My haircut by Dima was fine--not memorable, but not a disaster. What WAS a disaster: having to sit in his chair while he spewed falsehoods about the war in Ukraine and Putin's nobility. Dima (Dimitry, the owner) kept one eye on his laptop--while cutting my hair!--so he could watch an internet conversation among Putin propogandists. Unprofessional, stressful, and deeply disturbing. For the next 30 minutes, I had to endure his awful editorializing: mocking Zelenskyy, deriding the West for assisting Ukraine, dismissing Ukrainian civilian murders as "unfortunate--but those women were doing things they shouldn't have been doing." The guy's entitled to his opinion, but he's not entitled to subject his customers to this crap. Consider yourself warned in case, like me, you don't notice the Putin dolls lined up by his scissors until it's too late. read more

The staff is rude and unprofessional with no care for customer service. I went to Dimitri for a cut and color and left with a trim and no noticeable color at all. He blamed me for the color not showing up, saying that I hadn't told him that my hair would 'lift red' which is obviously something that I have never heard before from any other stylist who successfully colored my hair. I cried that evening. I just got my hair re-cut by a stylist who was kind and professional and he told me my hair had been hacked away at by someone who had no idea what they were doing. We completely misunderstood each other. I wanted my hair to be a darker blond, but instead he made i completely white. Although it was not what I wanted, I have to say that it was an amazing result, he really knows how to work with the hair. My hair was already very damaged when I came in, but after 7 hours of bleaching, it wasn't damaged more than it already was in the beginning, because of his amazing chemical mixture, however it does take longer; but rather healthy hair and longer time at the salon, than quick damaged results. When I came in for the consultation I was told that the price would be between 200-300 maximum, but it turned out to be 400, which was a bit disappointing. However, when I wasn't all satisfied with my hair, after the first round, and felt like the brazziness and yellow tones had come back too fast, I went back to the salon and got a free toner and bleaching. I do recommend this salon, but be very specific about what you want. read more

I went to Dima in response to their alternative advertising (girls stop you on the street and offer you a cheap package) which offered a bunch of services including cut and blowdry, 12 foil highlight, deep conditioning, image consultation, and other things for $65. Pretty cheap considering all the services offered, I didn't even list them all. However, I was severely disappointed with what I walked away with. First off, I booked my appointment for 11am which is when they open -- and my stylist didn't show up until close to 11:40. The package charges an extra $15 for product but aside from the deep conditioning product and shampoo, he used good 'ol Tressemme mousse, which costs like $5 from the local supermarket or an entire bottle - mousse is basically a default for curly hair but it's not effective in mine. So, I asked for his recommendation on products to control the frizz and he could only recommend a $300 treatment?? He didn't even recomment the Tressemme he was applying to my hair at the time! I expected a better knowledgebase from a "premiere celebrity stylist." I asked for him to add some shape to my hair and he said "all I can do for you today is long layers" as if he only had enough time for that (he was the one who showed up late!) but I suppose he changed his mind halfway through because he didn't add any layers, just a straight plain cut -- didn't even thin the ends, which is ideal for thick curly hair. It's possible that i was gettig slighted because of the introductory package that drew me in, but if they're relying on word of mouth to promote sales, they should treat the introductory offers much better. Although, I must give credit where it's due, the woman who shampooed and conditioned my hair was incredibly nice and was so pleasant. I won't be back, not even for the rest of the package that I haven't used (and already paid for). Dima Salon doesn't have anything to offer that I couldn't find elsewhere. And there's really nothing compelling me to go back. read more

Disclaimer: loved my haircut, loved my hairdresser/stylist. I'm giving this place a shit review for the owner and the atmosphere. The atmosphere was not chic, professional, nor was it trendy. It was like the painfully forced copycat little brother. The owner waltzed around chatting on Skype on his iPad the entire time, ignoring the clients, being pretentious in his over-one-eye hat while the ONE stylist that was there juggled three of us. Then when came time for the bill the stylist got publicly verbally reprimanded by the owner about submitting the bill incorrectly. The owner was smug and not at all friendly to the stylist, nor to me. He had a negative, holier than thou attitude that really turned me off of ever going here again. In his defense, maybe he was having an off-day. But if that's how he always acts, homie needs an attitude adjustment and a reality check. read more

