My son and I went to get a glove steamed and broken in. When we first entered the store we spoke with the cashier and let them know we brought in a glove from outside for service. We go upstairs to purchase said service and we were immediately bum rushed out of nowhere and nearly had the glove ripped out of my hands by an older employee, mind you he never introduced himself or ask if we needed help. We walk to the register and we are "met" by MOD Thea. She was very unprofessional about the service we were there to have done. This was the second $400 glove I've brought here to have work done and I never will again bc of this interaction. The interaction with staff was so unwarranted that my 10 year old son who was with me mentioned that he got startled when they ripped the glove from me. Do better Dicks... We went in looking for a pair of shoes around 7:00. The employees were in the back the whole time. It took us 45 minutes to try on 3 pair of shoes because we were constantly waiting for them to come out of their hiding area. The two young girls at the front couldn't answer any questions regarding the equipment in their department. There are plenty of other sport stores in the area to have bad customer service. Dick's Sporting Good has the worst customer service I've ever seen. This was my second Dick's Sportin Good that I had gone to for the same thing. Several employees in the store, but I think their phones and other projects were more important. Checkout was even worse. We stood in line so long that everyone in line walked away. I went upstairs to check out because I had to purchase the shoes due to the doctors order. I gave you one star because of the cashier, I told him that I had the worst experience, and he apologized and made me feel important. TERRIBLE costumer service went to the shoe section, RUDE. Went to go check out and these two ladies were bad mouthing about me bc I didn't say hi back to one of them ( I did say hi back but she didn't hear me) & while I was checking out she told the other girl "I know she heard me" and the other one was just laughing right in my face. Literally one of the slowest dick's I've ever been to. 6 registers but always only have 1-2 people at the register while everyone else roams around the store. The check out process is ridiculously slow.... usually do to them sparking conversations with their guest. I understand trying to build customer service but when it's 8 people waiting please hurry it up! They talk slow, they scan slow, they bag the items slow, they count your change back to you slow. Due to the size, the number of products and the number of employees I believe it is difficult to thoroughly review a place like dicks. However I have nothing but praises for the folks on the second floor who support the archery, golf and fishing section. They are knowledgeable helpful and very friendly people. I was surprised that they had so many people even knowledgeable about archery. It is not something you would not find in a lot of sporting goods stores. read more

Just picked up a bike after a few visits. Thanks to Mr Richard, we FINALLY went home with a bike. They are top notch. He went through & inspected, adjusted & fit the bike thoroughly. I generally find the products at Dick's Sporting Goods to be more expensive than their competitor Academy. However, they do have a few items that Academy does not carry and vice versa. I'm glad to have the option of both but I do prefer Academy as they have lower prices. That said, this location is convenient to where I live. Like Academy, finding people to assist on the sales floor can be difficult as most employees appear to be stationed at the checkout counters. I will say that the quality of products that Dick's carries is top notch which might account for the slightly higher prices. The store always seems to be in good shape as it is clean and well lit. This is not my go to for sporting goods and apparel but provides a good backup. read more

This is the ONLY Dicks that I have felt ashamed of after leaving. People , just so you know NOT everyone who has a brown shade to their skin with tattoos is a THIEF! (Not that I think anyone is) but this is what I was made to feel like when shopping with my SIX year old daughter . At one point I turned a corner to ho look at the NIKE leggings, ( because you know, they are great) and and older woman came rushing over to make sure I hadn't left ( I heard them speaking on the radio ) not now nor have I ever stolen items . I struggle even giving a star. I purchased a product on line as a gift during a flash sale. They had a delivery date of well before the holidays. A couple of days later, they send an email that states due to the success of the sale they can not guarantee that I will get it on time and to wait for a email. 4 days later and no word, so I finally contact support and they have no update. Of course I cancel and now I am left scrambling to buy a similar product. Not likely going to go there again as most of what they offer I can get from other places at similar prices read more

