I looked everywhere for a pair of Grey Nike Sweats for my grandson for Christmas. He wanted a very specific style. Looked at the brand website and every other website that carried the brand . No luck! As a last ditch I called Dick's Sporting Goods in Tacoma. I was lucky enough to reach Brie. She stopped what she was doing and went to search the shelves. After many minutes she returned to tell me that she had found a pair in his size that had slipped down from a shelf. They were probably the only ones in the store. Thanks Brie! I've never been inside one of these because I associate them with guns and people who like guns who tend not to be my type of person. But my son dropped us off and my husband was looking for a bag for his laptop. We didn't find one, but they had a lot of clothing. And they had camping gear upstairs. And while I didn't buy anything, it was a nice store to walk around. There are two levels which was cool. The store was laid out nicely and the people working there were quite nice. I was looking for some winter wear and they weren't out. I probably wouldn't come to one again because I can find some stuff for layering in other places. read more

The shoe department is a disaster- I drove 40 miles out to this specific DICKS because they had the shoe in store- How you get your shoes to try them on: They have this little IPAD (they have 2) that you put in what you want to try on- (Look on the iPad as they do not have all the shoes displayed in the shoe department). You punch in what you want to try (if you have the shoe from the display you can scan the display barcode). Issues with this ridiculous system: -Let's say you want to try on 2 different sizes of the same shoe you have to go through the whole process again-1 shoe 1 size per entry -The Ipad thing is DIRTY- clearly, no one cleans it. While I was waiting for my shoes I saw a small child who had just stuck her fingers up her nose touching and wiping her little hands all over the screen (I brought out my hand sanitizer immediately-and sanitized my hands) -Even though the system asks for your name and what colour you are wearing the people who are pulling their shoes come out and says in a volume only mice and dogs can hear just the brand NIKE, ADDIDAS....not the type nothing-Ok 20 people are waiting and there are only so many large brands in the shoe department- why did you ask for my name and what I am wearing if your associates had no plans of using them? -Their associates are half DOA- granted I know getting shoes for people is not the highlight of your day-but come on...try a little...just a little. Last week, my husband and 12year old daughter went to the Dick Sporting good to return her 32-inch Easton Ghost Unlimited bat. They shortly returned home after they were informed that there is nothing that can be done. Long story short, daughter saved up her birthday money to buy this $400 bat in September and currently has no bat to play with for her middle school and travel team. On Sunday, I took the bat in with my husband and my daughter hoping to get an answer or a resolution to our problem. I explained to them the issue then a manager was called over to speak with us. Once again, they explained to us that there is nothing they can do. I asked for a copy of the receipts since everything is paperless now and our emails gets deleted to save space. They informed me once more that there is nothing, they can do but for us to take the loss. My husband left and returned to the car because he was frustrated with my inquires of questions for a resolution and receiving the same "NO". As I was asking for a number of some sort to call, I explained to them that I can get an exchanged from the manufacture if only I can get a copy of the receipt. At the point, the sales rep and the manager started to laugh and my 12-year proceeded to exit the building so she can cry in the car. I asked the manager, if why she taught it was funny and why she was laughing. Not everyone has an extra $400 to buy a new bat and definitely not a 12-year old. I told them that we have spent a lot of money between our two kids' for school, rec, and travel sports equipment's and gear and Christmas and birthday presents for family and friends from Dicks. I told them that I will not spend another dollar and are they ok with losing me as a customers and friends of mine. At this point, another manager came over. I explained to her the situation and told her, I am not asking for a new bat and but a copy of the receipts. Come on, its 2025 and technology is advanced!! I asked if I could get a contact number for the GM of Tacoma store location, and was informed that I could not get that and that is private information but will take my information down to give to this GM. Did not understand why since it would be a GM work email to handle guest service. Finally, the second manager told me that I can contact customer service, and they can provide me with a copy of the receipt and that she would be willing to contact them if I was willing to wait. I informed her that I would call them myself and left the store. I was able to get a copy of my receipt once I spoke with customer service but why did it take all this time and effort when they could of told us this from the beginning. (The phone number the manager wrote was missing a digit and I had to look online for the correct number). To date, my daughter still does not have a bat, the GM has not reached out to me even though I left my full name, phone number and email address. I would say you might be better off ordering your products through the manufactures or Amazon and will get better results, or better yet go to BIG 5 because I feel that Dicks does not care about the customers or maybe just us. They are ok with seeing a kid cry about spending every penny of money saved to buy this bat,or losing customers who just will not returned. Came in today with our granddaughter to buy soccer shoes, a ball and a kids soccer backpack with a place for ball & shoes. First of all, no one around to greet or ask for help, even though we saw employees milling around avoiding customers. The soccer area is very small compared to other sports ( mainly football, basketball, golf & baseball). When we finally found it upstairs & way in the back, no one ever came to ask if they could help us . We looked through the balls & did select one, even though they were overpriced. No one helped us with shoes and we could not find the soccer bag/ backpack we were searching for. We did finally ask an employee who seemed distracted and he said if we didn't see one they were probably down with regular backpacks! We knew that was incorrect and so left dejected with our over priced ball. Not a friendly check out either. Sad, because we were hoping to get our granddaughter ready for her first soccer season and hoped Dick's would be much better. read more

