If you eat seasonally and value keeping your money in the local community, this is a great place to do both. Things I love: Great deals on seasonal produce, especially for members (I signed up on my second visit and boy is membership worth it!). High quality meats. Plenty of locally grown and made options with clear signage. The bulk section is especially great - bring your own containers and you can get some excellent savings on dried fruits, grains, rice, nuts, candies, beans, spices, loose-leaf tea, and more. Sometimes they do tasting days where you can try samples of the pre-made food items. Non-food things: Staff is all friendly and helpful. Parking is easy. They have an electric vehicle charging station in the lot. There is a "little free library" style shelf at the front to share books; there's always new stuff to read and often a selection of cookbooks to try out. Some prices are higher than at other stores so I do shop in multiple places depending on my list. For anything I want in bulk, local, or organic, this is where I get it. Plus, people here are just nice. Staff, customers, everybody. The vibe here is positive and comfortable and it's just a nice place to be.

Our chocolate cakes are about 4 1/2-5 inches in diameter. The topping choices were: fresh raspberries and blackberries, colored sprinkles, pecans and chocolate pieces shaped like 1/2 footballs. Courtney first made the dough to make one of the chocolate chocolate chip cookies. It's only a 90 minute class, so that bowl of dough went back to the kitchen to be baked off. Courtney then made fresh vegan vanilla buttercream, just to show us how easy it is to make as a vegan topping.. Since it was not a full class we were all offered a second cake to decorate with the vegan buttercreams and the other toppings.

FINALLY, I have shopped at Bob's Price-Rite Market ... Hold the presses! I see by its website that…read moreit is now Jd Price Rite Market. 326 W. Delavan in Buffalo. The store has been here near 40 years. My friend Dena who lives across the street from Bob's...I mean Jd's always calls it Bob's, so be patient with me. This store first came to my attention when it was in the news a lot, after the Price-rite chain came to town. But that is ancient history now. Anyway, after a short visit with my friend, I hobbled across the street to...Jd's. Yes, very friendly people there, and helpful. There was not a large selection of fresh produce, but what there was looked fresh and the prices were very compatible with my shopping experiences earlier this week. I bought a beautiful apple for 54¢. Dena always brags on their meats. There were some very nice cuts of beef, some sausages, some pork chops, wings, also some salads. I'm not a big beef eater, so I asked if they had ground pork. The woman said we can grind it for you. I said I'd like a pound. It was nicely wrapped in white butcher paper. The freezer section had a lot of frozen meats, things that had been prepared into patties and meatballs, all ready to take home to your freezer. On my way to the checkout, I spied a bag of dry large lima beans, so I grabbed that, too. I've been making a lot of soups lately. On the downside, the store is small and parking is street only. The upside there is that they do deliver, citywide, I think. And there is a website. The big plus for me was the ground pork I bought there. When I got home, I unwrapped it in order to divide into two half-pound containers for freezing. Beautiful. I have never seen such lean and good looking ground pork. At $3.82 for my package, it might have been a few cents more than the fatty ground pork I used to buy. I'll definitely go back to Jd's for that. Can't wait to tell Dena about the ground pork I bought at Bob's. P.S. I looked at the website and had to come back here to tell you to check out their MEAT PACKAGE DEALS. Also deli offerings. https://www.priceritewestside.com/our-products Eye-popping.

Aldi has been described as a bit of a cult. Often times at the cart corral I'll pull out my designated quarter from its keychain keeper to find some kind soul has decided to pass it forward with a free cart. If you lock them in, you get your quarter back so technically they're all free, but this vibe of friendliness continues through the store. I've never encountered any rude customers or associates in the years I've been shopping here, which is more than I can say about other retailers. Traffic can sometimes get congested at the entrance during peak hours as shoppers peruse the produce section. Conveniently the sales items are parked on the endcap for easy perusal. The deals on them are always exceptional and end up in my cart. I tend to go through all the aisles, taking far too long in the aisle of shame. Can it really be considered a shame when you see the deals though? I've gotten affordable gym mats, cutting boards, limited buy snacks...everything my heart desires. Well, mostly. There are certain products that seem to sell through more quickly than others. I'm not sure if this is because it's located near a gym (some protein fanatic buying all the sardines mayhaps?) or if it is a supplier issue. There's a Tops across the street which remedies things easily enough if you're in a pinch, but there are alternatives at low prices that make it worth the risk. Many times I've checked Reddit to read a review on a product, whether substitution or a temporary find, and have been guided in the right direction. They also have a doubled quality guarantee where you can refund and replace your goods, which I did once without any problems. The associates genuinely seem to care (I found a wallet on the ground and the cashier put everything on hold to attempt to track the person down before they left the premises) and the lack of music allows me to focus without all the bells and whistles that'll in turn help you save a buck. The self serve is card only, and monitored by the cash accepting cashier. There's bags for sale if you've forgotten yours, or even empty boxes to fill. I'll be back next week, because what can I say?
