Shout out to Greg in the shoe department- he was extremely helpful about locating wide mens tennis shoes. Unfortunately, he was working within the constraints of only having FOUR pairs of actual tennis shoes (as in, not cross trainers, for example, shoes specifically for tennis) in the entire store, none of which were in stock in wide sizes. He double-checked store stock and checked to see if he could order them in store and ship to our home for free before suggesting other stores (and even mentioned which ones offer price matching!) when he was unable to find what we needed here. Talk about above and beyond! Unfortunately, deduction in stars for the company-specific reasons that made Greg unable to help us find the right pair. He was great though. read more

I was in the market for some new tennis shoes. My podiatrist suggested Brooks for better support. Luckily Dicks carried that brand with a huge assortment for me. The gentlemen helping us out was very courteous and quick about finding what we needed. I would definitely come back to their shoe department. Upon checking out, the girl automatically assumed I wanted to sign up for their card. She proceeded to ask me for my info in which I told her I didn't want to sign up. She kept typing info into the computer and signed us up anyway. I guess she doesn't take no for an answer. My star rating would've been higher if it wasn't for her. Too pushy for my taste. Very LIMITED selection on snorkeling items but GREAT customer service. They do have a lot of items, but water sports is not one of the areas this store gets a lot of business in. This was also confirmed by one of the employees, they carry a limited supply. It is still a good place and they are opening one up in the Fashion show mall, so it will be interesting to see what they will specialize in there. This place is trash. In a time where internet shopping is putting people out of business and the only thing that can separate that which is customer service and Dicks, you have none. With a cart full of football gear for my three sons and prepared to spend well over $1000, was told by an associate to calm down because they were excited about their new football gear. So we did calm down and we put every item down and left promptly. So now we will go online and purchase the items we need from Amazon. So anyone reading this, do yourself a favor and size up your kids at Dicks and order on Amazon because they clearly don't need the business. read more

Many shelf marker pricing was missing but not on the cheap priced stuff, just on the better stuff. Two items were twice the price as the labeled product beside it. I left those at the cashier when I had them price checked. Now Dicks has to pay someone to restock those items back onto the unmarked shelf. I feel it was deception by omission. At Dicks make sure you price check everything or else high priced products can sneak by the way they want. read more

Went to Dicks to look for a wiget to attach the GoPro fences to video softball games. "Tim" at the Henderson Dicks store would not even let my wife finish asking for what we were looking for when "Tim" says no we have nothing like that. He heard GoPro and interuped her speaking. We asked if they sell the Game Changer bundle being Las Vegas you would think they would be on top of things but NO "Tim" says they do not sell Game Changer anything not even on line. Well the only place that I see you can buy the Game Changer bundle is through Dicks. I guess I will not be buying it or anything ever again from Dicks. We have bought 7 softball bats through Dicks which was a lump of money but do to Tim we will not buy anything there ever again. #Game Changer please sell your product elsewhere. read more

Huge two floor store at the end of the Galleria Mall equipped with just about everything you need for your physical activities- clothing for adults & children (all in one section) by Adidas, Nike, Reebok, The North Face, etc.- whether it be for the snow, pool, yoga, running, or the gym, shoes, camping/hunting gear, fitness equipment like treadmills, bikes, etc., and recreational tables like ping pong, you are bound to find it here. (I also went here in the summer time and the swimming accessories (training paddles) were a tad on the sparse side, though. But I am guessing that since it's a seasonal item, it's bound to happen.) The regular price on clothing is a little high, but one expects that since this is a specialty store. However, there were numerous clothing racks sprinkled around with clearance prices- some were still a bit high, but others were reasonable (ie. women's adidas pants for $13.97). Non-clearance sale item signs were clear- accompanying the items (ie. women's reebok active fleece @ $25).The dressing rooms (2) blended into the clothing sections (grey painted doors) BTW. When we went there a few nights ago, there was a lot of cleaning (vacuuming) so I know that it's maintained. Most of the sections that I looked at, seemed to be in an arranged order. There were many employees on the floor to assist you. We asked where the recreational section was- (downstairs across from spring/summer active wear- winter wear is upstairs). It seems like this type of store is slowly becoming a dying breed (The Sports Authority on Sahara/Decatur closed some years ago) as some Wal-Mart and Target stores have a steady inventory of fitness related items (but then again, nothing like what Dick's Sporting Goods has- possibly the largest sports store here, surpassing Big 5, which doesn't have everything BTW). If we're on this side of town (Henderson) at this mall, we'll stop by. It's always nice to browse, especially a huge store like this. read more

