I've never had an issue at this location, clean store setup like most DSG, doesn't have the frills of the new Boston one but it's close, free parking and easy in and out. Usually here for sneakers and they always have selection, promos, and the staff that work this section grabs the kicks fairly quick. We had waited for 3 diff staff members at the Boston one who said they were grabbing the sneakers and never came back or spoke to us again. Kudos to the staff today when we rolled thru. They have plenty of gear for all sports. You can do online buy with instore pickup. We needed a present for family bday and snagged a pair of Hokas, also ordered a pair online because they didn't have the size and color we wanted in store. read more

I love this Dick's Sporting Goods location! This is a great place to go to get anything sports related. I've been coming here since I was a child to get sports equipment, they've got just about every, and anything. For clothes, they offer big brands such as Nike, Adidas, North Face, Patagonia, FP Movement, Calia, UA, & more. Here, they also have hockey equipment, lacrosse, basketball, fishing rods, athletic shoes, water bottles (YETI, Stanley, Owala), etc. Great selection offered here. Highly recommend! ;) read more

These guys have the smallest Dick's I've ever seen. Most would say that size doesn't matter. They say that it's the motion in the ocean. Well, this small Dick's demonstrates that perfectly. It's an absolutely massive Dick's compared to most others but the size isn't being utilized well. I mean, they had 4 pairs of roller blades in the store and 400 Red Sox jerseys that were going to sit there the rest of the season because they are the number of their worst player. Wake up Dick's! Garbage location. Waited 20 minutes for someone to help me get shoes. No one worked in the department. Asked someone in apparel, they told me to wait at shoes. I waited at shoes for 10 more minutes and then left. This store employs nobody. You could walk out with anything you wanted and no one would see or apparently care. How can you have a gigantic store and expect people to be able to buy things if you hire one person to run only one of the departments. I had the absolute worst customer service experience at the DICK'S Sporting Goods Dedham location, and I feel compelled to share. The manager, Whitney Brunet, was incredibly rude and unprofessional. I placed an order online, but when one of my items got cancelled, I called to ask why. Whitney's response was shocking--she literally said, "Well, it's not my freaking fault it got cancelled. We don't control our inventory; if a customer has the item in hand, it won't update." How a manager can talk to a customer like that is beyond me. But it didn't stop there. She hung up on me after I explained how important it was to get my order, especially since it was Christmas Eve. I called back and was transferred to her again, and this time, she told me, "I cancelled your reservation because it's busy today, and you don't understand how a cancelled order works. You're no longer welcome at this location because of how you spoke to me." All I had done was ask if they could check their inventory again. I could tell she was overwhelmed, but I should never have been spoken to like that. She kept hanging up on me when I called back, refusing to give me her name until I had to ask another employee. I will never return to this location, and I'm opening a case with corporate to address her behavior. No customer should ever be treated like that, especially not by a manager. read more

