I noticed quite a few five star reviews for this joint on Yelp. This place is supposed to make the genuine NYC pizza with thin crust. I ordered 2 cannolis ($11) and an 18" Deluxe pizza ($25.25) with pepperoni, ground beef, mushrooms, sausage, onions, and black olives. When I arrived, David Wheelock, at the cash register, told me they had just removed my pizza. He handed me the box and said he had to go in the back to make the cannolis. I'm not sure if they really make them there or not, but they had lot of cream filling and weren't too sweet. The pizza had a lovely, crispy crust and a ton of toppings. I wish this place was closer. By the time I got home with the pie it wasn't hot anymore. Just warm. A very good representation of NY style pizza.

The flavor was nice and one of the better pizzas I've had in a while. The crust is very delicious and has such a nice texture and mouth feel. I wish the pizza was saucier but that's just for my personal liking. The pizza was perfect. Now onto the wings. Even though the flavor was delicious they were incredibly small. Just a tad bigger than a nugget and that's just way too small. Service at pickup was neither friendly or rude - just transactional. Overall the pizza was good enough to order it again.

This Il Vicino is solid. Pleasant staff and attentive service, a nice selection of reasonably priced food and bevs that are pleasing to the palate, and a nice room and patio with good places to sit. I've been going to Il Vicino (not this particular outlet) since the late Eighties and it's maybe more solid than ever. It's an order-at-the-counter/find-a-seat/they-find-you place - a format I've always considered mildly annoying. But it's done right - and I'm always pleased that I left a 20% tip (the payment screen suggests 15/18/20%, and you can customize or opt out) despite this format, because the staff TAKES CARE of us while we're there. Management pitches in and is always actively engaged, and it shows in the attentive staff and clean space - even during a lunch rush.
