One of them is an 8 year old boy that his uncle tells me suffers from Meyers-Briggs syndrome. He's a huge sports fan so I decided to pick him up some sporting goods. At mile post 100, ready for a break from the road I fired up the old google map in search of a sporting goods store, and Suri dutifully revealed to me this Dick's Sporting Goods in Sandusky, OH. It's a great store. Huge, well lit, very few dark corners. They have everything from athletic wear to Zamboni parts. The staff was almost creepily helpful. After checking out their skate gear, lacrosse sticks, bodybuilding equipment and sundry other offerings, I settled on a full set of football gear. The boy's uncle had told me that he really wanted to play pee-wee football but was not allowed because one of the major side effects of Meyers-Briggs syndrome is excessive crying. But there's no reason he can't dress up like his heroes of the gridiron! I picked him up a Riddell helmet, Cleveland Browns jersey, pads, pants, and a tiny little jock strap all for less than $200! On the way out I grabbed myself a new set of Adidas shower shoes, some Quench gum, and I was on my way. I'll be sure to check out Dick's in my hometown, but it's unlikely I'll have cause to revisit Dick's in Sandusky.

The merch is well organized and there's a large variety. The store sells exercise equipment, clothing and shoes, plus lots of gear for any sport or regime. I like the sales they have on thick socks in the winter as they have really good socks. I do wish they had more cotton clothing though, I don't like exercising in polyester ick. You can absorb microplastic that way even. The lack of sustainable and healthier clothing made me remove a star. Overall it's a very nice store with great parking and right by the food court.

Not sure I understand what the re-opening was for the store was over the top on staff, sound - so freaking LOUD and everything was over the top visually. It was gross. When I asked a staff member where they kept their women's Bombas socks - preferably the three package ones - I literally, was given the run around. We paced around the stop needlessly as it was clear she didn't know where to send me after reaching out to a colleague on her phone system. WEIRD. When I finally found myself around the shoe area looking for the Bombas, I had some glimmer of hope when a sales guy approached me asking if I was the one seeking Bombas and he got me to what I wanted. Not sure why this store (as well as others) spread out the Bombas pickings why not keep them in one spot but it is what it is. I miss the old Polaris store. This new Dick's House of Sport is just too weird. Yes, I'm an athlete and appreciate helping community members and putting forth a new in-store experience I suppose I was looking for something different. Decent back up store to my Easton if anything is needed just be aware of the new layout and experience. Just ok.

Today I was looking for a mess kit for camping. They have vast areas devoted to clothing, a whole wall of hundreds of Stanleys, 14 different dog bowls, and zero mess kits. Two little aisles of camping gear, and that's it. Their grilling section is four times as big as the camping section. I guess that's what people wanna buy, but if you are looking for outdoor supplies, this is not the place to come.

In the shoe department there were three associates kicking it and not approaching anyone for help so took a star down. Once my husband approached them, only then did we get what we needed. Weird. The checkout was awesome great staff who welcomed us with a smile and was super efficient and smooth with our transaction. During the COVID years, DSG kept it legit and professional with car deliveries. When I do stop for golf gear, I'm always approached in that department offering help so that makes me happy. Overall, I do love this store experience overall. Admittedly, I did try the new Polaris location the weekend of their re-opening Aug 15-17 and what a nightmare. Too loud and too big for my taste. Keep me going back to Easton as the people are great and Easton keeps it easy.

buckle your seat belt…read more I brought my 7 year old son into the store to buy a baseball bat. They have a cage for you to try out the bats. My son fell in love with one of them. The employee near by said that she could offer me the bat at a discount since there were no others available in the store. She asked her manager. This manager, Brandon, had zero customer service skills. He never said hello to me, didn't make eye contact. He said, "nope you can't buy that because it's probably available online" If this is Dick's policy, okay. It's a stupid one. I may have said, barely above a whisper, "that's bulls**t and you know it." Then he stepped up to my face and began berating me about my parenting skills. What?!? We then went to a nearby dick's and they at least 20 of that bat. (Would have been nice to be told this by instead of "it's probably online") ive worked retail - when you are out of inventory, you can buy the floor model. Further, they had at least 50 youth bats n the cage (all with prices, barcodes, etc) and, get this, 4 youth bats in stock. The policy aside, the rudeness was completely unacceptable. (Btw - here is a picture of the number of bats, same type, at a store 2 miles away.

Three things stand out to me about this Dick's store location…read more 1. It is busy all the time. Any day of the week. Any time of day. 2. It is very clean and merchandise is always nicely arranged. 3. Online order pickup is great. They always have your order ready on time and you never have to wait long at the pick up desk. Considering how busy they are (see #1), I am always pleasantly surprised by this.

This store didn't have what I was looking for but had a nice selection of shoes and just about anything sports related you would need. Easton is the largest store and has a better selection but this location didn't disappoint. The staff I interacted with were great as well.

He was genuine and very kind and took me to the shoes I was looking at and looking at. Now these shoes were amazing. They fit nicely and felt wonderful on the bottom of my feet. When I went to check out, the lady up front was very sweet and kind as well. My when I tell you this place didn't have amazing people already, the next one come out and talking about this Einstein bagel that had something to do with a hash brown, she was very kind too. I'd definitely come back and recommend everyone today that helped me out. Thank you once again!
