Absolutely Perfection! OMG I simply can't say enough about the revamped menu for food and drinks. 15 stars wouldn't be enough. If your seeking the best experience and food this is your spot anywhere near North Branch! read more

I was very disappointed with my experience here. The salsa had almost no flavor and tasted more like plain tomato sauce than fresh salsa. When my meal arrived, the entire plate was covered in what I believe was mole sauce, which completely overwhelmed the dish. The chile relleno was heavily breaded and honestly tasted like a processed frozen product rather than something made fresh. Unfortunately, the enchilada wasn't much better and was also lacking in flavor. I usually like to give restaurants a second chance because everyone can have an off day, but based on this visit, it will be difficult to convince me to come back. There are simply too many other Mexican restaurants in the area that offer fresher, more flavorful food. read more

The food was so so. The salsa had a weird flavor in it. The host was flat out rude. Our server seemed ok, but when the bill came, the math did not add up and we questioned the bill. The difference was a few bucks, but it was more than tax. The server just reiterated the amount and refused to explain, we paid the bill and left no tip. Very weird. read more

I was feeling adventurous, so I went to Don Julios instead of my old standby, Dickeys BBQ. Everyone is so polite and attentive at Don Julios. I was quickly seated. They came by for my order before I figured out the menu. I'm assuming they have a solid regular crowd of locals. I base this partially on that the specials board just gave the number, but no description of some of the items. I ordered the fajitas de mar. It's just under $20 which might sound a little high for a Mexican restaurant in a strip mall, but wow it was good and a lot of food. Unless you are a big eater, you could split it with someone else. I didn't finish my guac salad or chips and salsa, but I still was overly full when I left. I need to learn to stop eating earlier than that. I had even burned off 600 calories on the bike that afternoon, I still didn't have room for all that food. Funny thing that happened was the assistant brought out all of the food except the seafood but still announced the dish. I was a little confused and poking around my salad to see if the seafood was in there. He came back a couple of minutes later with the seafood. I never got around to dessert, so maybe a future review. read more

The food was delicious! The atmosphere was just fine. I had pozole soup and the pork was generous and flavorful! I believe that the pork is there specialty! read more

Visiting North Branch from California for work. I heard from fellow coworkers that this place had good Mexican food, so why not try it out. The ambience was fine, the typical Mexican style of restaurant. The server was attentive while taking my order right away. Now for the food. Tasteless comes to mind. For sure an American style of Mexican food for sure. Even the salsa remained me upgraded ketchup. Score: Ambiance is a 3 Service is a 4 Food is a 1 read more

Great food and service! We love going here when we are in the mood for great Mexican food!

Absolutely disgusting just why and there was a whole MOVING ROACH in my food. Then they still made my family pay for their meal. So gross. DO NOT GO HERE read more

I think that overall the staff is friendly here. I just had some shrimp tacos and the waiter spilled the red sauce all over me and the liquor menu. The waiter didn't bother to get me napkins to clean up the mess. I think the food is great, but that one waiter needs to learn to respect people who eat out at the restaurant. Don't get me wrong lost of the staff is good. It would just be nice to have silverware when you are sitting down at the table and have rice. Overall I find this restaurant to be mixed which is why I give it a 3 star and not a 2 star or a 4 star. It definitely could use some improvement in the quality of service and having the basic amenities such as silverware when you sit down to eat. read more

The absolute worse! Taco Bell is better. We have given them way too many opportunities. Waitstaff extremely rude. Don't waste your hard earned money. NOT authentic Mexican food by far !!!! read more

I'm not sure why every time we go there, we get the worst waiter. Makes us feel as if they don't want us to go there anymore. Their food is also going downhill. Just like every other restaurant in North Branch. read more

I enjoy coming here to have my fix of great Mexican food. My former mother in law was from Mexico and the food at Don Julios is almost as good as hers. Love the combos they offer. Can't wait to go back! read more

Good Mexican food at reasonable prices. Will definitely stop in again when in the area.

Reasonable prices, portions, and great service by the staff. Best Mexican food around.

First time going here for lunch. Wasn't sure what to expect. But was pleasantly surprised! The food was good, and very good proportion for the money you pay. I think it was one of the cheapest meals at a restaurant I've ever done with the most I've ever had. I will definitely go there over and over and over again. The only thing that I wish they would have, but I did not ask for either, was a nutritional guide. I do watch what I eat, and it would be nice to have a nutritional guide to look at. But otherwise I was very happy with what I had!! Thank you, and I will be back!! read more

This place is for anyone who likes their margaritas out of a machine, stale chips, kraft singles on their quesadilla, mushy/soggy rice and frozen meat. The service is friendly, not too fast. If you're starving and this is the only place in town (which is pretty much the case) you will live, but may be disappointed in spending money here. Beer and guacamole were good. read more

Authentic Mexican Food? LOL you gotta be kidding me! This place looks like a Mexican restaurant but the food was below average. I ordered four tacos thinking it was corn tacos, but when I got them they came out individually wrapped in aluminum foil. They were flour tacos and appeared to be microwaved. The taco's were watery and salty! I live in the area and would never go their again. (my water didn't even get topped off.) read more

