It's a fun divy spot. Nice kitschy more decoration. Staring at the skyline photos to see what changes. Childhood crush Kelly kapowski staring at me across bar. Malort flows from the heavens. I don't spirits no more but the shot menu was appealing. I suggested they get the dumpster fire shot, they do too. Seems a mix of locals and college kids. Watching dudes buying drinks for every girl individually and getting blown off is fun too. Glad there's only one woman I have focus on. But I'd suggest only taking drinks handed to you by bartender... that's anywhere though. Karaoke was fun. My one drawback was the singing area was cramped. I'd stick it more like on the dance floor. Confusing layout and whether or not this is a bar or a convenience store, I guess it's both. Dino's Bar has a similar style to a few other old school Chicago bars, where you can drink on site, or purchase bottles to go. It also doubles as a convenience store, and you can even purchase cigarettes and more. A lot also like going here for karaoke. There's also other entertainment such as slots. Beer is cheap. It's about $2.75 for domestic drafts. They have the basic stuff like Miller High Life. Only a few beers are on tap, but they have a lot more in bottles and cans. There's a wall full of the hard stuff. Liquor prices aren't bad either. They also have free popcorn. As for what else to do other than drink, you have a few choices. People often gush about karaoke. It seems to be the most popular night to come here. This place is bumping on weekends. Other times it's pretty quiet and even boring. The slots become the main form of entertainment, along with watching a game. Find good times and prices at this old school bar. It usually has a special going on. I find myself at Dino's more weekends than I'd like to admit, before heading to a mate's place or back home for the night. It's a sweet divey bar with a lot of personality in the institution sense as well as the clientele. I have seen pimps there twice, which is a thing. The owner is really sweet and has taken my bags for me and placed them behind the bar on a couple of occasions. Drinks are cheap and you can buy full bottles of liquor or six packs of beer at super competitive priced which is dope. Karaoke at Dino's is what dreams are made of. My first time back since a remodel and COVID. Not a ton has changed. I say this because My last experience was not a great one. I love tap beer but not sure their taps get a lotta love (maintenance wise). You can taste it and I'm sure the reason for a previous bad experience. Anyway, this is the epitome of the neighborhood Chicago bar. Regulars milling about, Cubs game on the tv (a really small tv), and the vast assortment of bar snacks (jerky, nuts, rinds, popcorn etc.). You can even get a pack of Juicy Fruit gum. All in all, a solid place. I'd like to have seen more bottle/can options as their drafts don't see a ton of action (guessing because of what I said earlier). read more

The best bar for karaoke in the area. The karaoke guy DJ Kapp is the best. Makes everyone feel comfortable even if you don't have a great voice.--such a fun atmosphere .especially like that he plays current hits, oldies and dance music between karaoke songs so it always feels like a party. Always have fun when I go. Wish the karaoke area was bigger, w more dance space and seating--but no biggie- Karaoke nights Friday and Sat night are always sure to be a blast, check it out. read more

I had fun at Dino's. Truth be told, it wouldn't be my first choice of bars in the future, but it was very close to where we had dinner and we had a good time. We went on a Friday night and there was karaoke, so they've got that going for them! The KJ was really friendly and he had a good selection of songs. You could walk right up to him and ask if he had something or you could browse the list online by going to a website that provides available choices. I ended up singing 2 songs over the course of about 3 hours. I had to ask where I was in line for the 2nd song because I seemed to have been lost in the shuffle, but he quickly put me to the head of the line so I was able to get another in before heading out. Right after me his son went up and actually sang one of his own songs, so that was cool. People in the bar were friendly, if not a little overly intrusive at times. It wasn't anything we couldn't handle. It seems like there are a lot of regulars who come for the karaoke, and we're flattered they took an interest in the newcomers. The bartender was pretty busy, so we didn't get a good sense of her personality. She came around as often as possible to check up on us. I was pretty bummed they didn't have Woodchuck available at the time though there was a tap for it, but that's likely not her fault. read more

A mexican guy was butchering "Free Bird" By Skynard in the corner, and the bartender told me "cash only" Walked out, wont be back. A lot better places to spend my time in the neighborhood. read more

If you are new to the Chicago area and are used to the divey, smokey bars of your past home where a cold beer and cocktail didn't cost you $20, you could sit back and enjoy conversation with a regular and belt an old 70's or 80's song at karaoke... then Dino's is the place for you. I can't name another bar in the city where you can grab a cheap pitcher of beer, a shot of Patron XO, a shot of fire whiskey and vodka along with your $3-4 tip for $20 or less. The clientele can be a little rough around the edges at times. A couple of their regulars can be real arse holes. But the barkeep is as good as they come and quick to bring you a fresh basket of popcorn to help soak the suds. There are times I like to enjoy a craft cocktail and a hip, trendy spot. But there are also times I like to wear an old ball cap, rugged jeans, sweatshirt and have no worries while guzzling down a Goose Island. For those times, there's Dino's. Yes, that's right, I went to Dino's. Blame It on curiosity, or maybe five too many cocktails, but I dared to go where I would normally never set foot. On a Friday night well past a respectable hour, it was empty except for our party and 4 other folks. I was immediately intrigued by the wall of hooch behind the bar, that is for to-go purchases...who knew? I found a juke box full of good music and was able to commandeer it for the time we were there, and the bartender loved my choices. Apparently Jay-Z and Lil Wayne don't get a lot of play in Dino's. I've been living in the area for one year now, and I've been to Dino's at least a half a dozen times. I no longer go there, the reason why is the place is cheap or low class and strange. It's the only bar that I've ever been to where you could be really nice to the bartender, tip them well plus buy them drinks, and they never ever buy you a drink in return, not even a free tap beer. read more

This seems to be a place where the patrons take most of the stuff to go. from what I saw of them and the crowd the night I went that was a good thing. This place is a dive and pretty scary. Not in the best of Chicago's neighborhoods as well. They do have some poker machines and one pool table. There is alot of hard liquor and other alcohalic beverages that are available to get totally trashed with. So there are some good things even with bad bars and establishments. read more

just an update..i still go to dino's- friendly people, new karaoke host dj capp..plays karaoke songs from 50s to current also-I like it as anyone can sing regardless of skill level..from beginning karaoke to advanced singer all are welcome without judgement (just a tip- the more you sing the better you get!) still has pool table and great jukebox..try it you will like it! oh and very reasonable drink prices! read more

do not come here this place is not a must- skip the dj review who is jay b. here, and don't go to none of his d.js karaoke-i will list them below: listen to the other reviews not the d.j.- this place is tremendously irkful, all the bad reviews are correct, the d.j. treated customers way improper and has cut off people from singing in the rotation-who doesn't know about a new rule about people who text can get their song in, I heard this from different people and - how the dj made several people suffer for a stupid rule over texting, he said no to them " this is the way I run my karaoke" for god sakes these people didn't get information about the new rule, so give them a one time pass for not knowing- so he choose to cut people off, people who have feelings and emotions, over a rule, which has no feeling or emotion- that they don't know about, I did a karaoke study with 100 people and only 20 people said ok to the text request crap, the bartenders are not friendly and think their more special than you, there is clicks of strange people, I felt uncomfortable, drinks are crappy, etc. his other places are Atlantic bar on Lincoln ave, Chicago, cary's on devon ave., some comic book places, the pumping company, on Broadway-save money and time and your voice, for other places read more
