Dick Taylor Memorial Park is a very large park in Reno. The park is close to UNR. The park has a parking lot to park in but it's difficult to find a spot because the college students use this lot often. The park is mostly clean. Some garbage and graffiti was present. There are a lot of mature trees which provide shade, however, there were a few homeless people sleeping under the trees. There are four full court basketball courts. There are tennis courts at this park. There are two covered eating areas at this park. There are several picnic tables spread throughout the park. There is a walkway which goes through the park. There are bathrooms at this park. The bathroom was clean on the inside. There is a large, grassy area to play on. The playgrounds at Dick Taylor are fantastic. The soft padding underneath the playgrounds is worn but the equipment is in good condition. There are three play structures to play on. One is for toddlers and the other two are for the bigger kids. There are swings and toddler swings at this playground. There is one swings called the Liberty Swing which looked cool. There are zip lines at this park. There are plenty of fun options on these playgrounds. There are two baseball/softball fields at this park. There were on bases on either field. This park has a lot to offer. For a quick evening walk it's nice, a good neighborhood. There is a park nearby for children and small barbecue hosting area. However I noticed it crowded. I don't recommend to walk at night. read more

This park is located 2 miles away from the entry of the east side of the unr campus. The park is surrounded by apartment complexes, housing, elementary school and Evelyn Mount community center. The playground is equipped with slides and swings for kids. Three reasons for the low scoring. First during the week UNR students park their cars at this sites public parking area, which makes it difficult for individuals and families to enjoy the park if they can't find parking. Two the park has a horrible squirrel problem. The ground squirrels dig holes in various parts of the park making the ground hard to walk on. Lastly the restrooms at this park are not maintained which is a shame because the park has so much potential. read more

Dick Taylor Park is an amazing park located in the not-so-best part of town. The thing about this park is that it is located next to a low-income neighborhood. There are a few nursing homes located right next to the park as well as a lot of apartments and houses that have seen way better days. Although the neighborhood might be a little sketchy, it barely reflects on the park. Sure there are a few homeless people every now and then hanging out, but they keep to themselves and are actually pretty friendly and not threatening. There is also a community center right next to the park; and the livestock event center and the University of Nevada, Reno are just a few walking minutes away, so this park gets quite a bit of traffic. The park itself is fairly large. There are two tennis courts at the northwest side of the park. There is a large grassy area and a baseball field in the north/northeast end of the park. There are four basketball courts to the east, two playgrounds/jungle gyms in the middle, and two parking lot located in the west and southeast of the park. There are also ample amounts of trees and picnic tables located throughout. The tennis courts aren't maintained very well, but they're great for casual games. The ground on the grassy area/baseball field is a little uneven, but they're great for practices and/or pickup games of baseball, football, and soccer. And the basketball courts are the most well-maintained. There are actual nets under the basket, and the paint has not faded or at least it is repainted often. The playground is really cool. There are some things there that I haven't seen anywhere else like a swing for someone in a wheelchair! The large trees also offer a lot of shade, and there are tables with chess boards etched onto the table. Overall, this is a great park with lots of things to do! You can play tennis, football, soccer, baseball, and basketball. You can take your family to play on the jungle gyms. You can take your dog to play fetch or take them on a walk. You can have a picnic. You can pretty much do it all here! And although it's located in the not-so-best neighborhood, this is actually a really safe park. I see coaches hold practices, I see games being played out on the field, and I see the community coming together making this park safe and fun for everybody! Every time we go to a playground, I tell my kids to go to the bathroom before we leave but it seems they don't listen or is it just their tiny bladders to where they insist we have to go to the bathroom shortly after getting to the park? There was the creepiest dude sitting on the railing by the women's restroom, without shoes, with dried blood all over his legs and a drugged out expression on his face. My daughter asked, why does he have so many boo boos on his legs - then I tried to explain drugs and homelessness to a 5 year old and thought why did we have to come to this park?!?! That was the worst part of our visit but then factor in people there having barbecues and using loud profanities the whole time and the multitude of squirrels that can somehow smell food through packages and came right up to us (they could have disease)- makes this a big thumbs down. :( read more

A nice park right next to a community center. There are trees, open paths a nice layout that works with the surrounding buildings and nice width and depth. There is covered seating as well next to the grassy areas. Most times of the day, you find people here, but they are sparsely located and you can go there yourself and do your own thing. I feel like this park improves the appearance of the local area and that it should feel more depressing and run down than it is based on likely home values and the appearances of the homes, but it just isn't. Park clientele feel very responsible and high quality with no one remotely a troublemaker. Based on the google.com review, it may have a lot to do with hyper-vigilant tattletales at the nearby community center. That may result in somewhat of an oppressive nature in the park related to noise and horsing around, but it also keep the park nice, clean and with a very upscale feel. read more
