Holmes and their wonderful 1st floor bakery. - You brought back memories of being on-air-air from the central court of Lakeside with a WDSU live remote. - You brought back fond memories of Maison Blanche (MB)--which was always my favorite store, much to the chagrin of my mom--who often met my dad under the clock at D. H. Holmes on Canal. Of course, the funny thing is that your store was never a Maison Blanche; that was at Clearview. And I knew that when I called to check inventory because I mistakenly asked the operator if this was D. H. Holmes. :-D - You made a memory for my new bride and me to share the unique New Orleans tradition that is Mr. Bingle. But, most of all, you restored my faith in the fine people of New Orleans, which is my adopted hometown although not my birthright. People who will go out of their way for even a small sale to make something they don't understand come true for someone. People often with small pockets but truly big hearts. I'm a regular customer in the big and tall men's department where I purchased a polo shirt for $100 so when I get home and put it in my closet I realize I already have the exact same color shirt already so I bring it back to the store to get a refund mind you I paid with Apple Pay with no issues so the store is unable to give refunds if you pay with Apple Pay and I was forced to take a gift card so anyone reading this don't fall victim to this tactic that Dillards lakeside mall location is putting costumers through read more

On December 20, 2025 I visited the mens department to return some items. I went to the Murano. I made contact with a black female with short hair. I proceeded to the register and the clerk told me to go see the Asia lady on the other side of the store near the coats. The Asian lady's name is Rebecca Baker and she has impecable customer service. On the way to see Rebecca another customer service representative attempted to assist me, black female with glasses and brown hair. She was pretty nice. I am well aware that the workers don't want returns on the register but when ever I am in dillards I spend over 600 or more. After returning the items Rebecca advised that there was a sale on coats, I bought several items totaling well over a thousand even though I had a 300 return. It pays to be nice. read more

Got a James Avery ring as a gift and it was just a tad bit too small. I went to James Avery inside of Dillards to exchange for a bigger size. First of all it took me forever to find someone to help me and then on top of that they wouldn't let me exchange it. The ring is brand new and still had the tag on it. But because I couldn't probe that it was bought through Dillards they wouldn't help me. According to James Avery you can exchange jewelry at any location. I know Dillard's is just another department store, but it really isn't. Any time I have been in a Dillard's, there has been someone with a smile to help me. This might not sound like a lot, but when you're in the Christmas/holiday season, it's hard to find someone in retail really happy to be doing their job. I was in a single-mindset to stock up on some Mr. Bingle décor and socks before everything was picked over for the season. Their selection was overflowing up in the Bingle section. Far more than I could ever afford, but I was able to stock up on some new ornaments. Huge bummer, however, was that there weren't any in boxes to help me travel back to Georgia to keep the breakables in one piece. Then, headed down to the men's department for Bingle socks. They only had one pattern left (and only two pairs of that), so I snatched one up. The clerk told me that they were flying like hotcakes. Dually noted, buy socks earlier next year. Dillard's is a go-to for me whenever I need a dress for a special occasion. That's literally the first thing that comes to mind when I think of this store. I can look everywhere else, and I almost always make the purchase at Dillard's. The quality of their merchandise is excellent. They carry most well known designers and their sales offer really deep discounts. Sometimes I have a hard time finding a sales associate, but once I find someone they are usually very helpful. They also carry housewares, furniture, designer bags, gobs of accessories, Godiva chocolate and shoes. My biggest gripe about this particular store is that the women's clothing department is so spread out. It's organized by designer so if you're looking for a particular article of clothing you could literally spend hours going from one designer section to another to another to another. I understand the concept, but I'm not a shopper, so I like to get in and out of a store as quickly as possible. read more

