After a less-than-stellar experience by one of the more local, yet highly visible oil change places in the area, I was none too keen to get my oil changed by them again. Lo and behold, there was a Valvoline nearby, which I had used years ago while living in another state. When I pulled in, there were large flags indicating discounts for LSU faculty and staff (woohoo - a win I wasn't expecting - about 20% off!) and the folks there directed me to pull around into one of the bays. I was there only one there around 9am on a Friday. Brad, Dontae, and Elliot were so friendly and fast at getting my oil changed - took maybe about 20 minutes when all was said and done (including changing out my engine air filter and resetting my dashboard inspection indicator, which is always a hassle - thanks VW for that!). We go to this Take 5 and there was a car in each of the 3 bays. Three people were working and we arrived at 9:31 am cars came after us and left after attendant went and talked to them. The car in front of us had a female in it the attendant seemed to enjoy upselling and flirting with. He leaned in her car chatting and laughing with for almost 10 minutes. We were pulled into a bay at 10:11 40 minutes after arriving. They begin working on one of the other cars that were in the bays when we pulled up. I had thought someone had left them but people were in them. They stood around trying to upsell the next car and taking pictures of each other when they did. Now he wants over 11K for a transmission. Do not bring your vehicle here! They overcharge and will try to get over on you. DO NOT RECOMMEND DOING ANY BUSINESS WITH THEM. I chose the interior and exterior cleaning. Since Covid, you now get to sit in your car for the cleaning and exit to have the interior done. It was remarkable. They even worked to get a food stain out the seat that a friend made when (poorly) carrying a casserole in his lap. Sure, there were a couple of spots from a dirt stain I had to brush off the outside, but it was great for the value. They will try to push you to sign up for a monthly subscription, but were respectful when i declined after a couple of times.

When all was done my bill was around $184. A bit more than I expected. Could have gotten most of this done for free at the dealership where I purchased my GMC Canyon, but did not want to get up early and wait for work to be done. Benny's was more convenient for me time wise. Plus I got a free car wash. Throughout the whole work they showed me the old filters before they installed new ones. Used high grade synthetic oil. Will use Benny's again, I also use their other location on Coursey for yearly car inspection.

I went to grease monkey on Drusilla in Baton Rouge right when they opened in the morning for a tire…read morerotation and full synthetic oil change, and saw the maintenance code for the coolant was on. i knew it wasn't time to change, but asked them to take a look and let me know what they suggest. I also told him I was recommended for a brake job 4 months prior from his technicians on the rear axle and we can schedule that for next time. 25 minutes later, he comes to tell me the coolant is fine, but he's worried about my wipers (which I just got changed 5 months prior) and my air filter. He also told me all of my brakes are fine, but he was worried about my front rotors and he could do a full front brake job right now. I said well I have to be to work in 20 minutes so I don't have time for the brake job right now. How much longer? he said well we have to do the oil change and put your tires back on. I was confused why it's been 25 minutes, I was the second car there and the oil change hasn't been done. So, I said ok to the air filter too, and thanked him for checking the brakes and coolant. Anyway, about 20 minutes later I'm paying for new wipers along with the oil change, tire rotation, and air filter. I didn't need wipers but I didnt have time to argue or say anything. so I paid and left. Fast forward a month later - my car is overheating. I open the hood and there's coolant all over my engine. So I bring it to Richard's Honda because I have a warranty thinking there is a leaky hose or busted radiator. NOPE! there's no radiator cap. WHAT?!??? so whoever checked the coolant at Grease Monkey didn't put the cap on correctly. And of course warranty doesn't cover things that are human error so it was $441 for them to fill the system with water, check for leaks, empty the water, refill with coolant, and replace the radiator cap. So, I call Grease Monkey and the store manager, Shelby is what he said his name is after 5 times calling, still hasn't called me back, emailed me back, or tried to do anything to reconcile the situation. I also found out from the dealership all of my brakes and rotors are perfectly fine. 1. They lied to me TWICE about needing brakes 2. replaced my wipers without my consent 3. took almost an hour to do an oil change and tire rotation 4. unprofessional and terrible customer service 5. Can't admit when something is their fault 6. Don't deserve anyone's money
