Went into the store with my son and asked for a lot of basic advice on what the minimum setup was to have success since we are limited on what gear we can bring. The staff was really helpful going over basic lures and how they are supposed to be rigged with some examples from behind the counter. I did not get the impression they were trying to oversell or sell stuff we did not need. If they were not sure about an answer (for example the first guy we talked with was more familiar with salt vs. freshwater fishing) he did not try to fake an answer and directed me to other staff who were more knowledgable. So if you are beginning or a novice this tackle shop is a good stop to get you setup vs. buying random stuff off amazon. I'll be recommending the place to the rest of my 6 man crew as well as other crews from my troop that will be going to Northern tier later in the year. My one piece of advice for the staff is to be more proactive in engaging customers to see if they have questions. I know it can be a balance between giving customer space and hovering over them like a car salesman but in general us beginner / novice fisherman can get easily overwhelmed with the different assortments of tackle and appreciate the advice. If you are a customer note the store vibe is more on the side of letting you browse freely and engaging only if you ask for help.

He eventually got rid of the prospect and I proceeded to tell him I didn't want or need his help and to help the man he ignored. Instead he called up the next person in queue. Ironically enough, an employee was going off on a phone or radio about giving the best customer satisfaction possible lol. I almost said something to him but he was so hyped and happy, unlike mr grumps at the gun counter. Aside from that and what drove me away from purchasing a new firearm that day, the guys working Ammo and the fishing department were amazing. They really showed their knowledge and were a pleasure to work with. I will be back because of them, but maybe sticking to rifle supply for gun purchases.

My recent experience with a female employee during an item return was extremely disappointing and has raised serious concerns about the store's adherence to company policies and customer service standards. On July 7, 2024, I purchased an item from your store. Upon opening it, I found that the sizing was too small, and I decided to return it for a larger size. However, during my visit on July 9, 2024, at store opening time (9:00 AM), I was met with unwarranted rudeness from a female employee who deemed the item "used" simply because it had been opened, despite my clear explanation of the situation. According to the employee, this specific store location had a policy that contradicts the return policy stated online and in-store, which made no mention of such a restriction. Unsatisfied with this explanation, I returned to my vehicle to review the return policy further and confirmed that my purchase was indeed eligible for return. When I re-entered the store to request to speak with a manager, the same employee informed me that the manager, Ryan, refused to come out and speak with me. I overheard the employee misrepresenting the situation to Ryan, claiming the item was not "resalable" and exaggerating the condition of the product. This false narrative was deeply troubling and suggested a severe lack of professionalism and integrity. Following this, I contacted customer service from my car. The representative I spoke with was surprised by the store's actions and confirmed that the company's return policy should apply universally. He attempted to resolve the issue by calling the store directly, but the female employee refused to transfer the call to the manager or a supervisor. Ultimately, the representative apologized and suggested I try returning the item at a different store, where I successfully completed the return without issue. The entire incident left me feeling that I was treated unfairly and unethically, possibly due to my ethnicity. The female employee's conduct, including her derogatory remarks made behind my back, was unacceptable and unprofessional. This behavior not only reflects poorly on her but also on Dick's Sporting Goods as a whole. I urge you to address this matter promptly. Encinitas Dicks was fantastic! Terry was the best ever! We came at the time of closing and kept the store open for us to let us try on insoles for my cleats. While the name itself was passable (definitely issues with the spacing being a bit too far across the back), the numbers were both too low AND spaced out horribly far apart. Noticeable to a casual eye? Maybe, maybe not. To a fan or enthusiast? Horrible. I pointed out the number spacing being off as I got the jersey back and the guy who did it gave some excuse about how the glue on the numbers makes it so that he couldn't get them spaced closer together. And I say an excuse as they had a custom Musgrove on display with far better spacing! With that said, I don't think the guy meant to mess it up but he definitely knew he did. If I could do it all over again as a piece of advice for everyone else, ask whoever makes your custom jersey to let you see the orientation/spacing of your name & numbers before they press it on. Since they use better quality heat press patches, they are basically unable to be removed. They definitely make good customs that I've seen in store & at Petco Park, but I would never go back again for custom jerseys.
