With a reserved tent site for the Tuesday night of July 3rd, we rolled in after 9pm and saw that management had a personalized map taped to the check-in door for us. The map directed us to tent site T-19. Following the clearly defined map, we were directed to an absolutely gorgeous tent site! The site was grassy, roomy and located on the Beaverhead River [ which is really stream-sized.] We fell asleep to the sounds of burbling water. Very pleasant. Our site had a red painted wood picnic table and a fire pit. Though located next to the stream sized river, I only saw one tiny mosquito at 9am the next morning and he was quickly dispatched--sorry little guy, it was you or me. The only downside to the location was that I heard a train whistle at 5:30am. My wife didn't hear it so maybe I am a lite-sleeper. We didn't use the heated pool but it looked nice and clean and could see steam coming off it in the morning light. Bathrooms are clean and well maintained. There is also a store but never made it inside. It looked full the night we arrived and would recommend reservations but they do have a large meadow for overflow. This KOA has a lot of love and care poured in to it, would definitely come back again.

I have to rate it in the middle. For about $38 (pull thru hookups). I expect more. Grounds were nice. Staff very friendly. No sewer connection on my site and the fire pit was full of trash from a previous camper. Compared to another place with RV sites in town this KOA is far superior. They were nearly full so I guess they can command the price. It was quiet and I enjoyed the one night stop over.

    Our favorite spot!

Once again the KOA surpasses all past best memories. Bob is still the sweetheart who works so hard all day everyday. From where to explore to wood delivery. He's funny, entertaining & a delightful host. He put us back in "our" spot which we really appreciate. #Dillon

Very gracious and easy to talk to, Miss Ernie has a clue about what it takes to manage a campground. We stayed here twice, heading north to Glacier and back down. The pull thrus are spacious with full hook ups. For my Petite, Red Headed Passion Flower and I, evening sunsets were a celebration us in this beautiful part of Dillon. While 2 or 3 miles from town, this is a good base for exploring locally or if you just wanna spend the night. Far enough from the interstate so that traffic noise is not an issue but very easy to get to. (look for the flashing beacon!). We set up camp here for several days and rode our motorcycle all over. We used the laundry facilities which were very tidy and we used the showers once which were also very clean. Wifi was some of the best we had on our one month trip. This appealed to my inner geek although wifi is not really a big deal while we are camping. All in all, highly recommend this property and be sure to pester Miss Ernie about anything Apple!

While checking in to the Rambling Moose RV Park, I could immediately tell that this was a very nice RV park... As a matter of fact, it was a nicest park I stayed in between Oregon and Virginia city! Everything appeared brand new and Kim, the owner, pointed out all of the many amenities that they offered.... including her quilted art artwork! Beautiful! I must've looked pretty sick because Kim, out of the kindness of her soul, refused to allow me to sleep on the ground in the cold that evening. She gave me a camping cabin at no additional cost! Next the next morning, I still felt very ill and was unable to ride my bike. I asked her if she could help me find someone who could take me and my gear from Virginia City to West Yellowstone, which was my destination for that day. Kim, and her husband Greg, without blinking an eye, offered to help me! Kim drove me the 85 miles from Virginia City to West Yellowstone so I could get a hotel room while I recovered from this debilitating stomach issue, People like Kim and Greg of the Rambling Moose RV park are the kind of people that care about their guests and make sure that their guests are comfortable and happy with their experience. Wonderful Folks!!!!!!!

This property is located 1/2 mile from "the center" of Virginia City…read more We accidentally booked the cabin with 2 beds. Since it is just 2 of us, we thought it best to leave 2 beds available for a family that might need it. We emailed them to switch us to the single queen bed. They were very quick in their response. No issues or problems, we were switched. As we pulled in, my first impression was how immaculate and pristine the property looked. The lines between the gravel and grass were clean and straight. The grass was well manicured and green. The gravel was thick and pretty. There was nothing but beauty to see. These people care about their property. There are shaded tent-spots steps away from a covered picnic table and a real bathroom (a bathroom with lights, soap, hot water, a flushing toilet and an outlet to charge your phone). Next to the office are free hot showers, real bathrooms, coin-laundry facilities and a sink to wash dishes. Everything was spotless during our 48 hour stay. We stayed in a cabin. There was a small covered porch with 2 plastic resin chairs and a small plastic resin side-table. Next to the cabin is a picnic table and a grill for briquettes when there is no fire ban. Inside, there is a very comfortable, memory foam queen bed that is wrapped in a protective cover. The bed frame is made of logs and is beautiful. Bring your own linens and pillows. We travel with sleeping bags and pillows. There was a lamp, heater, fan, 2 screened windows, a side table, a small square dining table and 2 chairs. The floor is a washable surface (vinyl fake wood?). Because every surface was washable, it was very clean upon our arrival. All cabins have electricity. Check-in was a breeze. The owner was a delight. We talked for several minutes. My most important message to convey to anyone deciding to stay here is this: Safety, trust and piece of mind. They have a strict rule regarding dogs off leash. During our 48 hour stay, we witnessed one dog off leash for a minute. This was quickly addressed and not seen again. I appreciated this very, very much. When you enter the campground, it is clearly posted that only registered guests can continue or you must check-in the office. As we arrived, the owner immediately stepped outside and was greeting us. To me, this means they are very aware of who is in camp. Half the time, we did not lock our cabin. Additionally, they have ice for sale for $2.75. They could gouge the consumer and charge much more. Instead, I feel, they are decent people. Thank you for a wonderful 2 days at your property.

Great Alternative to the State Park…read more This is a small, well-kept campground just off the highway, about 15 minutes from Lewis & Clark Caverns. The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was peaceful. We had a tent site in the back, and all sites are conveniently close to the bathrooms, which were extremely clean and recently updated. A nice bonus--there's free use of a washer and dryer, plus stream access. The highway is nearby, so there is some road noise, but it didn't bother us. We were initially disappointed that we couldn't get into the state park, but this ended up being an even better option. On-site, there's a food truck serving amazing BBQ, live music, a small bar, a general store, and even a gas station. Everything you need is right there. Would definitely stay here again!

The owner( I think he never fully introduced himself and had been on one of the 2 lawnmowers) helped me get the glass cleaned up and triied to call for repairs, but after that, radio silence. He still hasn't answered my text 8 hours later. He said he didn't cut through site #2 on his mower ( I was in site #1), but later that evening, I saw the tractor mower cut through site #2. The least he could do was offer to refund the night's fees. Cute general store, and they serve ice cream, but no integrity as a business owner.
