A great local theatre with three screens and an intimate setting with about 70 seats per theatre. It's easy to have this place to yourself on a week night a few weeks after a movie comes out. Part of the Dipson family of theaters, you'll get discounted tickets on Tuesdays and half price pop and popcorn. Serves wine, beer, energy drinks and other concessions. Assigned seats and power recliners.

What a gem. We went on a random week night to see a movie we have never heard of (highly recommended going into a movie completely unaware of what it is about!) the person working sold us our tickets, refreshments and chatted with us. Super friendly. We then sat in the comfiest chairs!! Highly recommend this theatre

This past week I've been talking about really wanting to check this theatre out as I've never been. Let me start off my saying this little theatre is clearly way underrated! I was up late the other night, just two days after talking about wanting to check out the Dipson Theatre. I quickly checked out for any upcoming events on Yelp, and stumbled upon a UYE for Child's Play with following a live Q&A from Alex Vincent. I was super stoked when I saw that and was highly surprised that I hadn't heard about it. I looked it up on Facebook and it was legit! Alex Vincent was in town for the Nickel City Con. I bought two tickets to see Child's Play (and was definitely shocked there were any available, especially because I saw the event posted the day of the show!) messaged Alex Vincent and he confirmed he would be there. We arrived about 20 minutes prior to show time, there wasn't a line at all. They have really comfortable, adjustable reclining seats. You can sit wherever you'd like, as long as there isn't a "reserved" sign over it. It was still surprising to me that the theatre wasn't full for this, but it made it that much more fun in the sense that it felt like I was going to a "underground" type of event. We watched the movie, and immediately following, Alex Vincent did his Q&A. He took quite a few questions and j found out a lot more about the Child's Play franchise (which is my favorite horror movie series). He then had a meet and greet afterward to take pictures with fans with his Curse of Chucky doll, and to sign autographs for an additional fee, which was really affordable. He's a really stand up guy, very friendly and down to earth. I found out that they have something called "Thursday Night Terrors," which is what this was. It seems to be old school horror movies played on the big screen, occasionally on Thursdays, and sometimes a Q&A and meet and greet with one of the stars afterward. I'm seriously the biggest horror fan, so I'll be making sure I know about all of these events ahead of time. Dipson has a rewards program, however with the $45 we spent, we weren't able to sign up to apply it as you need to purchase a rewards gift card. I definitely see myself coming back soon so I will sign up next time.

The best way to see a movie , just lean back & put your feet up & watch a wide variety of movies in luxury seats. There's never a bad seat in the house, so come & enjoy a movie in comfort & style in one of three theaters. The snack bar has hot popcorn with real butter, pepsi products & candy to enjoy with your movie. The Thursday Night Terrors series is fantastic with frightful films from the past, its a must to check out.

Sit in luxury with seats that recline and provide much comfort, its a great way to see a movie in their three theaters. The Thursday Night Terrors Series Captivates you with the horror movies of the past & the obscure you might have missed the first time out.The snack bar has candy, hot popcorn with the real butter & Pepsi pop, all served fast & by their friendly staff. On Tuesdays there's even reduced admission, pop & popcorn.

I love seeing movies at the Amherst Dipson. The independent and limited release movies always come to the Amherst or the North Park. They also recently renovated the theaters and added the comfortable reclining chairs! Many of the Oscar contenders start at the Amherst and aren't released at the AMC or Regal until several months later. Even if a movie is playing at the Amherst and a major theater simultaneously, I always choose the Amherst. On top of having better movies, this theater itself is very charming. It has the feeling of an old time movie theater, as opposed to the chain theaters that seem to only play blockbuster box office hits. I also love the painted murals and old photographs of the classic Hollywood stars in the lobby. Not to mention that the popcorn is also better and fresher. The people behind the concession stand are always so friendly. They like talking to the patrons about what they liked and didn't like about the films they are currently showing. They are also honest with their recommendations if you ask which ones are worth seeing.

