Call this morning to talk to manager he said he would get back to me later today HE didn't. I call back get told oh no it has to be requested by HQ and that won't happen until tomorrow and no manager no owner to speak too. Craving brisket like crazy so sweet husband drove with our children 40 minutes one way to go get Dickeys for dinner. He places the order and gets held up waiting 30 minutes in the drive thru because we had asked for a gallon of sweet tea. 20 minutes of this was waiting for them to figure out how to fill that order since they had run out of lids for their jugs after they already gave him the food. Eventually they send out 4 large cups full of tea. He gets all the way home to find out it's UNsweet tea! They kept him waiting all that time for THE WRONG THING when they could have just said they were out, and not charged him. Oh but wait, there's more.. I'm the one who wanted this in the first place, guess whose food wasn't even in the bag... yep! My brisket, literally the main reason for going was missing. In all fairness, he had time to check the bag while he was sitting there, but frankly, he really shouldn't have to and he didn't want to pull it all out then have to move when the tea came out. I called the restaurant and "the manager" (highly doubtful since she had to ask someone else about everything I said) said the best they could do was remake my food for him to drive alllll the way back to get. I asked for a refund of the missing food and the tea that was wrong instead of wasting the time and fuel. She said she figured out how to do that. Just did my budget today, and she didn't even do that either! I've had some really great Dickey's experiences, but this place is just not one of them. We went there last night for some good bbq (or so we thought). The bbq sandwich had next to nothing on it and meat was maybe lukewarm. The Mac and cheese was hot with zero taste. The $10.00 baked potato was not even warm. The butter and cheese wouldn't even melt. I had to ask for the meat that was supposed to be on it. Gave chicken to wrong person, had to wait for my brisket got it was square cubes wouldn't stay in sandwich full of fat squares, never ever had brisket cut like it. Ribs were too fatty to eat. Went to restroom filthy shoes were sticking to the floor. Hand dryer was so small didn't recognize it as that was so hard on my ears I couldn't use it. I love Dickey's and wish it was closer, but since there's some weirdness, I cannot go high on the stars. First of all, they win the award for the most confusing drive thru. They need signage for people who aren't locals. Fortunately, a local was leaving the drive thru and directed me. Second, they have you sign the credit card stuff still. If that's a product of their credit card provider not realizing we're in a pandemic, they need to get a new provider. Their ice tea was great and I got one pull pork slider and one beef. I got the spicy sauce which weirdly wasn't spicy. This is a Texas chain, so I'm not sure if they dial it down for Minnesota. I've seen them in Texas, so I know they're not making up they're from Texas. The meat and buns were tasty. My husband ordered a brisket sandwich plat÷ with cole slaw and fries. We both got burnt ends after we said we didn't want them. Very dry and stringy. In need of a ton of BBQ sauce. Sunday afternoon at 1:15 and a long line. An indication of good food? Ineffective service? Maybe a tish of each. Inefficiently, we waited in a line that was not in front of the large menu. We alternated sending people from our group to look at the menu. We decided on the 2 pound/2 meat combo and we chose beef brisket and pulled pork. It came with two sides and we ended up getting four: waffle fries, Caesar salad, and two Mac and cheeses. With 2 drinks and two water cups we were very close to $70. The meat: lukewarm but decent tasting. My husband thinks it as much more than #2. The BBQ sauce: regular, sweet, spicy and good tasting. The Caesar salad: good. Waffle fries: good. Mac and Cheese: daughter liked it, son didn't. Ordered food right after they opened for delivery. Delivery said it'll take 45 minutes but got the food in 30 minutes. Spent over 150 bucks just to get old food. The wings, brisket and ribs were old. Meat was dry and felt like it was thrown into the microwave before delivery. It's going to be the 1st and last time I order from this place. Just moved up here and heard a lot of good reviews about the place and thought I'd try it out but I am very disappointed. I'll just stick to Famous Dave's in Forest Lake. We have been to this location a few times and I don't recall that it was this dirty. When the public areas are this gross, you kind of wonder what is going on in the areas you don't see. We have eaten here before and had look forward to it all day after driving from Canada 6 hours. We were greeted by the dining room being closed and in need of a rest room. Had to go through drive through and again eat in our car. The young person was friendly and the food came out fast. To our surprise it was Luke warm. We had to eat in our car BBQ. They supplied us with1cutlery set which