Came in to buy back to school backpacks for my kiddos. The store was clean, organized and stocked. The one star is all about our checkout experience / customer service. I checked out with two backpacks in which "Mia," "My passion is CHEER," is a bunch of bullshit. Let me tell you....Mia was just not having it tonight. She had her iPhone next to the scanner where you scan the clothes and she kept checking her TIK TOC, INSTA, FACEBOOK, OF...whatever it was she was waaaaaay into that than doing her dammm J O B. I asked if there was a military discount and she legit looked at me with deer in the headlight look..she asked in the most condescending way...."MMMMM UHHHHHHH DO Y O U HAVE A MILITARY ID?" Yes, I answered. She gave me the stupidest look and rolled her eyes.... No, I don't expect a praise or a Thank you for your service, it's a simple yes or no answer. Anyways, this girl was rude, condescending, and only interested in her phone / social media maybe dreaming of being on the beach with her BFF since that was the picture of her iPhone wallpaper. DISAPPOINTED AND FRUSTRATED. I went to Dick's to BUY hiking shoes. There were plenty of employees and I was acknowledged quickly. Told sales rep #1 I want hiking shoes, he got my size, and did an online search for what they had. I selected a shoe to try on. Sales rep #1 was wandering all over the department and helping other people so after several minutes I asked if he was getting the shoes. He indicated somebody was bringing them from the back. Another 10 minutes go by and sales rep #2 asks if I've been helped. Advised him on the status. He called sales rep #1 to check status. Sales rep #2 said they don't have the shoe. Sales rep #1 never once followed up with me after the initial contact. By this time I was so disappointed and frustrated with the terrible service that I left the store without new hiking shoes!! Over the years, I have had mixed results shopping at this Dick's location. I once bought a blow-up bed to use when company came. Because I stored it in my closet till I needed it, there was no warranty when the bed would not hold air at all. Bummer. A complete waste of money. I have also purchased some clothes at Dick's for the granddaughter. These are big-name sport lines, and they are fairly well made. No real complaints here. We also bought brand-name sport shoes for the granddaughter, and were not as satisfied with them. They never got comfortable for her. We buy miscellaneous sports stuff, too, like a pickle ball set, tennis rackets, tennis balls, bicycle, etc.; no problem with this type of thing, either. I will say, though, that if you're looking for a sturdy bike, you'd get a much better quality bike at a bike store. If I'm in the area, and I need the type of item that they carry, I will usually at least check to see if their products will fit the bill. read more

I am seriously unhappy with Dick's Sporting Goods and would strongly advise anyone considering purchasing something from their website to reconsider. On May 4th, I found an elliptical trainer that I wished to purchase on Dick's website. Knowing that exercise equipment is really popular given the coronavirus situation, I opened a chat with one of Dick's customer service reps, who assured me that the item was in stock. So I went ahead and purchased the elliptical. On May 5th, Dick's sent me an email saying, oh guess we didn't know what we're talking about - the item is out of stock. You will not be charged. All well and good. On May 15th, I logged into PayPal regarding another matter and noticed that there was still a pending authorization for the elliptical against my PayPal account. We're now ten days later, so I'm concerned. I inquired about the pending authorization to PayPal and they informed me that the merchant (Dick's) would have to cancel the authorization. So, once again, I contact Dick's customer support. Now, I understand people are working from home, so things aren't going to be as smooth as they might have been before this. But after over 50 minutes trying to get the Dick's rep to understand this was their problem, they hung up on me. Dick's kept blaming my bank. I contacted my bank and was informed that the transaction never reached them and Dick's would have to cancel the pending authorization. Now I tell Dick's that BOTH PayPal and my credit union are saying Dick's must cancel this authorization. What do I get back from Dick's: your bank has to cancel this. IT NEVER FREAKING REACHED MY BANK!! Anyway, this is not a small purchase; nearly $600. Given that Dick's can't figure out how to cancel an authorization, I have zero confidence that they won't somehow accidentally submit the authorization. I told Dick's that my next steps would be complaints, to PayPal, BBB, and anyone on social media. Their response so far: **crickets**. Be VERY cautious about ordering anything online from Dick's Sporting Goods. Their customer service is terrible, and apparently, their payment processing is equally suspect. Utter fail. read more