Popcorn with real butter

One of the best theaters in Buffalo for many reasons including: Nostalgic marquee sign, Popcorn with real butter, Recliner chairs, good audio levels, excellent films. Also the staff are intelligent and like to chat about cinema. Last but not least, if you order a large popcorn you get free refill. Oh, and they offer Hot tea! Choose this place over Regal, your ears will thank you!

With declining viewership & attendance numbers the location closed it's second concession stand, the former spic & span theaters tend to be a bit messy, and the parking lot is a mess. Sketchy at night, and at times the theaters can get a bit out of control with loud & rude customers. Which tends to ruin the experience. On one occasion, while watching the latest John Wick film, my wife had the misfortune of sitting on a wet seat (yeah, it was urine & the trousers were ruined) Other than that, with a little caution, it's fine. Though I think a little more attention to detail & customer experience would go a very, very long way. It has so much potential.

I originally wrote a review of this theater about ten years ago, and a lot has changed since then…read more Not for the better. Out of all the Regal locations in the area, this one has slipped into being the weakest overall. The staff experience is very hit or miss. Some employees are attentive and present, while others seem more interested in chatting with friends or sneaking phone time in over helping customers. The cleanliness has also dropped too. It's not dirty to the level of being gross, but it no longer feels well cared for or consistently maintained. The seating hasn't been updated, so it's still the old style, which honestly sums up what feels off about this location. It feels stuck in the past. Everything comes across as a little worn and tired compared to other Regal theaters nearby. There doesn't seem to be much pride or urgency in keeping the space polished. Concessions are another weak spot. The standard snack options are usually fine, but anything beyond the basics are regularly unavailable. I've also had very little luck with promotional snack, which are frequently out of stock here compared to other locations. This used to be one of the better Regal theaters years ago. I find myself choosing any of the other Regal locations instead, including driving all the way out to Orchard Park, when this would be the most convenient location for me coming from Lockport. I hope this theater eventually gets some updates... refreshed seating, improvements to the IMAX, or just a renewed focus on upkeep and staff engagement. It's possible things have changed since my last visit three to six months ago, but as of now, it's unfortunately a no for me.

I Love, with a capital L, the little tables on the recliners. I wish all of the local theaters would adopt them. It seems silly, but they are one of the main reasons this is my most frequented theaters... don't judge me. Lol. Where are they middle of the road? Cleanliness can be hit or miss. Some stuff is a little outdated, but I do believe they are working on that, there were new chairs going in recently. The food menu is hit or miss. I feel like out of all of the Regals that are in the area, they seem to not have what I am looking for most often, some of that is because I am here the most, but some of that seems to be an ordering issue or maybe Regal forces certain menu layouts even if a theater doesn't have those offerings... I am looking at you elusive Tandoori Popcorn. Last, but not least, is something I'll mention, but won't dock them any stars for, the location. I never personally feel uncomfortable here, solo or with company. I have had 2 partners that have said they would come with me, but not alone. I have also witnessed a couple of fights here. In this theaters defense, they can't help where they are located or who is around. In addition, they do a good job keeping security officers here, and I do believe they take customer safety seriously. Security seems to be responsive and I have seen them do everything from deescalate someone in the lobby, to deal with chatty/loud movie goers. Usually they are just a quiet presence and everything is smooth. There are less and less theaters in the area as time passes, I recommend supporting any theaters you can.

The theater was not crowded, so I did not hear anyone talking during the movie. I have been to this…read moretheater before, but I do not think I ever watched a movie in the number 1 theater. It has a somewhat strange, in my opinion, configuration with the stairs sort of winding around to get to the upper seats. Luckily we arrived before the (endless) coming attractions and commercials when the lights were still on. There was an entire 1/2 hour of commercials and coming attractions before the feature movie started. The theater loses a star for that 1/2 hour of commercials and terrible movie clips.