Order my daughter a pair of soccer cleats online & was sent the wrong size. We ordered a m4.5/w6; Dicks sent us a kids 4.5. No biggie. They reshipped another pair, with expedited shipping free of charge, only to have the wrong size sent AGAIN. Strike 2. So, yet again, I called and they said they'd expedite another pair. Two days later and no cleats. I called and they said, I was given the wrong info and another pair were never sent. Strike 3. At this point I just requested a refund, to which they just said, I needed to return the pairs of shoes to the store. Again, no big deal, expect the cashier at the Tacoma Mall location was SUPER RUDE, treated us like we were stupid saying Mens 4.5 and kids 4.5 are the same size! Um NO. Placed a store pick up order for 2 nike items each showing 3 in stock. 2 hours later received an email saying none of the items where in stock at Tacoma but I could pick them up at another store. I selected Puyallup store, showing 4 of each item in stock. Within 15 minutes I received a text message saying all or part of my order was canceled because it is out of stock in Puyallup. If I have to have my items shipped because you can't get your inventory updated or your team on board with what you advertise online "in store order pick up" I might as well shop somewhere else. Nike sells the same merch at the same price. There is no reason for you to be in business. read more

Overall Dick's is a store to avoid. Poor customer service, uninterested employees and overpriced shoes. I recommend almost any other stores for athletic shoes and attire. Also I must say, I feel intimidated by their security guard, he seems to be overzealous and looking for trouble. I just want good service, fair prices and to feel safe while I shop. Recently bought a squat rack for home use and due to the COVID-19 current state I picked this equipment up by curb side service. When i helped the individual load my truck he mentioned the condition of the box which had seen better days. As i went to construct the equipment the box was missing 6 essential pieces to finish the build. I spoke to customer service from the provider who offered an eight to 12 week lead time, but referred me to the store in which the manager would not take the call and told assured me once the COVID-19 virus has been taken care of and business goes back to usual state then they would be happy to assist me. I asked why they could charge my card, but couldn't return the funds and they referred me again to handling this situation once the store is back open to the public. It says on their web sight to have the store assemble their bikes or a "professional" put it together.. or you forfeit your right to return or warranty BUT they won't let me set it up over the phone. Was bothered that I pushed the help button. Couldn't answer any product questions. Didn't even offer to check around other locations. One of the best investments I've ever discover was bought from here, I've always thought that those slip on Nike scandals were the most hideous looking thing mainly because a lot of fuck boys wear it with those long knee socks and baggy basketball shorts to the gym. I recently got a pair so I don't have to properly put on a pair of sneakers and lace them up in the middle of the night when I have to let my doggy out to pee, it's so convenient to just slip on these pair of scandals when I'm half asleep! You can wear them with or without socks, they're only about $15, and are waterproof! This location is in Tacoma Mall, I believe you can access it from the outside or inside of the mall. So, during the stay home order because of Covid 19 I bought a mountain bike online. I actually bought three, 1 for my daughter, 1 for my wife, and 1 for myself. When I got the bike it made some clanking sounds, so I called the store and they said to bring it in and they would take a look at it. That evening they called me to say they had no idea what was wrong and they had to call the manufacturer to troubleshoot and it would take a couple weeks to have the parts sent. Did I miss something? If you don't know what the problem is, how do you know what parts you need to have sent? My question exactly... I asked them if they would just refund me so i could just buy a new bike, because I don't really want a bike that is brand new with