AT&T Uverse to anyone as you won't get NBC programming or the channel that provides it. read more

I just contacted directv because I had no picture and a problem error. I was told that in 3 to 5 business days I will receive a cord which may or may not fix the problem. Needless to say this has been going on for around 6 months. But hopefully it will work but it in the meantime I'm sure I need to continue to pay my bill but I cannot watch programs for now. For those of you who think that Directv is better on customer service, like I used to than Xfinity, you're wrong. They offer the option to suspend services for snowbirds which is really great. What they dont' tell you is that when you return, it will take them over a month to get you your directv bill and when they do, it will be wrong. I called about my bill, not because I was trying to get out of paying it but because I wanted to know why it took so long to get it and why my introductory discount for my 2 year agreement was not taken off of the bill for the first month we were back. The offshore CS rep couldn't really understand what I wanted and then put me on hold forever and said he was talking to a supervisor. He told me he would call me back, which he did. He then told me that they were writing off that charge since it was their billing glitch and he gave me an exact amount to pay. Nervous about this info, I called back a couple of days later to verify what he had told me. Good thing because there were no notes stating what he had told me. I asked to speak to a supervisor who was very rude and couldn't seem to help me much. I told him that he should listen to the recordings for that CSR for that day and see what he told me because customers don't appreciate being lied to. He told me he would do that and get back to me. That never happened. Fast forward to when I had my service moved to my new home. They sent out a really nice young man to ask if I had any questions. He sure didn't seem to know anything about any of this at all. Looks like they did take the discount off so I guess I should be glad for that, but if I tell a customer I'll call them back I do it. If they had Verizon FIOS in this area, I would switch tomorrow. I'm tired of everyone having offshore customer service and then they don't have any idea what they're doing. If you're going to move the business to another country, at least get them up to speed on how not to lie to and ignore your customers. I'm not paying an early termination fee to get out of the agreement, but I'm definitely not renewing. I am so disappointed with them. I just paid the remainder of the bill, which the supervisor told me I had until the end of May to pay, but they are blowing up my phone with their automated calls about how my bill is past due and they are going to suspend my service. I had service with AT&T UVerse almost since they started. I moved to an area that didn't offer UVerse so I switched to Directv. Horrible service, TVs would freeze up and bad lag times so annoying. The wireless boxes would freeze up every time I watched tv on them and then it would have to reboot. When it was time to move again I called to cancel and told the AT&T lady about how unhappy I was with Directv and if they offered UVerse in my area I'd go back to that. Instead I wanted to cancel and she told me she got the early termination fee waived. A month later I get a bill for the early term fee! They won't fix the issue and are making me pay $299! Agree with other reviews should have a negative rating!! Directv offered a bundle with hughesnet and gave the number to contact hughesnet for internet service. They never came through with the bundle offer. They re-directed me to hughesnet who in turn redirected back to directv. Both company customer service representatives said it was the other company's responsibility I spoke with two to three representatives per call at each company. The last contact was a 21/2 hour ordeal that ended with being told to call the other company because they are the best to bundle ... without any honesty or customer service they should close!! read more

We had U-Verse TV and AT&T talked us into going with Direct TV. They made a very good offer so we did it. Up until two months ago we were happy with it. We did have some trouble with the dish in very bad weather. Now for two months it's nothing but trouble with the DVD player. We have to reset it every time we turn the television on to get our recorded programs to appear. It doesn't record most of the time. I called. They want to extend my contract! NO! We have a package including tv service, DVR, and hbo channels. Thank God the contract is over now so we can part ways and find something that works better! This company has terrible customer service and equally terrible service/TV quality. They are known for having the most HD channels yet NO STATIONS are clear. Granted we have a very large TV, but stations HD or not, come in grainy, choppy, and poor. If you DVR a program, it is even worse! Your program will be cut up, pixelally, and choppy. Many times only a portion of the program will record!! The same goes for watching TV in bad weather, rain, or even a cloudy day! The entire situation is so frustrating and I plan to not deal with it any longer!! The reviews online explain it all. We have had Direct TV for more than six years and no longer have a contract. Our remote was not working and we requested a new one. The remote was sent quickly, but it did not solved the problem. The on/off and volume works, but switching stations is very intermittent. After three+ days of trying to get it solved and hours on the phone, all the advice we got is to upgrade or sign a new two year contract. It is very, very frustrating. The internet service (through AT&T) is great, offering stable connectivity and a strong signal. However, the DirectTV programming is absolutely miserable - by far the most disappointing selection of channels I have ever had. There are a million sports channels, useless for me as I do not watch sports. There are also many channels that go off the air at different times, while others are paid programming channels with back-to-back hourlong "programs" selling the newest skin product or vacuum cleaner or sex toy. Then, you have One America News, a right wing propaganda machine, in addition to many 24/7 news channels. There are just a few channels that ever show anything worth watching, and usually I end up watching Everybody Loves Raymond reruns, or in my Amazon Prime account picking from my library, choosing free Prime content, and sometimes even paying to rent Amazon content because there is nothing at all to watch on DirectTV. Unfortunately, AT&T requires a yearlong commitment to DirectTV, which is not surprising now that I see how terrible the programming is. Horrible experience. If something seems too good to be true, it usually is and it turns out what Direct TV offered WAS too good to be true. I signed a contract for 2 years with a monthly bill promised at approx $115. Almost monthly I had to call at the end of the billing period to dispute charges and argue my case for the promised monthly amount. The bill was never the same. Every call had me transferred to one or more reps with the promise that it would be taken care of. Now that I've reached the end of my contract and cancelled when I was supposed to, I'm receiving a bill via email for $159.17 and this is AFTER I've received two paper bills claiming I have a credit of 31 cents. After spending over an hour tonight with THREE reps, I was asked multiple times if I'd like to make a payment on my account. Which after speaking to the three reps I was told that I was correct, I owed nothing and the disputed ETF would be removed. I'm still unsure if it's been corrected. I will have to call again tomorrow to check as I wasn't emailed a confirmation that it was resolved. Absolutely horrible company who thinks that if given enough run around, the customer will give up and pay whatever asked. read more