I suppose being the duchess of this joint I should write a review! Hehe...my mother and I LOVE Dillard's! Even though I always park at Macy's by the shoes and purses (hey, we all have our vices) I still head down to Dillard's for one main purpose-their Vera Bradley collection! I may be slightly addicted to her accessories. I don't want a quilted purse but I have the cell phone holder, iPod nano holder, and in time I plan on adding more items. Anther wonderful tidbit that I learned was that Dillard's will accept my 40% off coupon for a Coach item. FYI, if you send a Coach item to be repaired via the Coach store and try can't fix it you can request for them to mail you back your item (in my case a coach wallet) and they sent me this coupon-wonderful sales practice! So I scoped the Coach items to look for a future purchase. Although I like my Kenneth Cole ask purse it's so slouchy that things can fall out of the outside pocket since I overstuff it like a pack mule! You would think my entire life is in that purse, which in fact it is. I believe it can be registered as a legal weapon bc if it drops on your foot you will need a cast! Hehe... Dillard's also has great shoe sales and makeup deals. Whenever Estée Lauder has special gift my mother will ask me to bring her like clockwork to Dillard's. I don't even mind bc I get some makeup as well (which if you know me the only thing I occasionally put on is lipstick if someone is taking my picture or full makeup without foundation if I'm going on a hot date or it with the girls!). I love how fancy I feel when I shop here. My most recent visit was to look at shoes and for Mr. Bingle items. Their selection of shoes can not really be beat, they have a wide variety. They have a wide variety of everything here at this location. Customer service can be feast or famine here. During the holiday season and the back to school period, you can hardly walk 5 feet without being asked if you need any assistance. I was here and I needed some new shoes for an event, so naturally I was going to get some Jessica Simpson heels. I love the selection of shoes here because they are well priced and the staff is knowledgeable. I ended up finding the perfect pair of (really high) black pumps that I was happy to wear to a Yelp event. Along with shoes, this store has a nice selection of handbags and fragrances. I'm not sure if this Dillard's is bigger than the Westbank location- it seems like it, but I could be wrong. This location does seem to have a wider selection of whatever I happen to be looking for, so I would come back if I was in the area. read more

I despise department stores, let's just get that out of the way. This review is for the utterly outstanding- in the true meaning of the word- customer service recently offered to us in the men's shirts department. After spending roughly 20 minutes speaking to a salesman by the name of Jeffrey, I was left wondering if I had stumbled into a time machine leaving me to experience those halcyion days when being a salesperson in a clothing store was actually a respectable career and not this job that someone has to suffer through (yeah, I've been there). Jeffrey's passion for fashion is incredible. His passion for helping his customers find clothing that compliments their physique, coloring and personality is phenomenal. I mean, I've never in my life have seen this happening in a *men's* department! He's a true asset to the company and I just had to write this review to give Jeffrey the recognition he deserves. I don't really have anything else to say about Dillards. It's a typical department store (though props for having a decent cosmetics area). But go there just for Jeffrey! I should hire him as a personal shopper, because if he's this good with the guys, I bet he'd outfit me to look like a damn movie star. read more

Not really my kind of store. But if you asked my wife, you would get a totally different answer for her. It is the place I go when I need to replace my dress shoes. They have a decent selection of men's' shoes and if you catch them on sale, the price is right. As for the clothing, if you like overpriced designer clothing, it is OK. And it seems like something is always on sale. I don't have the habit of cruising the store on a weekly basis to catch the sales. So I seldom buy much there for me. The reason it rises to 4 stars is... Mr. Bingle. I love going to this Dillard's however the sale this time was a bit of a bummer for me. It's usually so lively in here, but I still walked away with two pairs of shoes my last visit. They recently renovated a few months ago so the outside so it's beautiful to look at. My mom always fawns over the palm trees she can never afford. The sales associate are quite attentive in assisting you. I love the little events they sometimes have right at the entrance into the mall on Saturdays. It ranges from time to time. Sometimes it's a launch for a new perfume, some kind of fashion show, or the haunted houses promote during halloween. Sometimes you get some freebees from the tables out there. It's clean in my opinion at this location. Shoes are usually were they're suppose to be. My mom likes looking for suites in the Petite section. Things are usually quite organized when we go. It not like Nordstrom luxurious but it's pretty up there compared to other places I've been. It was convenient for me to stop by when I use to work at this mall, but I still stop by when I go shopping with my mom and weekends. read more