these kinds of issues, I got every excuse why they could not do that at this time. So, I'm stuck with a bike I can't ride until the stay home order is lifted??? Glad you guys are doing such a great job. Maybe the people managing this store should read some of these reviews. Way to take care of your customers... I don't need to shop at this store. I ended up taking my bike to another store and had outstanding customer service. The store itself isn't bad. Good selection and lots of options, its the employees and customer service that is terrible. There is never anyone around when you need help, and when it comes to shoes (and getting you a size) they are rude, inattentive, and all around not helpful. I ended up going home and ordering online because I was tired of waiting and dealing with the employees. Actually, online I found even more options and saving some money because of online discounts. I received a holiday gift from Dicks that was too big. I did not have the receipt because the gift giver was on holiday. I went into the store with my gift in a bag and asked to exchange it. Because I did not have the proof of purchase the associate said I could not exchange it for the smaller size that I needed. She said it because I could have stolen the merchandise. I asked if a manager could help with the process and she said: "NO, it's a terrible policy, and even a manager would not be able to help, sorry". I have purchased many items at Dick's, I am an avid runner. I have never had to exchange a gift that someone has bought me. My fiancé and I went to Dick's yesterday (12/29/21) and the cashier (I believe his name was Michael [whom loves soccer]) was very kind amid a very busy shopping day. The gentleman who I would assume is his manager (I forget the name but he had long, extremely greasy [almost wet looking] hair) was rude and very short with not only Michael but my fiancé and myself whom were making a purchase in the amount of a few hundred dollars. We simply asked if they had handles or a bag big enough for a product we were buying and the gentleman was snarky and rude. He completely ruined our experience. Michael was kind and apologetic about the lack of a bag (which he understood was an inconvenience due to snow and ice outside). The greasy manager also was slamming our metal product all over and we were worried it would be dented (again, a few hundred bucks worth too). Easily the worst sporting goods retailer in Tacoma, if not the entire country! Terrible customer service, lousy and largely irrelevant selection, poorly organized merchandise, and price labeling that is inconsistent with it's corresponding merchandise. On my last point, the customer should be advised to expect an unpleasant surprise when ringing up their purchase at the counter. This happens just about every time I buy something there. During my last three visits the items I purchased ended up costing at least $20.00 more than the price marked the shelf. The only reason why I even bother shopping at the store is because of its convenient location and the fact that the Tacoma area is so difficult to maneuver through due to constantly heavy traffic. read more

My wife and I wanted to buy a couple of kayaks so I did a lot of research online (various vendors) and in person, including several trips to Dick's Sporting Goods in Tacoma. One of their managers (Frank) was super helpful in telling me about various kayaks that they sell. He told me they get a lot of new boats in mid-February that usually sell out within a couple of months. I decided that their "Lifetime Teton Angler 100" 10' kayaks would be good for us (both beginners), based on their design and on the price. When it was time to actually purchase the kayaks, Julio was really patient and helpful in finding the boats we were looking for (making sure we found the 10' boats, choosing the right color, unfolding the seats) as well as helping us to find the correct paddles. Dick's was also helpful by storing our kayaks about a week until I could install some "J" racks on the roof of my car and return to pick up the boats. Two women from the store even helped me lift the kayaks into the "J" racks. I had a terrific experience with Dick's; they have an excellent selection of products and without exception their staff is friendly and helpful. read more