had a very small napkin for two people. Like I said I had a great experience before and will try again but I was disappointed. If there was a way to choose a negative star, I would give this place 2 negative stars. Service is beyond lousy! Portions are minimal, even for children. My 7 year old grandson ordered 3 chicken and cheese tacos....I was shocked and appalled when the shell of the taco was only 3" in diameter; he ate 4 and was not full; by no stretch of the imagination is this child an over-eater nor is he over-weight. I ordered 1/2 rack of ribs and received exactly 4 1" ribs all for the high price of $12.99; they only serve pork ribs! NO beef ribs. The chicken nuggets were expensive and way out of line. Taste was lousy. Food was set up on the counter and left setting for over 15 minutes...pork cannot be left out that long to the elements. I stopped in Dickey's on my way back to Minneapolis after a quick trip "up north" to check on the status of the ice at a couple of my favorite fishing spots. While I had seen signs for the brand in a number of states, this was the first time I visited. I'm glad I did. I received a nice greeting from the staff who also took time to familiarize me with the menu. They also recommended the "Meat plus 2 sides and a huge soft drink" special which turned out to be a good deal. I opted for the pork sandwich, bbq beans and mac and cheese. Plus, I had a kids- sized vanilla cone for the road and it's a freebie! A nice touch. My order was prepared right in front of me and was done quickly. Obviously everything was hot but it was also fresh...nothing had been sitting out and I later learned the place did not have a microwave...what a concept! Of the 3 different sauces I tried the Dickey's "house" version and the "sweet" which was my favorite. The size of the portions were perfect for a late lunch. While the staff was very personable I also had the pleasure of chatting with the owner (Rick) who, by the way, is also a hands-on operator. He is obviously focused on staying in contact with guests while providing fresh food served by a smiling team. Another concept that should be of interest to the area competition. I now have a "go to" place when coming and going from the lake that's just off I-35 where the staff serves good food with a smile. I would say realistically my vote would be 3.5 stars. It is good barbecue for the options I have found in MN. We actually eat here on a fairly regular basis to get our BBQ fix. This doesn't compare to real BBQ in KC, Memphis, Texas, or Carolina but it is pretty decent if you're not in one of those places. They have ribs that are pretty good. They can be hit or miss at times. Much of the time the ribs are meaty and fairly juicy. Put a little brush of sauce on em and they are a good dinner. The brisket is also pretty good most of the time. I prefer the chopped brisket to the sliced brisket as you tend to get a little less of the fat and more meat. I have also tried the pulled pork and sausage. The pulled pork is quite good although I still like the brisket better. The sausage is ok but not one of my favorites. The sides are also pretty good. My preferences are the jalapeno beans and the mashed potato casserole. We've also tried most of the others and they are pretty good as well. All in all, Dickey's is a good place to get BBQ when you're not in one of the meccas of BBQ. read more

Until recently I never heard of this BBQ chain. It's a chain that started in Texas and is now expanding to MN. It's very unassuming in appearance and is like a Chipotle for BBQ inside. We might as well have been invisible to the crew since they were so focused on getting ready to close. They did take our order but the kid running the register couldn't find the key for the combo we ordered, kept asking what side we wanted with a combo that comes only with coleslaw, looked at me blankly when I asked for pickle spears and was confused about why we would give him $10.15 to pay a $9.13 bill. We thought we were in for a treat coming to Dickey's. Turns out we were very wrong! We went through the drive thru as we were on the way up north so we were looking for something quick. We sat in the drive thru for over 20 minutes waiting for our food. There was no there ahead of us and there were only a few people inside. The first 5 minutes of waiting, we sat and watched a kid attempting to throw a stack of plates up on a shelf. He finally did succeed but not before he failed miserably knocking bbq all over. The next five minutes consisted of nothing. No one came up to take our money or even appologize for how long it was taking. Finally, someone came to take our money after 15 minutes and then close to 10 minutes after that we got our food. Still, no apology for the wait. As we pulled away, I start giving the kids their food and realize there is no bbq sauce, no napkins and no forks! The food was ok. My husbands brisket was dry, my pulled pork was ok. The kids liked their nuggets and the fries were good. Not to mention the portion size was not what we ordered. It seemed a lot smaller than what it should have been and we didn't get the yeast rolls.
