It was odd to see these things occur because there is a sign at the park which clearly states it's a drug free zone... I think the kids of this area deserve better. I hope Reno PD can come clear these junkies out of there. Now to the actual park. The park was mostly clean, minus the homeless. The playground is fantastic. The playground is large and has several options to enjoy. The "spider web" is really cool. There are several spinning toys to play on. There are swings at this park. There are toddler swings at this park. The playground has a soft padding underneath it. There are wood chips underneath the swings. There is a really nice basketball court at this park. I had a friend who lived in this neighborhood a while ago, so I've seen it during some less than ideal days, but as they began to refresh this park and build some newer homes around it, you could see the whole area changing. Before, the park was old, decrepit, and had a reputation for attracting an unsavory element to the area. The new park brings some much needed vibrancy to the area, as well as a friendliness that was notably absent before. If I were living in this neighborhood I would certainly appreciate and take advantage of the new amenities. The playground equipment was all new, the geometric climbing structure made me want to be a kid again, and I was overall amazed at how clean it was too. Kudos to the city for investing in this asset and for the neighborhood for treasuring it appropriately. I hope it continues!

AMENITIES: Barbecue, basketball court, pathways, picnic shelter, playgrounds, tables/benches, and year-round restrooms. You need bathrooms on the other side of the park also. Atmosphere - Part of the 1962 acre master community. 8 acres put aside for this park. Open space, wetland, etc. Service - N/A, self service. Price - Free. Owner Suggestion - Thank you for such a nice park, but can I suggest more shade? And another set of bathrooms on the other side of the park.

Even some large green spaces like the Presidio and Golden Gate Park. What does this have to do with Sage Park? Everything! Most of us have perspective from what we know or have available, for me the parks in the SF Bay Area are usually crowded, dirty, used needles on the ground, homelessness, and generally the greenery is well, not so green. Oh, to top it off. No parking. When I visited Sage Park, it was a pleasant less than a mile each way and a great walk for me and my dog. The park, while on a slight slope offers a wide grass field in front and the rear adjacent to some age appropriate play structures as well as a basketball court. There aren't that many benches but there are some covered ones near the play structures and along the concrete path that cuts through the center of the park. I did not see any water fountains or very many trash cans, however there were two doggie bag stations. Problem was neither had any bags for two of the three times I visited. Although some of the path lamps were vandalized and broken, overall the infrastructure was in good shape. Now for me, it was great to visit a neighborhood park and NOT see trash, homelessness, used needles, or crowds. While I did not drive to the park, I did see plenty of available parking. Added bonus, I felt comfortable allowing my dog off leash for a few minutes at the back green area. So, for this out of towner, Sage Park was a welcome sight and glad to have it in my new neighborhood.

We…read morestopped by bc the wife wanted to picnic at a park for a Sunday lunch, and this place fit the bill. Good thing it was only a mildly warm weekend, as Idlewild is in the middle of the city, so not exactly "in the woods." However, there are lots of trees here so they provided some shade for our time here. Parking was easy, plenty of spaces along the main road of the park, and some dedicated spots in several areas too. We discovered that one of the main attractions here is a pond, so we picnicked while we sat on the side of the pond and watched ducks do their waddle thing and just like the ones at William Land Park, these ducks were also are very comfortable with humans and they came by and tried to ask for food and watched us eat. The pond is about the same size as the Land Park one, for those who know Sactown, but it's a bit bigger, I think. It's also a man-made pond, but with fish in it and wildlife around. Besides the pond, there's a rose garden just across the main road leading into the park, and a sensory garden, as well as a play structure for kids and a little train runs through the park that you can buy tickets and ride on (best for little ones). The park is pretty well-maintained and look to be in good condition overall. Landscaping is kept up with lots of trees, flora, plants, and fields throughout. All in all, a nice park in Reno, a little oasis in the middle of the biggest little city in Nevada.