I have been running around all over town trying to find somewhere that carries what I needed in a certain size. After four different stores and 3.5 hours later I had the best experience at this Dick's Sporting Goods location. My 2.5 year old daughter is starting soccer tomorrow so it has been nearly impossible to find soccer gear that will fit someone in a size 2T. But sure enough, DSG was able to help me with this. Thank you to Geo the sales rep and the cashiers who were so kind in helping me find exactly what I needed for my little one to start her first ever team sport tomorrow! She is obsessed with her new pink cleats, soccer ball, and shin guards. Plus it was all on a great sale because it is the DSG brand! After futile attempts of searching for a Saucony's Kinvara 3 shoes at Champs, Foot Locker and Finish Line, about to give up, I pointed to Dick's Sporting Goods and said to my bf, "Let's check out Dick's." So glad I did because voila, they have the Kinvara 3 that I have been searching for. There were not many color selection, but based on the online search, Saucony's are not known for their good color profile. I decided on the bubble gum pink and made the purchase. The attendants were very helpful in helping me chose the right size for me. I don't even recall any of the staff over at Champs, Foot Locker, or Finish Line asking me if I need help. They also have a rewards program where signing up for that scorecard is free, and for every 300 pts earned (one point is earned for every dollar spent), members get $10 reward. read more

They fail to inform you that if you use your debit card or a credit card that you will not be refunded for 14 business days. I purchased in the beginning of February. I returned on February 9 and still waiting for my $75 refund. They are full of crap, and I will never purchase anything from this company ever again. Worst experience ever! I ordered for curbside pickup, and when I got to the store they made me wait for over an hour. When I got back and asked where my order was, they made me wait for an additional 30 minutes only to cancel my order while I was complaining. They then told me it was out of stock when there were four right there on the shelf. I then had to rebuy my item and got charged twice. And to top it off, the cashier couldn't explain what was happening, using a rude attitude rather than explaining calmly. read more

Extremely Poor customer service! I went in yesterday to inquire if Dick's Sporting Goods carry 'zipper pulls.' The young lady I spoke with thought they were with Camping supplies; However, was not sure so inquired on her radio; The reply came back 'Hell if I know!'....not---I'm not sure...let me find out.....The next inquiry was to a front line 'Supervisor' ....who also replied....'not sure if we carry this product.' with no attempt to find out for sure; When I asked if anyone could find out for sure either way?.....the response finally came back that this product is with the Camping supplies upstairs. When I went upstairs to inquire; the young man behind the counter by the guns replied, 'Oh! I couldn't understand what they were saying over the radio....I thought they said 'Stripper Poles!" My response was 'REALLY!?' How idiotic is that?! Rather than clarify the request from the get-go. He decides to direct me upstairs for something this young man clearly knew Dick's Sporting Goods does not carry! When I clarified my request, he then says...oh no, we do not carry zipper pulls...try Michaels, Joann's, etc...I was very frustrated at this point due to the extreme incompetence of the sales staff and informed this young man that 'The customer service here sucks!' With the exception of the young lady who I initially spoke with; I find the behavior of the staff including a 'supervisor' extremely unprofessional, inconsiderate and ludicrous on so many levels! Been here several times, tents camping equipment and some shoes generally. Today I stopped to get a rowing machine. The store is huge, well stocked and well organized. All the staff I had interactions with were friendly, helpful and nice. Being a big purchase, they helped load it in my Jeep. I was in the market for a kayak. After being transferred several times and on the phone for over 30 minutes, I was told the specific kayak was available and to visit the store. After driving 30 miles to the store right away, I was informed by the sales person the item was never available. No one at the store would admit to giving me the false and misleading information. Recently moving to Las Vegas, my husband and I needed new bikes. Up until now we hadn't spent much time in Dicks at all and decided to give them a try. Let's just say, Gary in the bike department is a gem at this store and is the sole reason we would return for anything else! When walking into the bike department there was a younger man who saw us coming and immediately turned his back on us. It didn't stop us from looking at the bikes...when we found some we were interested in, I went to this individual and asked him a question. He did answer the question but abruptly walked away from us to help another couple! Although it may have seemed bad customer service at the time, it was a BLESSING to us...because Gary walks up to see if we needed help! He was so personable and pleasant to talk with (maturity!!!). He took time to get the bike in the right size for me and let me get on to see if it was a good fit! So my husband grabbed the Large version (he thought it was...without trying it out!) and off we go! Unfortunately, when we got it home and took it for a test run...hubby couldn't get out of the driveway because the bike was way to big for him. I quickly called Dicks and asked for Gary. When I explained the bike was too large and my hubby probably needed a medium, his response was..."let me check if I have one in stock". Of course he did and off to the store we went! Let's just say it was my hubby's fault he didn't try the bike before we left the store the first time. This time, Gary had him try the bike and suggested he get a large rather than the medium we thought he needed which was perfect! My husband in his haste to get a bike had selected an Extra Large Bike! Gary's patience with us made all the difference in the world! Through all this, it was apparent he was really busy, but I can honestly say this was Customer service at it's finest! Thank you so much Gary! Staff clearly has an attitude problem! Of course I expect things to be hectic with a VGK meet and greet but it's how unorganized stores are that make problems. Two kids at the bottom of the escalator " trying" to guide people saying if you don't have a wristband you can't go upstairs, I asked why they wouldn't have a sign saying that, the girl said we do at the front. 1 the line was moving so quick no one saw it. 2 why isn't the sign next to you if that is the case. I processed to turn around and tell everyone out loud sense they were waiting for people to get to the front to say anything. The girl ( staff ) standing there asked " what the F was wrong with me" and I said telling everyone for you. The guy ( staff ) standing there with a pony tail then proceeded to get in my boyfriends face saying to control me. Wow that's how you guys treat customers as I did also buy stuff to have signed as that was another thing that was said, if you buy stuff you can have it signed that these two kids denied. From the time I called the store to purchase my PowerBlocks , to them moment I came through the store doors, through the checkout experience and then to my car, where I was assisted was "on point" at every step. Most notably was Richard, who answered the phone and went out of his way to ensure that the very product I wanted was in stock and ready for pick up-like clockwork. This store truly has excellent customer service and for me, that is just as important as the quality of what I am purchasing as well as the price point. This store simply ROCKS and I highly recommend you visit them soon. Dick's has the best selection of sports equipment in town! It's large, impersonal, and often overwhelming, however, their prices and selection are hard to beat. Lately I've been shopping for cute golf clothes for women. They had by far the best selection and crazy amazing prices (most items were $20-$30 compared to the $50-$60 nearly everywhere else!). If you're willing to trade customer service for selection, Dick's is a worthy stop when shopping for sporting goods. read more

