Dion's is a decent place; the half salad is big enough to be lunch (especially if you choose Chef so it has some meat), the subs are alright, and the pizza tastes fine. I'm generally satisfied but it costs a little more than I'd like for lunch. My big gripe, and the reason for three stars instead of four, is they way they top the pizza slices. They take a cheese pizza, throw the extras you ordered on top, and warm it up. Whenever I pick up the slice, half my toppings fall to my plate! Would it hurt to add a tiny bit of cheese to the top so that it holds together?

One of the best Pizza joints I have ever eaten at! I have been eating at Dion's pretty much since they first opened up. The quality of their food and service has always been top-notch for a pizza chain. My favorite is their Dion's Special Pizza. I could hurt myself eating that it is so delicious. I also love the great deal they have on salads. Their family-size salads are big enough to feed four to six people with some lift over, and the amazing thing is that they come in a sealable bowl with two nice serving forks that you can take home and add to your kitchen utensils if you so desire. And they do not skimp on ingredients in their salads either. The best thing is that the price of their family-size salad is about the same thing as you would pay another restaurant for an entrée salad for one person. Whenever I am in Lubbock and have a hankering for pizza, there simply is no question as to where I will go. I am going to Dion's.

My first impression of the restaurant was with a carry out order. Not being from Lubbock, I wasn't sure if this would be "authentic" pizza, a reasonable knockoff of pizza or something in between. I'm happy to say the pizza was up to snuff and was a good place to grab a slice. It was made well, not too much sauce and with enough toppings to keep us happy. My only concern was the staff that handed our order. There was nothing wrong with the order and they were friendly, but when I asked about options for pizza to go, the person behind the counter wasn't too creative. She offered us a cheese pizza to go, but in 10-15 min. Another employee overheard me and offered the pizza by the slice, which was ready in 4-5 min since we were in a rush. Not a deal breaker... and not the employee's fault. She just seemed to be new to the job or a less experienced worker. Overall, this is a solid place for pizza and one that impressed me.

Polite service but the food is fairly average, middle of the road experience for me. Will likely choose another pizza place in the future.

The food is the real star though. Their wings are incredible, and they don't mess around with the spice. They can be hot! I love the jalapeño poppers. Where else gives you a real popper and not just a frozen and deep fried version? As for the pizza...I'm pleased to say it's the best part of an already awesome place. I will start off by saying sometimes the wait is excruciatingly slow for dine-in, whether it is almost empty or packed. However, takeout is usually pretty on top of it. Capital wins out if you like your crust a little doughy. There is this intense softness to their pizza that it is almost like tasting a cloud. It is legit. Some personal favorites of mine are their Hot Honey pizza, but this last time I ordered a Classic Margherita, and I loved it. It is really like no other pizza place I have been to, and I always find enjoyment in their immensely doughy crusts. It used to be only order over the phone, but it is nice to order online using Slice now because you do not have to preplan and prepare for a phone call. You just pick your pizzas and order. It is great. I enjoy dining in as well. The place feels pretty small, but there is a big overflow room in the back on busy nights. They have a full bar, which is pretty cool for keeping the party going. You do have to pay a little more than at your typical pizzeria, but I think the tradeoff is worth it. What...was that?…read more Perhaps that's the issue. I remember what One Guy's used to be. It was formerly a place that I'd recommend to anyone visiting from out of town as a local favorite. It was a place I went when I cared less about convenience and using a coupon for some chain pizza and instead wanted something absolutely delicious. Sadly, it's not that anymore. The salad out front was decent enough, albeit pretty basic and definitely nothing special. The calzone was watery. Yes, watery. I don't even know how or why, but there was an excessive amount of watery liquid coming out of it. The pepperoni pizza was decent enough, but definitely no better than you're going to get from a chain, or (I can't believe I'm saying this) frozen. The sauce was particularly off-putting and gave me a different kind of nostalgia than I thought I would get eating here. It reminded me of eating Chef Boyardee vlin microwavable bowls as a kid. I was told that after taking the leftovers home and trying them the next day, they were even worse reheated. I didn't have that misfortune myself as I was done with it after the meal. The service was adequately good, but there was no crowd like I would have expected, and it's easy to see why. I'm fully aware of the reasons things may have gone a different direction (specifically downhill) at One Guy's and that there are now more options in town. I just hoped that this location still had some of that pizazz that made it special. Sadly, I was disappointed.