Clothing store in the mall. Staff is very friendly but a little pushy about there commissions. My son and I needed suit jackets. The guy in that department was awesome. So helpful and so knowledgeable. My son needed a couple items from the next department over. The suit department held our stuff for us while we continued. After finding the items for my son the sales person was upset with us that we where going to just buy everything with the suits. So since she made us feel awkward we made 2 purchases 10 feet apart. The store is good. The experience can be hit or miss. read more

You know, often times, Dillard's has something that I want and it's frustrating because I actually don't enjoy at this location. As always, I try to tell a story in my reviews and this will be no exception. I hope Dillard's takes notice and enacts an in-store adjustment. Every time I shop at this location, it's for one thing: clothes. I'm particular about my clothing purchases, too. I like fine clean-cut Perry Ellis, Calvin Klein and more recently, merino wool infused pieces from Murano. What I find troubling on most visits to this location is that clothing isn't organized. Normally priced items are frequently found on the sale racks but not listed as such. It's only when you get to the register that you find out. Slacks and stacks of folded pants are just as messy, with 40 waists in with the 29's. For the pre-packaged shirts, such as Gold Label, Trump Collection and BCBG, it's quite a chore to go through every single package to make sure that the fit is correct. 14" necks are in with the 17" and vice versa. Doesn't anyone ever sort through this stuff?? Now, my real gripe is with the staff. It's obvious that they make a commission on items sold, based on what I've witnessed and altercations I've been privy, too. That's right, I said it. Altercations. You're thinking "what kind of altercations would take place in a department store, between staff, nonetheless?" So glad you asked. Since I've experienced this several times on my shopping ventures, I'm going to detail my most recent one. I had come in, mainly looking for button-down dress shirts. If I had happened to come across a nice pair of slacks, too, that would have been fine. What made my shopping miserable were the overzealous department staff members that seemed to circle the area like vultures and I was their carrion. Every minute or so, a different staff member would rush up to me and ask me if I needed help or if I wanted to try something on. They also asked me if someone was helping me and then became increasingly persistent in getting the point across that when I was ready to check out, that I MUST see them at THEIR register in THEIR department. The whole time I was trying to shop and sift through disorganized clothing racks, I was ducking and dodging these employees like a prize fighter, and if one happened to make it into my general proximity, I had to shake them off like a hater! In this particular scenario, an elderly female employee came to me politely and asked me again, if I needed help. I said no and again, she instructed me to see her when I was ready to check out. Later, and on a different side of the floor, I was approached by a young, black male employee who told me the same thing. When I was ready to check out, I happened to be in the area of the elderly woman. Look, when I shop, I don't give a damn where I am so long as I can check out and get moving. No one in this situation helped me. I came in, chose my own clothes, tried them on and now, I was ready to pay for them. I approached the register and as the elderly woman was checking me out, the young, black employee ran up to the register and in an intimidating fashion, got right up in the face of the elderly female employee and scolded her for taking HIS customer. She backed away and scolded him right back, explaining that she had found me first and that he was always trying to steal her customers. They exchanged a few choice words and phrases before both of them turned to me and asked that I authenticate their claims. I sternly said no and further explained that their outbursts were ridiculous, especially in front of a customer. The young man turned away angrily while I was still speaking and the elderly woman muttered a few more choice words and said "I don't know what's wrong with him....he always does that!" As I was leaving, I saw who I assumed was a manager figure (a well dressed female with a radio who was giving instruction to a couple employees in a storage room). I called her out and explained what I had just witnessed. She apologized but it wasn't very convincing. She simply continued explaining that they encourage their employees to push sales. So, more or less, this altercation was acceptable. Friendly competition? I think not. It's unacceptable. Oh yeah, and please clean up your dressing rooms. Two of mine had broken door knobs so the doors didn't close, the drywall was cut open and the floor was littered with pins from shirt collars. In one department, customers had to try clothes on in a bathroom that appeared to be in the early stages of remodeling. The ceiling was caved in, there were bits of drywall everywhere, a rusted out sink and again, the door didn't close, which was tragic because I walked in on a bare naked, heavyset male, which I've been trying desperately to wipe from my memory. I've actually seen cleaner bathrooms in dive bars than these alleged 'fitting rooms'. read more