A little bit hard to find with an address on Sunset, because its actually located at the Northeast corner of Galleria Mall. Better to take Galleria Drive exit off the 95. Went here to pick up a rangefinder because they had hunting ones in stock for much cheaper than the golf ones everywhere else. They were also having a clearance sale so I found a nice summer shirt by Columbia for $9! Overall, prices are kind of high. They were selling one of last year's golf drivers for $339 where as you can find this same club virtually anywhere for $249 or less. Pretty much everything I compared was on the high side, including clothing like Nike golf shirts. Good part though....with my $9 clearance shirt and my rangefinder I went to the register and the nice cashier signed me up for their "club" and I got another $20 off the rangefinder price. Sweet!! They do have some bonus items that places like Sports Authority and Sports Chalet don't have. I think Sports Chalet is still my favorite overall place to go for gear. read more

Good selection of kayaks, but very elusive sales staff.

We have a ton of sporting goods stores here in LV and you can go from the bottom of the barrel Best Buy or Sports Authority to Sports Chalet to Dick's which I consider to be at the top end of the scale. a. Service - Service is the main reason why they are top notch. Here you have plenty of staff that are eager to help you. While they all may not be experts and they are not, they always will point you to someone who is an expert. Only REI in my opinion has better service. b. Selection - You can find a wide variety of many products here. Golf shoes alone they must have over 30 quality choices. From camping, to sports, to golf and tennis, this place has everything you need! If you cannot find it here, I am not sure where you would go. c. Price - They seem to always have sales, however, I have not really compared price to price. Why? Because generally I am not finding what I want at the other low end places and so price does not become as much an issue. When I do compare it to the "outlet" pricing, I find it to be comparable or not an issue! GK says for quality valued products with exceptional service, this is the place to go! read more

One of my favorite sporting goods store is Dick's Sporting Goods. Not many in California and not many here in Las Vegas. So, I'm finding myself driving a ways just to get to one. You can compare a Dick's to Sports Authority, but I tend to find what I'm looking for here. Usually come here for Under Armour and Nike clothing for my workouts. It's ironic that I can usually find what I'm looking for here over the actual Nike and Under Armour Stores. Plus, this location is a pretty big size with two levels. My only issue is their customer service. My first 3 times I've been here, I received zero customer service. Seems like I always have to reach out to an employee even though there's plenty standing around just talking to each other. I know what I want when I go to a sporting goods store, but when I need to try something on I need someone to unlock the dressing rooms. Would be nice for once if I didn't have to go all the way to the front and always ask for someone. So on my last visit I didn't expect customer service to be any better. In fact, I asked someone to unlock the dressing rooms before I even started my shopping because I knew what I would have to go through. Bought a couple of white workout tanks on my last visit and the cashier made a comment that I am buying "wife beaters". Seriously, people still talk that way? Kind of a sterotype in my opinion. I give this place 4 stars for selection and 2 stars for service. Overall rating is a 3, especially since I know I will be back to eventually buy something. read more