They would give me store credit for 85 percent of the cost but no full credit so they'd get to keep 15 percent and lock me into buying from them again. F that noise. I came here because the one in Brockton that's closer to me was out of the Diamondback Alloy mountain bike pedals I wanted. They had them in stock here hence the extra star. Prices are pretty outrageous especially for sports gear. I checked out the Bruins and Red Sox clothing, water bottles, hats etc. whoa! I can save you time with my critique if you would like, by this summary: just go out of business in Hanover, you offer no value So Tuesday, I go to the store with the intention of checking out the new drivers from TaylorMade, took a few practice swings but had a question with shafts; looked like they were marked "S", "R", and "A" so I thought I would ask an associate, I see that there was someone in the golf department who was sitting at a desk on the phone, he saw me walk over but continued to keep the phone on his neck (he wasn't actually talking as I noticed very carefully) I left him alone for 15 minutes then went back; same position, same ignorance of the customer; brutal intentional avoidance of customer service I thought to myself, well I guess it was a terrible manager (which of course I was accurate) and I will leave and come back later. So, I came back tonight, Friday night, totally willing to pay for the $600.00 driver (without any help from any associate) and bring it up to the checkout My question now is "So where is the tool to adjust the loft and is it included?" associate thinks I am talking about the security key but after I educate him that it is a special tool to adjust loft, he says let me get the "golf guy". It gets much worse: he yells across to the booth for a golf guy and the girl in the booth says yah what does he need (after twice explaining he needs a golf guy and the girl in the booth demanding what the question is, the associate says "customer needs to know what this screw is for" I was amazed at the lack of understanding the most basic question I had--reexplained the question and the booth girl thinks I am asking for the security tool - UGH . So after the girl in the booth realized she really had no clue to the question she called another guy who then states " hmm I think that is extra but I am not sure.." So, I said," how about I leave and go to Braintree PGA store and buy everything from there from a store that cares", and they say "OK" and I say "thanks, goodbye" If the Dick's management is reading this, I would like to suggest you just vacate the Hanover store, you provide no expertise to the public so your prices are not worth the visit, when you hire the same people who would rather serve hamburgers then give any added knowledge to extremely overpriced sportswear then close the business. And... by the way I don't blame the associate, the issue is the unwillingness of management to train the individual to add extra value to an expensive purchase. It is obvious that your management, as usual, is full of inadequate, incompetent, simpletons and my advice is to not even be open after 5:00 pm and/or just vacate that building. Three stars because the associate helping me was helpful, but I had asked for an item when I got here. I looked for an associate and asked her about the item. She asked the person in the back to check because the online store said there was 3 in stock at this place. She said the guy looking said if it wasn't on the shelf they were out. I continue shopping and about an hour later I am checking out and ask to just order it and the cashier tells me he will check and looks on the phone at the item. If you purchase online, pick-up at the store, and then return at the store your purchase will not be refunded to your original purchase even though Dick's website states the following: "Returns with valid proof of purchase will receive a refund based on the initial form of payment" I purchased using paypal. When I returned the items I was told that refunds cannot be issued back to paypal and only issued to a credit card. I was trying to buy softball cleats for my daughter. We were in a bit of a hurry, but not unreasonably rushed. I looked around the shoe department and I could not find youth softball cleats. The shoe department was packed and apparently there was only one person assigned and they were too busy running around to stop and help. I waited around for a few minutes but I realized that it wasn't going to happen, so I hunted down a few more sales associates, but I was unable to find a single person in the store who could tell me where the youth softball cleats were located, or even if they had youth softball cleats. I might be blind but I saw an entire wall of youth baseball cleats and no marked area for youth softball cleats. I checked the website and it looks like there are about 25 different options for baseball cleats and only 6 options available for softball cleats, and most of them were unavailable in the Dedham store. I don't think it was an issue of employees not knowing where the softball cleats were located, and more a management problem where they don't think stocking youth softball cleats is as important as stocking youth baseball cleats. The employees were fine. In fact the woman checking us out was very good! It is 100% management's fault that I could not find anyone to help because for some reason they understaffed the store during the first weeks of softball/baseball season. Hire more people! Or at least put the people who you have already hired on the schedule! read more

I went to the Dick's in Dedham, MA. I went to try on several hundred dollars worth of items and there was only 1 fitting room available with several people waiting to use it. I was told that only 1 fitting room was "working". I'm not certain what that even means as it is a fitting room but I thought this to be ridiculous. I ended up leaving the clothes I wanted to try on, on the counter and walked out, very angry. I thought, what a waste of my time, what a waste of money to not be spent at that store. I tried to place an order on-line for some boots. When I placed the order a prompt came up saying, "There was a problem placing your order." The order was never placed but my bank account was charged $206.86. I called customer service. I explained what happened. She spent way too much time looking for an order that was never created because she didn't listen to what I had said. Finally, she told me to give her my bank's number. 2 problems with that: If she makes the call, I then cannot enter my banking information. Also, this is ineffective when she hangs up before the bank will answer the call. Useless. My second attempt was to have a conversation with the chat line on the site. I have a rep telling me that what I saying is not true and that they didn't charge me anything if the order was never created. I can see my banking information, that dicksspotinggoods.com has charged me $206.86 and I can see my balance, which is $206.86 shorter than it was yesterday as a result of attempting to do business with them. No apology, no accountability, no help, and I am out $206.86. Well, the appropriate word for this is in their namesake and if you need sporting goods, I'd suggest you spend your hard-earned money elsewhere. read more