Dick's is an impressive place to wander around aimlessly, get lost amid treadmills, stumble through endless racks of work-out shorts, and, ultimately, kick back in a reclining camping chair on the second floor. Dick's Sporting Goods has pretty much anything an outdoor and fitness enthusiast could desire, from hiking boots to tennis rackets and from bullets to hammocks. While Dick's does seem to be a bit higher priced than most hole-in-the-wall places, it is a fun place to simply walk around and look at all the hanging kayaks. I mostly give props to Dick's because my hubby has been looking for bullets for the last 9 months or so, as they've all been bought up recently. Well, on a whim, he looked at Dick's and found some. Bass Pro, which always lures us in with its waterfalls and rock climbing, and Academy both have been clean out of bullets for quite a while. So, when it comes to bullets, Dick's delivers. Not literally, but you know what I mean. This location is enormous (2-stories) and everything was well organized. Oddly I was surprised that salespeople weren't coming by to check on me. When I asked for a military veteran's discount at the La Cantera store I was told they only offer the discount on Veterans Day! This location is huge- particularly the shoe section, which is what I went in for. Didn't find anything for me, but BF found an awesome pair of cross trainers that looked surprisingly colorful and on-point! I was a little surprised that this place was so expensive- guess I should expect that with all the brand names they carry, but I usually shop online and even the so-called sales prices I encountered here didn't seem like a bargain. Bought a brand new driver at this Dick's location and the very first time I took it out to the driving range the club face completely snapped off the shaft and flew 75 yards down range. Of course I wasn't going to go chase a broken club head down a driving range with golf balls flying all over the place, so i returned to Dicks with the club shaft and receipt and explained what happened. They refused to refund, exchange, issue store credit or even partial credit for their defective item. I was also told if I would've came back with the club head then they could've fixed it or issued a return or refund but it was my fault for not running down range to retrieve the club face. I was also told the quality of the club was just that bad, to which a logical person would think, "WHY WOULD YOU SELL THAT PIECE OF SHIT EQUIPMENT HERE THEN??" Dicks is trash. read more

I got my golf clubs grips replaced here and after standing at the desk for a few minutes while the employee was trying out some new clubs that just came in, the other employee looked right at me and then scooted in a little bit closer to the golf simulator acting like he didn't even see me. After that the employee who assisted me was super helpful and knowledgeable. Then when I was checking out, another employee who had assisted me or actually I assisted him in ringing me up, because he wasn't sure what was going on or if he was ringing me up correctly as the instructions were clearly printed on the grips receipt. After my third interaction with that same employee yesterday, at the same register, he was clueless as to who I was or where anything was and acted like we've never even spoken before. After observing what was going on around the store I noticed all of the employees doing other things, one guy was playing home run derby in the baseball batting cage simulator. I guess this is what's happens when there is a lack of management. Overall poor customer service. Im pumped on the new grips though. read more

After making a Christmas gift purchase we needed to make an exchange and didn't have the receipt. I called before we even went in to make sure we would be able to get another copy and I was told by the manager it could be pulled up with the card we used to make the purchase. Great, easy fix right? Wrong.. we have been waiting here for over a HOUR for a receipt... I spoke with the manager again about this and he could careless about our wait time. I was told the floor is busy and he's helping people with other problems that are coming up. Um?? Shouldn't you address problems in order? He then proceeded to laugh at say I'll start the process to find it in like 5 minutes. I didn't get the name of the manager that works here at the La Cantera location but he is very unprofessional and rude. Can we please let show some love on this particular location. I understand the 3 stars reviews since we all know that most probably there's 1 or 2 unmotivated employees working for the store. Everytime I come here, I can say 99% all great even on a weekend, that's my luck. Also, kudos to the Manager of the store for keeping this location very clean and organize, one of the reasons I enjoy shopping here. I've purchased numerous things there over the years, and I've always been happy with what I've bought. Coming from up north, I'm familiar with Dick's Sporting Goods versus the chains down here. They tend to offer a higher end product while offering a little bit less in the realm of variety. They're going to have a tough time with the entrenched competition (Academy, Bass Pro Shop) but I think they'll weather the storm. One thing that they definitely offer is great organization, versus the yard sale that is Academy. The reason I'm giving them three stars is because it's not always easy to find a cheap alternative to certain products (medicine balls come to mind) and in this realm, I think Academy fills the void a bit better. read more