I've never been to a Dillard's until today. Yeah, I know, weird. Anyhow, it's the usual department store plethora of everything. We were looking for something to pass as a junior bridesmaid dress for my to-be niece, and a flower girl dress for my daughter. They have a HUGE selection of juniors dresses - both casual & dressy. Kids' dresses? Not so much. There were some clearance Christmas things, but nothing else. We picked out a beautiful dress for the niece, and went elsewhere for the munchkin. I use to really like Dillard's because they carried a large supply of my favorite brands, namely Boss, but they have went down a notch for me. They carry many of the brands Macy's now carry edging some of the more higher end one's out. Why anyone would go to Dillard's to buy Polo or Calvin Klein when one is sure to find the same thing at Macy's for a better price is beyond me. I shop at Dillard's often. I ordered a dress online and went into the store to return it. No one was standing at the register so I walked around the store to find an associate who could assist me. i walked up to 2 ladies chatting. No one had on a name tag so I hoped that they worked there. They did. I asked for assistance and one lady pointed me back to the register where she followed me. She just looked at me so I initiated the conversation. I sat my dress and receipt on the counter. She looked at it and said, "You bought that online?" I answered and she begin putting the info in her system. "You want it back on your card?" I answered yes and then she said ok. That was the end of the conversation. No "Hi, thank you." NOTHING. I worked here for a couple of months. Mr. Jones and the blonde Leslie (not Leslie Coco) we're absolutely horrible to work for. Leslie lied to me about getting the employee discount from "getting the Dillards credit card," which was absolutely not true. They never gave me an employee discount at all because Leslie filed the card as a customer card and didn't apply it under an employee card and never intended on telling me the truth. They are sneaky and manipulative. They overpaid me in my paychecks and when I realized I wanted to be honest about it so I brought it to the attention of both Leslie and Mr. Jones. I was repeatedly told that I was crazy and that the amount was correct. Finally after the third time I brought it up they yelled at ME acting like I "stole" that money from them when I was the one who brought it to their attention in the first place. Then, they told me I owed them $600 more than the actual amount that I owed them and waited weeks to tell me that they lied about the amount and THEY were the ones to owe me money. They are extremely disorganized as a company and overall terrible people to work for. Do yourself a favor and don't support a company that treats its workers like trash. read more

I went to 5 different stores in the mall looking for a shoe box for a gag gift (wrapping up old shoes for my dad and saying I'd take him Shoe shopping). I had plenty of purchases and clearly was active in the mall. Went today to exchange some shoes I had bought at another location for a larger size. The staff in the shoe department were friendly and processed my exchange quickly. That was my only reason for my visit until I saw all the clearance racks. So I looked through them and found some good deals. Every sales associate I passed offered me service. Wonderful. I was travelling in New Orleans and thanks to a flight delay due to the "Storm of the Century" in January of 2014 I had some time to kill. I was thankful that Dillard's had free WiFi as travelling Canadians are shackled to their cell provider like a prisoner in a chain gang. In terms of most department stores I have been in, it was quite small as it was only one floor. They did pack as much as they could into that one floor including several sub-shops. One in particular I was interested in was Coach, as I needed a present to bring home. After wandering around the mini-Coach store for 10 minutes I could not find anyone to assist me. All of the products were inside locked cabinets, and so were the prices. I wanted to get some price information, but no one was anywhere near to assist. Thankfully there was a full Coach store within the mall, where I got great service and walked out several hundred dollars poorer. I have to be lenient, as many of the staff may have been stuck at home because the highways were closed. But, to be fair I made it to the mall in cab, the staff could have as well. read more

