I had a pedicure with Tony on 7 March. When using the pumice file he was rough. Although I was bleeding as a result, I was still charged full price. A week later I still can not wear shoes - only flip flops. I tried to upload a photograph .... read more

I cheated on my nail shop and popped into YY Nails & Spa because it was close to the UPS I had to go to. The shop was clean so I decided to take a chance on it. I got a regular pedicure and a polish change on my finger nails. My pedicure was not done well as she rushed through it and didn't put a lot of effort into the scrubbing. Then, for the polish change, that didn't take much work on their end so it was quick as well. The experience didn't leave much of an impression on me but, they have an extensive collection of nail polish colors which left me in awe!! I went with the sage-y green which is super cute. read more

YY Nails & Spa - Nail Salons Near Me - Hamden, Connecticut

This nail salon is clean, professional, efficient. I just moved to the area and already can't wait to go back. I got a regular pedicure with Leo first. I thought I maybe died and went to heaven with the hot stones and the hot towel. He was great- made sure I left with the smoothest heels and well filed nails. I had a gel mani with Holly? Next. She was precise and intentional with the filing and painting. The best amount of pressure for a hand massage. I would have been cool with it lasting 30more minutes. Color selection was good for gel paint but I got the idea there may be a better selection with dip. Pricing was fair. Overall I think this place is 5 stars because it's VERY clean, relaxing environment and everyone was so attentive and polite. I love when I can get my nails done in a place that is friendly without being overly talkative. Relaxing and centering. I will be back. Like tomorrow. Lol jk- but soon! read more

I had my first pedicure today of the season. I was able to call and make an appointment right away which was great I felt that the pedicure was decent. I also felt that it was a little overpriced I normally would pay between 20 and $25 and this was way over that. I was willing to pay it since I did not have an appointment originally read more

My sister, mom, and I come here and we just absolutely love YY! Aimee, Donna, Tony, and May all do such exceptional work and are beyond consistent every time. Very fairly priced, and they more recently began adding more and more colors. The salon is clean and they are very quick. I recommend calling ahead because they are usually very busy (rightfully so), but they will always find a way to squeeze you in. They do excellent work with Dip/gel manicures and have great options for pedicures. I usually get a dip manicure with an almond shaped nail and they always come out great! Love love them. read more

Never again. I am absolutely disappointed. To start, my mother is visiting from Vegas and I decided to take her to this nail salon because I've been in the past without any issues. This was FAR from the case this time around. We made an appointment the day before, for 2 people for pedicures. Nice and early and with proper notice. We arrived and yes the salon is clean and inviting, BUT the service is BEYOND TERRIBLE. We were early for the appointment and was given about 4 minutes to find colors. We inquired about designs at the beginning with the manager who asked for a photo. We were called to sit down, and basically rushed into the chairs. I was asked multiple times what color I wanted and explained that we asked about designs and the manager said they wanted the photo. Both technicians then dismissed our request -- so we found something more simple, and when we inquired about if they had certain colors, they completely flat out just said, "no we don't have it" and didn't even TRY to help us. Moving forward, we sit down and move passed the colors. The entire time the technicians were clearly inexperienced and made my mother and I both feel like we were a bother!! The entire pedicure was not only RUSHED, but they didn't even ask what pedicure service we wanted! And to make it worse, they only trimmed, filed, and painted. With about 10 seconds of lotion and a pass of a stone. And even the response for the color I picked, they made it seem like $10 more would be a problem for me. The whole experience was A TRAIN WRECK. I was previously a customer and brought others but I will no longer be going back and will not recommend anymore!! As a customer, who is paying for services, I didn't appreciate how we were treated. It was NOT a relaxing experience and I will be bringing my money and time elsewhere. read more

I have been going to Y YNails for a bit now. I've always enjoyed everyone that there from Amy, May, Amber , and Tony to name a few of them. They are friendly and take time to get to know everyone. I was there last night and heard that someone thought that the staff were arguing and wanted to clarify that is not what was going on. I had the pleasure of them sharing with me everything and do understand I come from a loud Italian family and when we talk especially when we are excited people would take it wrongly. So I hope you don't let the experience discourage you from ever going to a wonderful place. read more

I went to this salon for the first time this week. I saw Rosa and she did an excellent job!!! I got the powder dip done and she was very good at what she does! Making sure my nails looked great and took her time. She also ended it with a neck message. Prices are reasonable too! $35 plus $2.00 if you pay with card. read more

Nice people and decent service. It is evident who is more experienced when it comes to doing nails - last time I went i had my nails shaped so perfectly. Better than ever before. When i went back a second time my nails were crooked... not shaped much at all. I would describe my nails as "squoval" if I had to. I've had friends have the same issue here. I will try again one more time, but if the problem persists I will have to find a new salon. It's a shame because I really like that they offer the dip powder gel. read more

Great place for your nails! Love the powder gel which lasts much longer. Best in the area! read more

my fingers were burning after I left!? my nails were chunky and bumps in them. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!