NOT HANDICAP FRIENDLY. If you park and enter from the outside, the ramp is a mile away from the building. I'm on crutches and hopping up the stairs was easier. I came in to get a medicine ball to start physical therapy. I saw several employees and several saw me from a distance and scurried like roaches. I had to fine the section by myself on the second floor (selection isn't great btw), then find a backpack large enough to fit the ball, then put the bag on my back and carry downstairs. On crutches. I told the guy at the counter I wasn't buying the bag, I just needed it to carry the merchandise since there was no one available to help, and did he have a bag I could use. "I don't know how you'll manage to carry this out on crutches," he said. Dude, have you ever thought of helping someone? I feel so crotchety and old writing this review and I'm in my twenties, but JFC. You might as well just have robots and no people if you want your employees to be this unfeeling and unhelpful. No one asked me if I needed any help. I even got the feeling the staff were hiding to avoid working. I saw one employee practicing his golf swing. He looked right at me, then went back to swinging. I waited in line to check at for over 20 mins. There was a long line and two young people checking out customers. They were with the same customers the whole time. The young employees were struggling and kept looking around as if trying to get help from a manger or the sporting good gods, I'm not sure. When I finally got to the counter, the girl told me they had no more bags except for *blah blah didn't hear what she said* bags and if she could use those. Went to the Tacoma location because that's where I live and it's pretty new and I was looking to get something in particular that it said they had when I looked on their site. I went in the morning probably an hour or so after they opened. I searched for the item I was looking for for a while. With all the employees on the floor and not more then 4 customers inside nobody ever bothered to ask me if I need help finding something even though I was going back and fourth around the store literally passing the employees. Eventually I found what I was looking for with no help to anyone else. I decided to look around some more at their clothing options as I was considering getting a new sweatshirt or sweats. When looking around I was shocked by the quality of the items they had on display. Sweatshirts and sweaters had BIG holes in them (which were obviously not meant to be there.) There were shirts and sweats with clear as day stains on them (which were not supposed to be there of course.) I was appalled at the fact that they thought it was okay to stock their shelves and put ON DISPLAY items that were in bad condition. I bought the item I came for because it was in a bag sealed so I figured I should be ok and it wasn't an expensive item but I will defiantly NOT be coming back to that store again if they only sell damaged items. Like wtf? I can understand one item hidden in the back maybe they just didn't realize but MULTIPLE UPON MULTIPLE items with rips and stains and broken pieces? Get real.... read more

I ordered a xmas gift that promised by Xmas and if I hadn't checked I would have still been waiting. They never notified me it was not going to arrive. When I checked it said to be here 1/21/2021 I wouldn't have been so mad but I had to pay a 330.00 for shipping on top of the product being 100.00 more than every where else. 1269.00 and still not before Christmas. I ended up canceling and getting the product which were kayaks elsewhere for 804.00 including shipping and tax and they will be here on Jan 5 I have had bad service at the store in Tacoma mall many times before so needles to say I'm pretty much done with dicks. This location is larger and higher end than some of the others. There is a huge selection of clothing, and the shoe area is tidy and well organized. I like that the boxes are not kept on the sales floor. There are two stories, with the top being gear and the lower mostly shoes and clothing. When I came in, the store was neat and clean, and there were a lot of staff out helping people, even though it wasn't super busy. I wish the location closer to us was this nice! Their clothes are on the spendy side but it's mostly high end athletic apparel, so it's to be expected. read more

Just disappointing. 1. Poorly trained, non helpfull staff. Headed straight to the shoe department, couldn't get anyone to acknowledge us. When we finally got help, the kid got us a pair of cleats and then disapeared. Didnt stay with us to make sure it was a pair that worked for us, didnt check back in on us, nothing. Just wondered around facing inventory. There was other clerks there but they were also busy ignoring paying customers. Whatever, we finally got a pair of cleats that worked and continued shopping. Btw when a costumer asks a clerk were to find a section of your store, then it would be nice if they could offer to take you there not just point in a general direction. Finally after spending way too much time at the shoe department due to lack of help we move to finish shopping for other needed gear. We get it and go to check out. Checker was nice BUT she informed us she couldn't sell us the cleats. Whaaaat??? So apparently they couldn't sell us the cleats because they hadn't been officially released yet. Ok then why was the shoe on the floor in the show room? So here I am with $300 of gear on the counter not being able to buy the one thing we needed and orgianlly came for. Sorry no I can't wait for the release date we need them now. To be fair they did offer me 20% off on any other pair but the problem was that they didnt have any other cleat that was comparable to the ones we wanted to buy in my kids size. What irked me is that they didnt care. I'm trying to buy over 300 bucks worth of goods and they could had cared less. I took my money elsewhere. My advice is to buy your sporting goods at other places. 2. Yes it was frustrating for me, but as a manager dont berate your employees in front of your costumers.
