We waited for AAA and had to leave our car unattended for a time because the spot we stalled, there was no cell reception: none! As the law states, only a state patrol can initiate impound, but you are allowed to leave a vehicle unattended to arrange a tow. You see where this review is headed? We waited for AAA. They picked us up and took us back to our vehicle only to find the Skykomish tow truck blocking our vehicle's front all prepared to hook up. I figured there was a misunderstanding so I let my AAA guy talk to the Sky Tow man. The Skykomish towing rep was totally trying to scam an impound out of us prematurely and lied to our face saying the police "want to impound it, so we have to wait to see what they say!" I tried to speak some sense by pointing out that "WE ARE HERE WITH A TOW, so let us tow our vehicle!" Instead he mumbled something about paying a half fee to let us tow it with our AAA. What???!!!!! To make the next event in this story have sense, the problem with our car needs to be known. Mind you, this is the day after thanksgiving and my girlfriend and I were trying to drive to a family dinner. We just bought an SUV that randomly doesn't start. We thought the problem was fixed but it wasn't apparently. What happened after finding this rude Skykomish Towing guy blocking our car was this: I occupied my car because they won't impound if you're occupying it and/or arranging a tow. I knew the police would side with us because I knew the law (which this towing company was clearly trying to impede upon) But just as we jumped into my car, which this towing company was trying to prevent, I thought to try to start it. It Started!!! IT STARTED! FUCK YOU SKYKOMISH TOWING! You were actually trying to entrap us into an unnecessary impound right during thanksgiving right when we had AAA with us, right while lying to our faces and blocking us. Well I back up and flipped a peel out U-Turn and ripped on home. It was great to watch your dumbfounded face confused as could possibly be while I peeled off!! This business is clearly corrupt! Don't use them or support them.

They reached out to Easy Towing, who was there in about 15 minutes despite the app asserting it could be up to an hour. Art took lots of pictures, and was careful with our front bumper (it was pretty low and the flat didn't help) and got our front and back wheels off the ground and the car towed away to the dealer in about 15 minutes more. We heard from the dealer later that night, the flat was fixed by 10pm, and we picked up the car the next morning. Thanks, Art and Easy Towing for making a painful experience as painless as possible!

The first red flag went up when Bates Bros Towing sent us a text message about meeting us and towing our car two hours before the agreed time. Then again when the driver called us 15 minutes before the appointment, rushing us because he arrived before the scheduled time. Then again when we met him and it turned out Bates Bros Towing sent their employee with a broken arm as the driver claimed. From that point on things just went down hill,and fast. When he saw that we were an interracial couple and heard that one of us spoke with an accent, the tow truck driver could not hide how upset he was with us. He refused to do his job, which was to tow our car for which we were paying, and blaming it on his broken arm. He did however call someone and loudly complained in front of us about our car not starting. That was quite surreal, a tow truck driver complaining about a stalled car. Did he think we invited him to a family BBQ(?) At that point we realized he wasn't going to help us and decided to call our insurance and ask to send us another tow truck. One that is willing to do the job. At this point the Bates Bros truck driver began calling us every deplorable word in the book. He connected with and agitated a mentally disturbed person who was neither the owner of the property or the car that was supposed to be towed and had nothing to do with us or the place where we were, inciting her to charge us with her pit bull. He then ran and hid in his truck like the coward that he is but refused to leave the premises. Then he called the Snohomish County Sheriff on himself. It's been a long time since I've seen this amount of stupid in one person. The Sheriff sent the truck driver away immediately since he refused to perform his job he was the one trespassing. Everyone else was made to vacate the premises so we could peacefully retrieve our stalled car. Insurance sent us another tow truck and they were awesome! We also got reimbursed to the penny for Bates Bros since we were on the call with them and all our interactions got recorded. In the end this was the most awful unprofessional and disgusting service I didn't get but had the displeasure of encountering. I heard from other people that this business gets referrals from the Snohomish County Sheriff. If that's the case, our local officials need to reevaluate as this represents them poorly. There is also another review of Bates Bros here on Yelp, but Yelp hides it under not recommended. If you value your dignity and peace of mind, steer clear of these people.

Luckily it was still daylight and we were able to comfortable hang out until the tow truck arrived (they made good time). The tow truck driver was incredibly helpful; before towing our car, he explored more than one reason the car might not be starting (trying to avoid a tow); he was very knowledgeable and helpful. He in fact correctly identified the problem within a couple of minutes (as we found out the next day from the mechanic). Once it was for sure that we could not get the car going, he obliged to tow the car to our chosen mechanic and once there, he even helped us park the car and fill out the overnight paperwork. He said he had quite a bit of traffic in Seattle to wade through, as it took him over an hour to arrive. However, once he arrived, he figured out a solution to my problem. He efficiently changed my front tire to the back and vice versa so he could tow it to the tire store. He worked quickly and was very polite. (I had no spare tire, so it was a bit challenging.)