Dicks has a good wide variety of clothes but they don't have much when it comes to baseball or fishing. You can never find baseball pants the right size there. Other then that they have really good service and are pretty helpful. read more

I love the people that work there. The glove guy, Eric, is fantastic. However, the selection for softball players is nothing short of pathetic. With so many select teams in the area, you'd think Dick's would give them a reason to shop there. The softball section is MAYBE 1/4 of the size of the baseball section...if that. We always come with high hopes to be let down...even though many other softball parents have quit trying. Idk what Dick's management has against softball players, but it's definitely costing them business. What a shame! I went to Academy and found what we needed. Usually we have to drive all the way out to Barcelona or Budget. read more

Lifetime Elite 54" Glass In-Ground Basketball Hoop I received no refund/compensation or even a reply to my last message below to Dick's Sporting Goods and their installer Select Express: Basketball hoop project is finally complete as of 2/11/17 and I want to thank the second set of installers for their professional manner in handling this task. They had to remove the incorrect installation of post and concrete from first attempt in middle of January 2017. I also want to thank Joe Stephens from Dick's Sporting Goods in Humble, TX for helping in getting this matter resolved. This coordination was conducted by me through time consuming phone calls, e-mails and being onsite for installers. The process ran from middle of December 2016 to middle of February 2017 for completion which is totally unacceptable. Basketball season was almost over and no one could train on the court due to NO HOOP. That being said, unfortunately the outcome was not a complete success. The goal only measured 9'7" from rim to playing field instead of regulation 10', no rebar was used inside post to help stabilize it and backboard/pole sways slightly from impact of basketball. One thing I did discover the following day, the goal was not remaining at maximum height. After several attempts and finally shaking the handle violently, the goal remained at top height. It would appear a small pin in the bottom of gas shock has to engage allowing it not to slowly come back down. (Owner's Manual Statement) To Adjust the Height of the Hoop: Hold the Handle tightly to engage the Gas Spring. Raise the Handle to lower the Backboard, or lower the Handle to raise the Backboard. I found these two comments on Dicks Sporting Goods website in review section: "Make sure you don't over tighten the piston that regulates the height. If it gets over tighten it will stick and not stay at 10'. This is a bit tricky but your handle for the adjustment should have some play in it if done correct." "The piston that regulates height doesn't work properly. It isn't strong enough to keep the hoop at 10'. I tried everything, called the customer service number, left message, no reply. So I went back to Dick's, and looked at their model to see if I'd made a mistake. No mistakes, and get this, their model won't stay at 10' either!!" read more

My husband and I came to see what the store is about, right off the bat an employee started in with how we needed to sign up for a rewards card. We had not even purchased and thing yet, heck we just walked in to the store. Once we found something to buy we got to the register paid cash the young employee hit a wrong button and then he could not figure out how to add or subtract to give us our .17 cents back. He had to call a manager that was busy so we told him to keep the .17 cents and walked out. read more

Advice for folks looking for a basketball goal - find a local installer rather than the 'service' that Dick's offers. Had multiple issues with an in-ground basketball goal and installation that I purchased. I purposely went into the store three weeks before I needed the system 'playable'. Not in stock so had to order from UPS. Dick's did not inform them adequately of delivery issues so had a problem there but the worst was in dealing with "Service Express" - the $400 "Dick's Recommended" option. Unknown to the public until 'issues' arise, these folks are not even in Texas - they are based in New York and attempt to deal with local contractors to do the work. Totally unreliable. Multiple 'promises' of 'we'll be there by 'X' day ....wait all day, no one shows, call again, re-schedule....etc, etc, etc. - four times. When I finally threatened to cancel the entire order and demand a refund a team 'magically' called within 15 minutes saying they'd be there in half and hour .....local installers were good people ....would have been much better (and cheaper) to deal with them directly. Don't go with Dick's. Complaints to local Dick's management got a small degree of sympathy and an apology but nothing beyond that. A headache! read more
