Abusive old man. Many years ago he tailored my wedding dress and the entire bridal party, we always went to him after. I came one day to pick up my young son's suit. On closer inspection I noticed it has not been altered and politely let him know he may have missed this order. He proceeded to verbally abuse me in front of my then 5 year old and other customers. I was in shock as we had been coming to him for 6 years at that point and I was shaken to my core and in tears. It was positively disgusting the venom he spewed at me in front of my baby. Paid $120 for the incorrect tailoring and to be insulted/screamed at by this misogynistic old man. If I could give 0 stars, I would. This was by far the worst tailoring experience I've ever had. I took a bridesmaids dress here to get slightly taken in and shortened a few inches at the bottom (pretty simple request). I came back a month later because he took in the dress 3 inches too much at the top and didn't shorten the bottom. When I came back, I politely asked if he could take the dress out slightly because it wouldn't zip and shortened so I wasn't tripping on it. He proceeded to tell me I didn't need the dress shortened (?) and that even if they took the dress out completely, it still wouldn't fit me (insinuating I was the problem the dress didn't fit even though I initially purchased the dress a size bigger than usual to account for alterations). He told me he would have his dress maker take the dress out and to come back in 2 days to get the dress remeasured. When I came back to get resized, Dino (out of nowhere) screamed at me telling me I was VERY irresponsible for coming to his store before he closed even though we spoke twice on the phone that day where I was making sure if it was fine to come at 6. He then proceeded to yell at me and my mom that the reason my dress didn't fit me was because i "put on pounds" and told me my mom i'm a "big girl" (i'm a size 6 - S/M). He also told my mom and me that my dress didn't zip because when women are on their menstrual cycles their chests get bigger (wasn't on my menstrual cycle - he just took the wrong measurements). This old man is extremely unprofessional and misogynistic. He would rather blame the customer for his incorrect measurements than admit that he made a mistake. Understanding weight fluctuates but it's physically impossible for someone to grow 5 inches horizontally in one month which is what he was telling me was my problem (a pant size is 1 inch mind you). I went to Dino's to have 2 bridesmaid dresses altered. One needed the straps shortened and both needed to be hemmed. When i dropped them off the guy working couldn't tell me how much it would cost. I should have known better than to leave them there but i really didn't want to find another place. I also didn't think it would cost too much because it was fairly straightforward and simple work. He told me to come back in a week and they would be ready. I was quite surprised when i returned and it cost $140. The work seemed ok at first but a couple hours in and one of the seams on the hem was already coming out. read more

I love this guy. I was making some last minute preparations for homecoming and then I realized that I had a rip in my suit pants. I really wanted to impress my date and I was frightened that I was not going to have my suit ready in time. So, I frantically ran over to Dino's. When I went in, I saw a nice shop with beautiful suits, old photographs, and a seasoned man intensely zoned into his work. That was Dino. I was hesitant to interrupt him, but he soon noticed me and asked what I needed done. I told him that I had a rip and I desperately needed it patched for my homecoming dance which was that night. Dino said it was no problem he quickly patched up the hole for me. He said it would take him two minutes. He fixed them up in about 45 seconds. I was so thankful. Dino was incredibly kind and when he handed me my pants he told me have fun and "to be careful with the girls!" I had a laugh, it was smart advice for a teenage guy like myself. I then asked him what I owed him and he told me I did not have to pay him. I was so grateful that I insisted on it, but he did not let up. He told me not to worry about it and that I should go have a good time. I was very grateful for his help and generosity. Dino is a kind man, clearly wise beyond his years. Dino has been my tailor since 1978, I hate to admit that I've been going to Dino that long but I do so because he is still the best Tairor in the entire area possibly the country! I first met Dino while he was working at Kosins clothing in Detroit as the head of the tailoring department. I followed him when he opened up his own store at the Oakland mall with great tuxedo rentals and now in Birmingham at Adams Square. I would never go anywhere else. Dino has the capability of repairing reworking remaking anything for men and women. His custom made suits and shirts are by the far the best you can get especially for the price. They far exceed the other "suit makers" in town. I highly recommend Dino the Tailor for both men and women's clothing and tailoring. I called a few tailors but no one was able to accommodate my request in such a short notice but Dino was extremely nice and treated me like family. I had my buddies wedding in May 2014. I was referred to Dino's by a close friend that said he is not only the best but he gives you a fair price. When I visited Dino he did just that! Now unfortunately I lost my Jacket at my friend's wedding. In a panic I thought now he is going to make me pay. NOT AT ALL! He said "I remember you have a wedding this year right?" My experience with Dino was horrible, terrible, and even scary. He was rude and condescending, and I believe the work he did was horrible as well. He had no problem giving me shoddy work, and even became angry and threatening when I questioned him on it. I can't believe all these positive reviews for such a nasty, mean man. I went in at 4:10 today to pick up my order which was supposed to be ready today. Only part of it was ready and my husband needs it for tomorrow morning. When I asked if they could get it ready tonight they said Dino wasn't in and they would get back to me. I wanted to pay for and take the pieces that were ready. They said I had to pay for the entire order because they did not want to run the charge twice because that cost them money. It was their error, not mine, yet they wouldn't run the charge twice. The man with whom I dealt could not have been more rude or nasty. After several minutes of arguing he finally ran the charge for part of the order. Now, if he can get the order ready, I have to make another trip back there to pick up my order. They should have been nicer and they should have offered to deliver the clothing to my house since it was their mistake. If I had gone there in the morning, I would have understood if it wasn't ready, but by 4:00 in the afternoon, it should have been done. The worst part was the disrespectful way I was treated. The man could not have been nastier! From now on I am going to Michael's tailor on Woodward. Their work is excellent and they are very nice to deal with. read more