I recently went to YY Nails in Hamden because it is close to my college campus. I just got a regular manicure and while I was there the staff was extremely unfriendly to me. After I left, I started getting pain in my thumb and the following day I woke up to a swollen thumb and throbbing pain. I am assuming this infection is from a dirty tool used at the salon. Not only that, it's been three days and almost all of the polish has chipped. I will not be back! read more

Best manicure experience I've had in Hamden. I've tried a few of the salons in town, but none came out as symmetrical and well done as they did here. The woman who did my manicure was very friendly and I finally got through a manicure without getting nipped. A nice plus is that you get a certificate for money off on your next visit just for using cash to pay, and another one for getting gel powder (I think it was for that), on top of the usual customer rewards punch card. Great nail salon. Definitely recommend it! read more

Great pricing especially for the quality. I paid $50 for acrylics I'd normally pay $60 for! Very cleanly area and wonderful staff. Loved it!

So this is my second time going here and I absolutely love it; I see Linda and she is amazing. They offer so many options for pedicures that really work on your feet. And I am obsessed with my powder dip nails & best part is the small shoulder massage after your nails are done. So relaxing read more

Everytime I come here they treat me very well. For most of my visits I always get Kevin and he is by far super patient and considerate. I had an appointment on Mother's Day and my four year old accompanied me! The staff ensure she was taken care of as well as myself. Highly recommend. They always ensure your nails are beautiful and they actually take their time to do nails no matter who's waiting. I highly recommend this place for anyone new on the area! read more

I've been struggling to find a decent place that does the powder gel manicure for the longest time and I'm so happy that I finally started coming here. It's always a consistent manicure, and tends to last me longer than almost any other place. My last ser was on for about 3 weeks and still intact, which is practically unheard of. It's pretty clean, quiet, and everyone that works there is very nice. Lots of color choices too! These are my matte/Halloween nails. read more

Best manicure I've gotten in a long time! I got the powder gel and it came out perfect. The nail techs are friendly, take their time, and ask how you're doing throughout the process. The salon is extremely clean inside. You can pay with cash or card. I'll definitely be back :) read more

Pedicure was good. Would recommend that but the manicure was so unclean! They left cuticles still hanging on my finger and when I pointed it out they said it's how my skin is. Not worth the price! read more

Update after 1 week: This review is mostly from my second experience at this salon. After one week of a gel manicure, three of the polishes already chipped, which I'm really sad about since it is so expensive, at this point, I'm just going to grow them out and do them myself read more

Gave a decent pedicure but felt they did not have a lot of bright summer polishes. Also, I tried the powder gel manicure because I was told it will last longer than a regular gel manicure. I went on Friday June 7th and today they all lifted off and was able to peel them off like I had fake nails on. Very disappointed and will never get again! read more

This is my go to place. The environment is calm and relaxing and my nails always come out great!

The salon is clean and comfortable. I went in for a gel manicure. While I appreciate that a shoulder massage comes with the manicure, I did not appreciate the results. My nails were cut unevenly (or not straight across but slanted). The edges near my cuticles on the sides are spotty and jagged. I expect my nails to look like this two weeks in not on day 1. I'm disappointed because like I said it's a nice looking place, and I would have wanted to go back. read more

First off: BEST massage I have gotten with a pedicure in years. Maybe best ever. This place is immaculate, with everything being brand new. The USB ports in the chairs are something I will remember in the future. The owner did my pedicure and her attention to detail was phenomenal. The atmosphere is great, extremely relaxing. I really enjoyed the music which isn't something I normally say about a nail salon. Definitely my new nail salon. read more

$40 for OPI powder nails. Definitely not worth the money. Looks so unnatural. Nail technician was definitely not experienced enough to apply materials. Didn't have any other services so I'm not sure if those may be better. read more

I went here for the first time a little over a week ago for a powder gel manicure, which I have been getting for several months now. I loved how my nails looked initially and liked this place, but within 6 days of getting them done one of my nails chipped and today it happened again on a different nail. Two of my other nails appear to be cracked and haven't chipped yet, but I am assuming these nails will also chip soon. I've never had a problem with powder gel before or ever heard of powder chipping on someone. I usually wait 3+ weeks to get them redone so I am very disappointed that this happened so soon. read more