Thinking about Direct TV - maybe you want to think again. These folks arrived late,did a bad install on Monday 8/26, and cut our phone, fax and internet connections and left. Couldn't get them back until 8/30 to hook up the internet only to find that to do so that they wanted to put up a second satellite dish. Not wanting a second dish we had to stop that install and stick with cable for internet. From the beginning, this relationship has been marked by poor or non-existant information from Direct TV, sub standard installation and the install wont be completed until 9/10/2013.. Lovely! At&t direct TV is a big money maker for them, but the customer doesn't get much more than an antenna can give you. Plus an antenna won't go out. I had 2 salesman come on to my property and sell me on direct TV. It will be cheaper I was told, when I combined Internet and tv. So at 56 yrs old I bought it. Nieve to the end I guess. An install person for direct TV showed up and hooked up the tv but I was told 12 to 4 pm for the Internet hook up. At 8 pm still no installer. I called at&t 3 times I time I was hung up on. The 2 other times they wanted to reschedule for 2 weeks away. Meanwhile I will be charged for my existing phone and Internet plus the direct TV and Internet. Good deal sure, but I'm not willing to spend my gas money for the month on this. My opinion I will ovoid direct TV salespeople and buy on my time not there's. Originally had U-Verse TV with no real issues. Always great customer service, and all I had to do was call in to their Loyalty department to get re-signed up for promotions or Free HBO. Then I moved (to a neighborhood across the street btw) and am told U-Verse TV isn't offered in my new neighborhood and I'll have to get DirecTV. Okay, no biggie. WRONG. Worst experience with a cable company ever. Service doesn't work half the time. I call to do troubleshooting and they say they're going to send a tech out to fix. But that they're charging me $50 to have someone come out!!!! To fix their problem!!! At this point, I'll pay a cancellation fee to get out. This is no way to treat loyal customers. read more

So tonight I found out (totally on accident) that we've been being overcharged $10 a month for the last 3 years. I called for the 3rd time in 24 hours to address a mistake made by an incompetent customer service rep and during the course of the conversation (over an hour) realized that we were being overcharged. After doing some research, I realized it had been happening for over 3 years--- but the rep I was dealing with wasn't authorized to credit such a large amount to my account so he offered to transfer me to a supervisor. After 10 minutes, she got on the line with an attitude from the start as if it was OUR fault. After trying to speak with her in a reasonable and civilized manner for about 10 mins, I lost it and cursed her out. Guess who's searching for a new cable/ Internet provider in the morning. we have had direct tv several months now. when we ordered i asked a question about limits of programing(see uverse review) i was told that main box had 5 limit however additional boxes could tune to live tv independently. so we ordered. after install first night we ran into 5 limit. other boxes could not watch independent. i called tech support they informed me definately 5 limit(brother loves reality anything)they said and dis send me a separate dvr. so now we have 7 tuners overall in my room just 2, which almost always is enough for me. it is a 4 due to initial lie about service. read more

This company is the most corrupt company in America. I got their select package in December 2016. I paid my bill as soon as it became available every single month until I canceled service. I notified them two or three weeks prior to canceling service that I intended to and what day I would be returning my equipment. I returned my equipment on 9/22/2018 at the UPS store in Greenwood, Indiana. I contacted them to advise I had returned the equipment and I needed my service to end. They told me I would receive one final prorated bill as I was at the end of my contract. I received the prorated bill on 10/5/2018. I immediately paid the bill. I received a statement in mid-November indicating they were charging me for the equipment. I immediately called them and provided the return reference number again. They said it was a zero balance. A month later I received another letter indicating I had not returned my equipment. I called again providing the reference number. They said it was a zero balance again. I then received a collection call today indicating I never paid my final bill. Again, I paid it on 10/5/2018 in full. I called AT&T/Directv and they refused to investigate it because they turned it over to collections. They gave me the phone number of the collections company. I called them back thinking I was speaking to Directv. Nope, it was the collections company. I have never not paid a bill immediately upon receipt in my entire life. I paid the stupid bill just to have it settled. I suggest that NO ONE do business with Directv or AT&T. AT&T's customer service has completely diminished to the same level as Directv's customer service since their merger. I have filed a Better Business Bureau complaint as I cannot and will not have this affecting my credit. I will be finishing my current commitment to AT&T then I will be leaving after 12 years of being a loyal customer. Moral of the story...if a company requires a contract...run the opposite direction. read more
