She's super friendly and warm with a nice, short edgy hairdo. I knew I was in for a treat and my visit included the works: Appointment: Easy as pie. The gentleman who helped me set an appointment made a special effort to squeeze me in right at 5:30 with only a day's notice. I desperately needed the cut, lol. Atmosphere: Professional yet cozy and friendly. Sharon offered me a comfortable robe so I could get out of my collared work shirt and cool off for my appointment. Services provided: Shampoo and Condition, Consultation, Cut (super cute, Sharon left my hair long but with a ton of bounce and shine), Blow Dry and Style including a few strategically-placed passes with a flat iron, Eyebrow wax, and Lip Wax. Yes... really, all for $38. However I'm not sure about their everyday pricing, so you should ask ahead of time. I think everything took a reasonable amount of time and I felt really pampered. My hair definitely hasn't looked this good in months... nay, make that YEARS. Let me just mention that my hair is incredibly damaged because I'd bleached it three or so times in the past few months. My fault, but it's otherwise hard to make my hair bright purple. Sharon sold me some shampoo and conditioner by JOICO (Color Endure). What I thought was fantastic is the result is great even though she used NO OTHER products in my hair and it still looks and feels amazing. It's rare that styling products don't need to be used to get my look while protecting my hair. In all, my visit to LiVolsi was worth every penny. They shouldn't be surprised to see me again in a few months. If you're on the fence about this place, definitely give it a go. :)

My natural hair color is "dishwater blonde", yet she makes my hair look natural and shiny in whatever color I ask her for. I have thin, wavy hair and she knows exactly how to work with it so I can look good when I style it on my own. The rest of the staff is friendly and welcoming. When I leave the salon, I look and feel amazing. I live in Stamford and have no problem with driving up to Hamden for an excellent cut and color that always receives compliments.

I've read the comments below and have to disagree- The owner is very experienced and he is the only person that cuts & colors my hair. My hair is never damaged after color or highlights. As for other salons that have done my hair- they have fried it! I recommend this place. Some things can be updated in here but overall it's a trustworthy salon. As far as the pink highlights comment below, everyone knows that those colors never stay in the hair. It's common sense. Once you bleach the hair that light your color is surely going to fade. If you wanted something that lasts longer try sticking with a natural shade.

For those non-asian men out there, it might seem as if our hair is so simple to handle because it looks like someone just took a number 2 clipper to our entire head... you are wrong! There is definitely an art to it and DV will hook you up. I found him through Yelp almost 6-years ago after reading one review raving about how finally there was someone in new haven who knew how to cut Asian hair. He's been doing his thing here for way more than a decade so it's been a disservice that this is the only second review that I know of mentioning DVs prowress with Asian hair. Of course he isn't just limited to Asian men hair and has days where he only does women hair coloring and haircuts and whatever else women get done to their hair. I feel like just about every other person who works at Yale new haven hospital is taken care of by him. He's like the mayor of new haven. Talk to him next time you in his chair! The cut was a little on the pricier end, especially considering how long I was there ($30 for a wash and cut that took 10 minutes) but I had a good experience and the haircut was very overdue so it was worth the money. Third, Daniella (our stylist) did a great job working with a toddler at her first haircut, letting her sit on my husband's lap, going very gently with her, and working quickly. Finally, the price of $25 was reasonable - note that it's a cash-only salon, so make sure you stop at the ATM. (Also note - it's only 10 minutes away from Neil's Donuts in Wallingford, the best donuts in the state, so you can treat your kid and yourself to something sweet afterward!) First, she asked how I wanted it cut, then she spun me around a few times in the chair fading the cut from all directions. She then manually cut the sides down to a 2 with perfect precision. Next, she finished the top and sent me on my way. I'm actually switching to Bellisima. The cost is cheaper, the cut was quicker and left me excited to show it off. While I can only speak to having Victoria cut my hair, the place was busy and happy. If you can set an appointment with Victoria, do it. You'll be happy you did.