I went to Dick's twice in two days and experienced the same bad customer service both times. First, not to be a prude but the sales people are obese. Not overweight mind you, but obese and this is a SPORTING GOODS STORE! Once again, not to be a prude but I think it's way more advantageous in a store like this that the sales people play the part, you know what I mean? Anyway, the worst part of my visit was they kept on locking me out of the dressing room. The last time was the final straw, I just walked out of the dressing room and I was going to try on a couple of more items when I actually saw the sales person go to the dressing room, check inside and then lock the door. This was right after I left and I know she saw me come out, my point to all of this is that they don't ask if you need any help(which is okay by me) but to just stomp over and lock you out of the dressing room is just bad customer service. I'm sure there's a reason, it does look like they might be understaffed but none of this is the customer's fault. On a positive note the store is huge and they have a decent selection with some items reasonably priced and a few items way overpriced. Just by having the variety alone makes me give them two stars. Alas, I found a place to by my ammo after two failed attempts. Once at Walmart and once at Sport Chalet. Dick's is a big store with a lot of stuff. It reminds me of Bass Pro Shop in a way. But it fails where Bass Pro excells. I waited at the counter in the guns and ammo area. Their ammo is not in the open as it is at Bass Pro. I had to wait for an employee to come over. When he did, I asked for a box of .38 Special ammo from Remington. He pointed to a rifle and asked if that is what I was talking about. I don't know if he simply misunderstood me or if Dick's staff is uneducated about the products they sell. Either way it was frustrating. At least I got my ammo. It's just too bad that it took me so long I missed my opportunity to shoot. read more

I was browsing online and found deals on some lawn game items. I decided to place an order and the one BS racket is their site claims "free" shipping at $49 but there was a "cap" on it. Basically I was gonna be paying shipping and handling anyways on several items that were not big at all and it was silly to be paying for $20 on items that I can grab locally Pickup at a store is free and all the items were available at this location so I paid online and got a invoice the next day that it was ready. They scanned my online receipt in the front at a kiosk and someone went to the back to retrieve my items. I was able to buy a bocce ball set, badminton rackets, packages of birdies, a kickball. Easy peasy. I browsed around a bit after that to look at in person items I debated on purchasing online. I did get asked if I needed help as a associate passed us. I'm really not sporty or outdoorsy so I am one of the last people who step into sporting goods. I'm not the best judge on comparing this to other sporting stores- however, I find the layout pleasant, the store neat and the sales associate as friendly and helpful though there were very few of them in such a big store. I bought a bike here a few years back and joined the Dick's rewards program while also gaining a credit card (bad news ha!) Now I am always in there for the sales and even not the sales but the 'it looks like i need some new gym clothes' feeling that comes over me. I like Dick's Sporting Goods over a lot of other sports stores in Las Vegas. I think we all know retail stores don't do a good job at keeping up with what you can get online. However, there are those times you just have to go retail. You have no other choice. So, when I realized I needed a new sleeping bag ASAP I headed to Dick's. Lucky me, oh lucky day. The day I went they were having a sale on camping goods AND sleeping bags. I ended up purchasing a sleeping bag that can take 20 degree temps for only about $50. Now, if you're not into camping, you may not know this, but sleeping bags that will keep you warm the colder it gets means the price gets higher the colder the bag can withstand. Being that this was a 20 degree bag (mummy style), and it came with a great carrying case with a handle, I'd say I made a damn good deal that day. The great thing about Dick's is location as well. It is connected to the Galleria Mall. Also, they offer an extensive line of products for numerous activities. Camping, fishing, running, shooting, exercising, kayaking, and they have a large selection of exercise and outdoor wear. I think Dick's beats out quite a few stores (except maybe REI) in the clothing section. The cashier who checked me out was also super friendly as well. I have been researching a heart rate monitor online but wanted to see it in person and saw they Dick's carried it for $20 more then what I have seen online. It did allow me to decided this was the model I wanted but didn't walk home with it today because as I said befoe it was more expensive here. While here I also looked at the kayaks but since I'm still not sure if I want an ocean or river kayak again didn't purchase one but they did have many different brands of kayaks with different options to choose from. read more

I ended up making two pretty descent purchases, both within a week of each other in the bike dept. I worked with 2 different associates during each visit and I have to give them each kudos for both being so knowledgable, caring and personable. Sadly, those qualities are uncommon in retail where it commonly seems manners have been replaced by bare minimum effort. Well, not here... Both visits were great and left me impressed, especially considering one of my visits was shortly before closing time. No attitudes or sense of urgency to push guests out the door.