Been here several times and going again today. More later. Ordered a chimichanga, very good but not what was expected. My friend did also with same results, one beef, one chicken. With a white cream sauce, rice and avocado salad. Tasty, not deep fried, looked oven baked. read more

We are trying to support local businesses in our small town. We ordered our food and they said it would be 15 mins we'll 25 mins later are food was ready. They don't take your name when you place your order so they call off what's in the bag. So hopefully you remember. When we arrive home to unpack our food half of our order was missing. Really disappointed. Will not be going back any time soon. read more

Surprised by the negative reviews. I've been to Mexican food places all over the country and i thought Don Julio is pretty good. The dish i had was fantastic and everyone in my party enjoyed their meals as well. The service was great, staff were friendly and hard-working, and our food was good. Can't really ask for much more. Considering the limited dining options in the area, this is definitely my go-to for Mexican. read more

This Don Julios has gone HORRIBLY downhill since my last visit in 2018. To critique the place from the start...We WERE seated immediately... awesome.. Drink orders were taken. Chips and salsa arrived.. but the salsa was bland and the chips tasted like the oil they were cooked in was a bit old. They offered no hot sauces either. .. We ordered 3 Jumbo house margaritas made with a Patron upgrade.. they were horribly sweet.. with no olive garnish, as their own drink menu showed. I have ALWAYS ordered the biggest item on their menu, the "Special plate".. THIS time it was absolutely disgusting... 4 of the 5 items on my plate were so salty I couldn't eat them after one bite. The Chile Rellenos on my plate was the ONLY lightly-salted food.. but it was frozen on the inside still.... Sorry MN.. but DJ's has lost all my respect. And Since WHEN... has Spanish rice been made with "Veg-All"? Horrible experience tonight. After tonight.. I reallllly don't want the alleged Pine City DJ' to open there... We're better off with a Taco Bell or Taco John's. Sad to say. read more

Don Julios - Our family used to frequent the North Branch location.. when did they start using VEG-ALL in the Spanish rice? - Mexican Near Me - North Branch, Minnesota

Our favorite place to go for family dinners. This one or the NB one are both fantastic. Food is quick and very good. I'm laughing at the other review of "not authentic Mexican food" coming from a white girl named Sarah. Hilarious...it's exactly what Mexican food is. Made by, ummm an all Hispanic staff. read more

I've been in twice and I live in the area. I love tamales and when I tried a combo lunch it was the worst I've ever had. Mushy with no flavor. I would give them another try if a friend wanted go. Typical frozen chain food was my impression. The margarita's are ok~big batch made on tap, weak and over priced for what you're getting. In the future I'll stick with a beer, that way you know what you're getting. I sat at the bar and had a view into the kitchen/dish washing area and it was a dirty mess with a greasy wet nasty floor. Staff appeared to be comprised entirely of ethnic men who are friendly. read more

Absolutely love this place, best authentic Mexican place in the area. Always get some sort of fajitas, but my favorite are the Hawaiian fajitas which contain, carnitas, chicken, pineapple, green peppers and onion. Always an enormous amount of food for the price and consistently delicious. 5/5. read more

I used to like Don Julio's but it continues to disappoint. Yes people are nice but had probably one of the worst service experience yesterday. First we are seated next to a table with 8 little kids and 4 adults. Not necessarily a bad thing but when the waiter appears to frazzled it's a bad thing. The rest went down hill. No need to go into details. The food was mediocre at best. I think this place should switch to fast food as that's the quality and as fast as it gets to your table. Which is baffling. Good luck read more

Excellent place to go, love the food, love the Music, love the staff. This restaurant always amazes me, I go with my family of 6 and they are so friendly with all of us even my children who love knuckles from the staff and high fives. Fast food americanized mexican. The only thing authentic is the employees. Tap beers are cheap compared to other bars/restaurants and they give free tortillas and salsa. Employees are always freindly but i always get the rushed feeling like they want you in and out as quickly as possible.... still better than taco bell read more

This restaurant is a great addition to the food fare choices in little North Branch, MN. I'm really glad that they opened here. We don't go out very often, but on special occasions, Don Julio's is consistently good. Love the chips and salsa before the meal, servers are friendly and service is speedy, and I LOVE the fajitas at this restaurant. I've also visited the Don Julio's location in Forest Lake and I personally like the food I have had here in North Branch much better. Don't know what the deal is with that, since I presume it's owned by the same people. read more

Delicious!!!! Nice and clean atmosphere, friendly staff and super yummy food! The shrimp that came with the grilled tilapia was AMAZING!

Good food, great service. Always try to eat something different and always pleased.

Are these people working here from another planet? As soon as we walked in the door the host was rude and had an attitude. It seemed as if it caused him pain that we wanted to sit in a booth rather than at a table. Then every other person working there who came to our table had the same horrible attitude. Not friendly at all, didn't seem to care other than to get the food to us and have us out out of the way. The only thing redeeming at all is that the food is pretty good, but not good enough to make up for the negative five star service. Sorry we bothered you! read more

Have eaten here a few times and it continues its rapid decline. Last night was the worst. All four guests mentioned the lack of taste in the food. The fajitas were tasteless and the churros were so full of oil it was like they forgot to turn the frier on. When asked about the server just responded "Sorry" and walked away. That will be our last time there. Oh, the beer was cold... read more