I don't understand the marketing analysis for this place. It's built RIGHT NEXT DOOR to a Bass Pro Shop, which automatically blows Dick's away in camping, kayaking, hunting (guns/bows), fishing, and activewear. Dick's has a slight advantage in golf, soccer, racquetball, and workout-type clothing. But if you go about 3 miles away, you find an Academy which blows away the only advantages Bass Pro Shop gives to Dick's. I predict a year, maybe, before this place closes it's doors. I have had so many problems with this store in particular. Both my boyfriend and I bought bikes from this store and for both bikes they take forever to assemble. They say they'll call you when it's ready but 2 weeks go by and you are ending up calling them. My boyfriend recently broke the chain of his bike, since we have warranty on each bike I brought both in, one to fix and the other as a tune up. This was on September 18th. Called 3 different times after 2 weeks of waiting and each time they say the bike tech is on vacation or he won't be in until so many days. On October 5th I went in and demanded my bikes back fixed or not. The guy I spoke to was very nice, apologized over and over but he also mentioned that they have horrible service when it comes to the bike department. Never going back to this store. If the employees know that Dick's has horrible service and is unprofessional, there's something very wrong! 1. Either fire the bike tech because he doesn't do his job and takes WAY too many "vacation" days or 2. I've tried going to this store a few times over the last few years. Every time I find a product I am interested in, it is not priced. This time I went to buy some shoes. Almost every shoe on the shelf (not the wall) was not priced. I then went looking at camping, kayaking, shooting, and other gear. Aisle after aisle of unpriced items. The gun counter is a ghost town. I asked one of the young sales employees who happened to be chatting with another employee where I could find long socks. Rather than taking me to the location, he just pointed to the opposite side of the store and then continued his social conversation with his fellow employee. I found my way to the other side of the store and, realizing I was close, asked another employee where I might find girls long socks. This otherwise unengaged employee merely pointed three rows away and said I think they're on that row, and walked away. Unfortunately she was not correct, and the socks were on an adjoining row. I was able to find yet a third young sales employee doing nothing but social media on their smart phone and ask her where I might find children's swimming goggles. Much to my dismay, she also just pointed upstairs and said, I think they're in the corner. After ascending the escalators to where I thought I might find goggles, I was able to find two more sales employees having a pleasant conversation with each other. I asked them where I might find goggles, and, after giving me a dismissive look for interrupting pointed again across the floor. Good variety, HORRIBLE customer service. Although they do do appear to hire many people, just not train them how to be helpful. read more

She was very patient, fixed everything I needed & even inspected more than necessary to make sure I was safe. Not only did she find & fix issues that could have been a major problem in the near future but she also showed me what she was doing and case it happened again. The golf services section of this store is one of the best. My dad wanted to get a boxed golf set and Ramiro helped us out. He was one of the best golf sales people we have come across so far. He simulated my dads shots and helped make a decision on the flex and whether he should get graphite or steel. Horrible, horrible, horrible. I went to the store at The Rim on May 9, 2016. I spent over $2,000.00 on an item that was to be delivered within 5 to 10 business days. On May 27, 2016 after having not heard from anyone I contacted Dick's only to be told in a cheerful voice that it had not arrived yet. Today is June 7, 2016. Still no call, no word, nothing. If you treat a customer that has spent a lot of money with you how do you treat a customer that spends less? Stay away from this store. If I could rate this store zero stars I would.