I went to Dick's for corrective optical swim goggles. They do not carry at any of their retail outlets, despite showing as an available item to order on-line. On-line ordering is useless, since I need to try the goggles out to see which magnification suits my nearsightedness. Of all the goggles carried in the retail stores, corrective optical goggles are the only type that really need to be stocked in the stores. Do not go here to get your skates sharpened. I called ahead and was given some half baked explanation that there may or may not be someone who could sharpen my skates in staff when I would be visiting. When I arrived I paid for the sharpening (even though online it states that skates purchased at Dicks will receive their first sharpening for free). I was directed to an employee who was friendly and told me it would take about 20 minutes. I have no problem with his service to me, but rather the job he did on my new skates. There are a number of divots on the side of the blade and the plastic has been torn up a bit. I am very worried about how this will affect their performance for the entire life of the skate. I wish I had noticed before I left the store so I could have asked for a new pair, which I think would be appropriate. In addition to this, the product was in disarray and other items in chose were not priced as marked. I was also in the store for 40 minutes and not a single staff member approached me or asked if I needed help, except for the gentleman who was called to sharpen my skates. I will be calling Dicks customer service to see what can be done for me. The only reason I will go here in the future is if I can't find the item online. read more

The return process here is a nightmare - save yourself the agony and just order from Amazon instead. Bob the store manager had a multitude of excuses for why he couldn't honor the manufacturer's two year warranty and process an exchange for a broken Callaway golf bag that was purchased at this store last year. Despite me possessing the digital email receipt on my phone, he claimed the order didn't exist in the Dicks system. How is that even possible? Then he said because the item number had changed (despite the replacement golf bag being the exact same product that was originally purchased, just with a different item number), there was no way I could get a return. His next excuse was that the Dicks 60 day return period had been passed. But it doesn't matter, because Callaway (the manufacturer) has a two year limited warranty on their products that applies to equipment sold by their authorized sellers, which includes Dicks. Ian in the golf department on the other hand provided great customer service. He understood the nature of the situation and was able to process the exchange for a replacement golf bag and get it shipped out directly to my house. "No I would not like to sign up for a ScoreCard." Despite the hassle of the cashiers, I find this store to be fine. When I go its usually to check out the golf section. There are often kids running around playing with clubs and smashing around putters, so be aware of this before you nonchalantly pluck a club from the rack and hand over $200+ for it. Not really the store's fault. I like that the employees don't bother you, usually I like to wander and find things on my own. This store lacks quantity and some quality in regards to athletic apparel. Upon closer inspection you realize that the racks are modestly filled and that the size's/styles of things like shorts and tops (men's) are wanting. Perhaps its a result of the season, but I did not see as much new Under Armor, Nike, or Adidas apparel as I had expected. As a comparison, the Natick, MA store is leaps and bounds better and carries a much wider range of stocked items. read more

I bought an $1100.00 treadmill paid extra for delivery and setup, the delivery men came and tried to dump the 250 lb treadmill in my driveway, after pointing out the additional $300.00 Dick's charged me for "Room of Choice" delivery they told me it was too heavy and left with the treadmill. Called Dick's customer service they "Dicked" me around and said new delivery company will deliver soon. I now see why this location gets bad reviews. If I'm going to pay for overpriced sporting goods, you'd think the customer service would be better. Five staff members walked by me and/or were consumed with stocking shelves without offering help as I was navigating the empty store looking for a mouth guard. Then, while in line, waiting to pay, I had to ask if anyone was open. The manager (head coach) was standing there and seemed more interested in socializing with staff rather than being a leader in customer service. Brutal attitudes! These guys were exceptionally good for me. The customer in front of me in the checkout line was creating a bit of drama (maybe a little nutty), but the manager swooped in and addressed the customer and shifted the quickly growing checkout line so quickly that I have to give her credit for her incredible skill of taking a bad and challenging situation that could have become worse and turning it around so quickly and decisively.
