But through a series of referrals, I finally got to Black Diamond Auto Wrecking, who were recommended by a local Portland wrecking yard. Black Diamond had the window for my particular car, and the price, including $60 to ship it, was around $136. I ordered it in the late afternoon on a Monday and I had it by Wednesday evening. I believe I spoke with Mike and he was polite and efficient. The service was generally excellent and I greatly appreciate their help. The only drawback was reaching them. Sometimes I had to call them several times to get to a live person. There were times that no one answered the phone. There were other times when the phone went to a message machine that could, at times, get you into an endless loop. At other times, the message machine would put you on hold briefly until someone answered. It was kind of inconsistent and something I'd suggest the company improve. Otherwise, they were great and the window they sold me, now installed, is working perfectly.

Here are my two standout experiences... A while back my car said it was overheating. I stopped by a Grease Monkey and they said I needed a new part that they would have to order and gave me a deadline. I was very suspicious of this . I then went to Burien Truck Repair and they told me they would look and charge me a diagnostic fee. In the end, they didn't need a new part, it just needed to be cleaned. They did that, lumped the diagnostic fee into the repair since they actually did it and saved me $200-300. They also gave me a ride to work while I waited! Next! Biggie! Things have been rough and my plate was stacked. I was pulling into the dentist last week and I suddenly heard the most horrendous noise. I was expecting to see a pipe dragging. Very flustered, I went in and the hygienist said she heard it too. I called BTR and Christy had me hold my phone out and drive back and forth a bit. She said that sounded terrible and, while they were about to close, rush over. I pulled in, getting many WTF looks. Christy ran over with another guy saying she heard it from the back. They immediately looked at it and said it wasn't safe to drive home and said they'd be on it first thing...and AGAIN gave me a ride! I got a call around 9 and...it was a rock. I drove over a rock and it wedged itself up behind my tire. The charge? $0! Wholly moly! So basically they are the best, not just in customer service and car repair, but hi just all around standout people. I can not express this enough. They did annual service on my Honda 75 4-stoike and it runs pretty sweet now. I've had it serviced elsewhere for years and it never ran this well. Service is pretty quick as far as I can tell. Mony is a nice guy and will try to help with advice. I've had the mechanics do the same, unprompted. If you're moored at South Park they'll come to your slip to check out your issue. Pretty good deal. And to that reviewer on here who gave them one star because he forgot to put his own drain plug back in before going out on the water? Dude that's your fault... Don't blame the business for that.

Overpriced $200/hour, slow, and careless…read more 8/20 update Boat engine would not start. Likely due to water damage caused by repair shop carelessness. 8/15 update Boat top speed was going lower, and alarm was starting to go off when going above 20. Took it in to Rick's. They said it was overheating but couldn't figure out the problem and kept changing things, water pump, electric fuse, wiring, and even the temperature gage which turned out to be fine. The alarm stopped, but the new temp gage which doesn't mast he my other gages, shows even higher temp close to 200. They forgot to put the plug back in and sent me on the water and the boat started sinking. I am lucky the engine didn't get damaged. I paid $7000 for this boat. It took them 4 weeks and cost me $2500 to have them fix the alarm. They kept saying they'd call me when things are done but never did. I had to call everyday to check on progress and they kept pushing it, blaming the tide, the parts, and so on. Still not sure what caused the alarm and what stopped it. They almost cost me the whole engine, and since they have you sign disclaimers they would take zero responsibility. Go somewhere else. Most places charge almost half the price for labor, are faster, and are probably less careless.