This was one of the worst haircuts I've had in a long, long time. I went in for this $60 promotion, which promised all of these extras with the hair cut such as intense conditioning, blow dry etc. All of the things included in the promotion were basically just what you would get with a normal hair cut. I guess I should've known because a salon that had a good reputation would not need to use a promotion to lure customers in. Anyways, just like the other reviews said they were really rude. The stylists were yelling with eachother infront of me and bickering about money. It was just a really uncomfortable experience. I only went in for a trim and asked for some layers. The woman put in 4 really distinct layers, Its been over a month and i can still see where each section starts and ends. They weren't blended at all like i asked, you could see lines straight across the back of my head where each section ended. It also took her about 10 minutes to cut my long hair, basically it was just awful. I would never go back, and do not reccomend it at all. read more

My first visit to this location was wonderful. Jorge is amazing! My hair had old color in it and he spent the time fixing every detail of my hair until it was perfect. He knew what he was doing, was all great at his job and I love how my hair came out! Thoughtful and careful, he doesn't whip through the haircut. Spends time with his clients and will take the time making adjustments. I wasn't sure what I wanted and he gave great recommendations that turned out even better than what I had in mind. No rush, great style, trust him with your head! He's so skilled and so sweet. Everyone is friendly and talkative but will also respect you if you need some peace and quiet. The service was great, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, the ambience was very pretty and elegant. Definitely a competitive price compared to other salons in the area. Super worth it! So, like many others in the filtered reviews, I bought the $65 package deal from the "alternative advertising" guys on the street. However, I didn't see all of the filtered reviews until about 10 minutes before leaving for my appointment and naturally I started freaking out. However, my experience was totally fine. It wasn't above average, but the customer service was good and my haircut is fine. When I first walked in (about 7 minutes late), they took my jacket and scarf and hung it up. Ezequiel came out, asked me my name, introduced himself, and talked to me about what I wanted for my hair. He did try to offer me a keratin treatment "for a good price" but when I told him I wasn't interested, he backed off immediately. Then I went for the wash, and had the cellophane clear shine done, which was part of the deal. By this point, most salons have offered you a drink... they didn't here, but I'm pretty low key (and I rarely drink water), so it didn't bother me. However, it is strange that one of the reviewers says that Dima always offers his clients a drink, because it didn't happen for me! The woman washing my hair was very friendly. The water was a good temperature. When she put me under the hair dryer to set the shine treatment, she offered me magazines to read. The cut went quickly, but Ezequiel took time to make sure everything was straight. He blow dried it and it looks fine. The one thing is that he asked if I wanted side bangs, and I said no, but a little face framing would be good. The front ended up starting a little shorter than I would like. However, it doesn't look bad, it just isn't exactly what we talked about. That would be my one complaint. Also, the deal includes a deep mask treatment, which Ezequiel recommended I shouldn't do, because it would flatten out my relatively fine hair. I didn't know enough about the treatment to make an informed decision, so I took his word for it. Hopefully he wasn't just saying it to avoid doing it! I think not, because the deal allows me to transfer any of the components to someone else, so I suppose I can pass along the deep mask treatment to someone with thicker hair. UPDATE: It's been a couple days since the hair cut, and I've gotten TONS of compliments on my hair. I've even gotten compliments now that I've styled it myself (you know those haircuts that look great when your stylist blows it out for you, but then you get home and you can't replicate it and it looks terrible?). I got a haircut here twice. Like any other normal person I give things a second chance. The first time was kind of overpriced and not my best cut ever but, like I said, I tried again. English is not my first language either but I do use it to communicate in this city. However, at the salon, even the most simple questions or comments were not understood. A little annoying. However, that is not my real complaint. The first time I went there, they 'forgot' my appointment and managed to squeeze me in. The hair dresser seemed annoyed with the fact that he 'had' to do me because I'd made an appontment. The second time, he came in late, about 10 minutes, with a girl on his arm and a takeaway coffee in the other hand. The whole time, again, he seemed annoyed and, I'm pretty sure, stoned! I randomly walked into this salon because I was looking for Salon III's new digs. I find out that my hair stylist is out of town and I needed my hair cut today. The owner Dima cut my hair. I entered the wrong name on Yelp so I wasn't able to read the previous reviews. While Dima cut my hair, he kept saying he hated Groupon and other discounting services. Now that I read the reviews, I can see that he had a bad experience and perhaps undercharged for his services. I paid $150 for the haircut and it is worth every penny. He spent over an hour cutting my hair into the sleekest bob I have ever had. I actually went cycling after my haircut and washed my hair, and the hair was perfectly smooth and looked polished after it air dried (I don't really use blow driers). He is a meticulous hair stylist and it is unfortunate that there are so many scary reviews. He charged me a high price and the quality of the haircut was in line with what he charged. read more
