I've stopped in here a few times recently after several months of never realizing it was there. This is the definition of a hometown sandwich shop that seems to be run by the whole family. The place looks small but there is actually quite a bit of seating inside. Usually busier during the lunch hour, you can tell this is a spot that locals love! I've ordered two sandwiches from here and they've both been great! The bread is definitely fresh and most likely sourced from a local bakery or baked in house (I'll have to ask next time). The Italian is really good, loaded with all the Italian meats and you can top it with Italian spices. It's very flavorful and surprisingly light, whereas some big Italian sandwiches I've had feel very heavy in the stomach after eating. The real winner here, and what I recommend you order, is the roast pork sandwich. This thing is fantastic! Fresh tasting, juicy pork, on fresh bread that soaks in all the flavor. I like spicy so I always order mine with Long Hots which really ties all of the flavors together well. The sandwiches are HUGE, I usually end up cutting mine in half and saving some for later. Ordered the hot roast beef sandwich with mild provolone. It was good. Not great, not bad; just good. The staff was very friendly and the service was great. They brought the sandwich out to me in less than 5 minutes. It was a good size and the correct wetness. But it definitely could have been hotter and more flavorful. They got me on the Broccoli Rabe as a side sold on the menu as a 4oz portion.....for $3 ea....when you end up getting your side...this is what it weighs, ref. the pics and the money spent....just an FYI. $6 goes a LONG way these days. It's so simple but hard to describe just how good it is unless you've had one. The bread us excellent, the sharp provolone is a great balance, the broccoli rabe is on point - but the star of the show is the pork. It's tender, full of flavor, and tastes like it was slow cooked for hours. This place is iconic. If you've never had it, stop reading this and go get one asap. They also offer other sandwiches, fries, and cheesesteaks which I'm sure are great...but how often do you order a salad at McDonalds? You catch my drift. Small seating area inside which I recommend, given this is a juicy sandwich I can't imagine it travels well. We once loved this place so much that we would make the pilgrimage from West Deptford to get our loaded roast pork or roast beef sandwiches. All the while passing by many other decent sandwich shops along the way. We found out that Bob and Robbie had sold the business earlier this year (as we were told by the wait staff) and the end result is that the food quality has dropped off significantly. I ordered take out here for my son and I about a week or so ago. The gentleman at the front counter was very friendly and my order was prepared quickly. I ordered roast beef with broccoli rabe, long hots and mild provolone and I ordered my son a cheesesteak. I was so disappointed when I opened the sandwich and it was literally a HUGE sloppy wet mess. Impossible to eat without washing my hands after each bite or cutting up with a knife and fork. Not only was it incredibly messy, they forgot the cheese and honestly the beef was tasteless. I second the review below written in all caps - Look, I was born in Philly, I "get" Philly but you cannot get a roast pork sandwich anywhere in the city (ok, outside a handful of mom & pops in South Philly maybe) like you can get here. While all their sandwiches are tops, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the roast pork with broccoli rabe and extra-sharp provolone. Just the right amount of au jus, it is legit the perfect sandwich. Thank God they finally expanded from that little walk-up joint on the corner of Kings Hwy & Black Horse Pike to a place you can walk around in and access the large vat of necessary pepper variations to put on top of your bomb sandwich. I placed an order on Saturday for catering for Christmas Eve (Monday). Despite me reading the 72 hr advance notice required, I called to give it a try. They were able to help with a 5 lbs order of pork with all the fixings! When we went to pick it up, the smell was so amazing we had to have a roast beef sandwich right there. Everyone there was very nice and took time to chat with us despite it being a busy, mid-day on Christmas Eve. The pork was a big hit for dinner!