The shoe department is very impressive with the vast inventory of shoes...from flip flops to stilettos! I feel like Verruca from (the original) Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory wander around the well-lit display of shoes. EXCEPT, I don't have a rich daddy promising me each and every shoe that tickles my fancy and there are no oompa-loopas --thank goodness, right? That would be weird. Shoes are displayed by brand, which I love. Some people prefer a color coding type of display, but I'm pretty brand loyal so the arrangement by designer really blows up my skirt. The best part about this shoe department is the staff. I really have to tip my hat to Dillards, because I don't shop here often. My mom poisoned Dillards for me, as she loathed them once they bought out DH Holmes and Maison Blanche, so I'm a Macy's girl. Enough shopping history, the reason why I love the staff is because the department is very well-staffed, with friendly employees, eager to learn your shoe size and lay a tower of shoe boxes before you. Another plus for Dillards is that their shoe department is accessible from the lot, so you don't have to wander through the whole store, or the mall, to arrive at this shoe mecca. I highly recommend stopping here when searching for shoes at Lakeside. This could be a new happy place for me to pass the time.........Happy shopping! read more

Never expected to hate an experience at Dillard's. I was shopping for a suit ( I have interviews for jobs coming up) the sales lady saw me looking for a fitting room, first she tells me maybe it's better for me to us the fitting room across hers then she realizes no one is there, then she comes back to me and opens the dressing room, I was shocked why she did not want me to use her fitting room. After that my mother in law asked her if she can check a size online for us, she said she will look in the store , even though we told her we looked around she was very unwelcoming and looked , then she directed us to the lady who is taking care of the area. This lady when I asked her to look for another size she looked at me and said well this suit jacket isn't on sale, I said that's ok , then she was like well it's 199 , oh and 199 + tax , and I said that's fine , then she gave me a look of "ok I'll look", I felt so mad because I had to explain a million times that I am ok with the price and I just need a size,good thing they didn't have my size because even if I did I probably wouldn't have bought it. I never go the mall to shop but the year after Hurricane Katrina right before the NFL Draft i got a new job working for Chevron Corp. and i needed some new pants and shirts so i went to Dilliard to get me some Ralph Lauren Polos and pants. I went to the Mall in Jeans and a t-shirt. When i arrived at Dilliard's no one asks to help me and i tried to stop two women working and one guy (all african american) and they all was like i'll send someone over to you in a minute i'm doing something. so i was like do they think i'm a thug because of the way i'm dressed or do they think i'm not gonna purchase anything. I couldn't beleive the service i was receiving. So now i'm thinking that this is another reason why i won't be shopping at Malls too. So i finally found some clothes that i liked and started going throught them looking for my size and then this very nice white lady came over and asked can she help me. I had an attitude by then but this lady took her time and got down on her knees and help me find 7 shirts and 5 pair of pants. When we got to the counter my card wouldn't pay for the clothes. I was so embarrassed and then two of the other associates walked over and i overheard them saying i knew he didn't have any money to pay that's why i don't waste my time with people like him. I was about to go off but i remembered that i had just bought 4 season tickets for the Saints and when i tried to buy those clothes my credit card company had froze my card because they suspected my card of being stolen. so i asked the lady to keep those clothes together for me until the next day and i promised to come back and buy them when i get off of work at 4:00pm. She said sure and she did. I came back the next day dressed in business attire and the same sales people were there and i came back and paid for my clothing and i gave the lady a $100 for all her help and for keeping me from having to go through all those clothes again. While she was ringing up all my clothes i walked off to look at some more shirts that i didn't see the day before and one of the other sales people walked over and ask me could they help me. I didn't get ugly with him but i told him i was fine. I have never been back to that Dilliard's since but i hope that there customer service has gotten alot better than what i received. I am really thankful for the lady who did help me but it wasn't enough for me to continue shopping there. Thankyou Dilliard's for nothing and thankyou maam for everything! read more
