I just leased my new Traverse last Friday - first Chevrolet vehicle ever! And I have to say that my experiences with the general manager, sales, and finance departments were excellent. You can buy a new vehicle anywhere - it's the people that make the difference in the car buying experience, and Dick Genthe does it right! Duane Hess handled the lease of our vehicle. He was friendly, knowledgeable and patient throughout. He made sure to take me to my new vehicle and show me many of the features that I would have never discovered on my own. Let's face it - I'm never going to read the owner's manual, so this overview of the vehicle was critical and he did a great job. For example, I have seen the TC button on several of my other vehicles, but I finally know when and how to use it! He had me set up the On Star and my Chevrolet apps and we made sure I had set everything up correctly. I made some sort of entry error in the set up along the way, and Duane was so patient with me and helped troubleshoot where I went wrong. I left the dealership with everything working properly. I emphasize his patience because we were there on the last day of the month, and the dealership was incredibly busy. He could have easily breezed through the process to move on to another customer, but he made sure everything was just right before we left. Brad Wise, the General Manager, checked in on us while we were there. He was friendly and interested in making sure everything was going smoothly - it was! He clearly has surrounded himself with a great staff to make our experience positive. We had the kids sitting in the waiting area watching TV while we filled out the paperwork, and he took the time to visit them and he gave them each a bobble head car. I was looking for a new 2026 Chevrolet Equinox and found the vehicle with the options I wanted at Genthe Chevrolet. After negotiating the price, I was sent to the used car finance manager to complete the paperwork. On his I-Pad he directed me to sign. I asked what I was signing. He said I was approving the odometer reading on the vehicle. He then proceeded to use my signature to complete the contract and only reviewed the monthly payment with me. I went to test drive a vehicle today 12/29/25. Scott was my "salesman". I asked for the CARFAX information and Scott scrolled through it on the computer, the vehicle had 30,000 miles on it with only 1 oil change. I made mention of it and he says "well it's got 30,000 miles on it, how many oil changes are you expecting on it?" THEN when he handed me the test drive paperwork and I read it over, it said I was liable for any damages once on the road; completely understandable, but when I had the paperwork and re-read the contract for a test drive while he went to pull the vehicle up... he walks in and says "what? Do you think I am hiding something?" God forbid I read over a contract again that I signed. I stood up and said no thanks. Not happy and not doing business with anybody there. Do not take your vehicle to Genthe for any service. They are the most dishonest service department I have ever had to deal with. When dropping the vehicle off, the service department was given a very detailed description of: "When accelerating the vehicle, at 40 to 44 MPH the steering wheel would wobble and a shaking movement could be felt under the pedal. However, when I removed my foot from the pedal (during the speed range) both of the issues would stop immediately - including that both issues were only happening at the 40 to 44 MPH range. I had taken it to Belle Tire before I dropped it off to ensure there were no tire issues. Belle Tire gave me a complete print out of the test they did which showed absolutely no issues with my tires." - I was called the same day by Ron to get an approval on a "Road Force Test" to rule out any tire issues and was quoted a fee of $125.00. I explained I could provide documentation of no issues with my tires, Ron replied "I cannot not move forward with any service on the vehicle without the Road Force Test due to the Chevy Corporate checklist of items. If you do not approve the test, you might as well come back and pick your car up". - After approving the test, I was initially told by Mike (the service manager) that the rear tire needed to be replaced and was given two completely different reasons why. I was denied a tire rotation request to see if that would give any further indication on the tire or source of vibrations. Mike stated "I am 100% sure of what Ron is telling me and that replacing the tire will solve the issue." - Replaced the tire through Genthe only to be told that my vehicle still failed the driven road test (even though Mike said he was 100% sure the tire replacement would fix the issue) and there was still wobbling and shaking in the vehicle followed by Ron stating "it might still be another tire" - but the other 3 tires passed the initial Road Force Test. - The pico scope test verified my axles needed to be replaced. I asked Ron which axles which he replied "both rear axles". I questioned the tire replacement again as now the vibration was being caused by the rear axles NOT the tire. Ron had no answer and only replied "a damaged rear axle may cause the wobbling and shaking in the front". - I received a call from Enterprise yesterday at 1:23pm asking when I would be bringing the rental back to them - Genthe had called them an hour earlier but NEVER called me to confirm my vehicle was done. Arrived at Genthe at 4:40pm, walked into the service department, and was completely ignored by a gentleman (who I later found out it was Mike the service manager). After standing at a desk for 3 minutes, another employee finally asked "what do you need" - it took the employee 9 minutes to even find my file which was shoved in Ron's desk who was not even at work yesterday. -I was told I owed $429.53 and was was not given documents on my original tire showing failure. The paperwork stated the FRONT axles were replaced. -I asked to speak Mike and he said ""sometimes Ron says one thing but actually means another. But the front axle and back axle are the same thing so". My fiancé attempted to speak with Mike but was told TWICE " I am done talking to you about this, I have nothing further to say" and told us to file a claim with Chevy corporate. - Got home and realized my front bumper was not reattached correctly but the bumper should have never been removed at any point while Genthe had my vehicle to which now I am being told it was never removed. read more

Literally everything was as easy as could be, there was zero pressure for anything, I had several options, and her and the finance guy went above and beyond to make sure everything stayed within what I wanted and then some. I had saw an add on Instagram, had reached out to them, someone by the name of Addison had reached out to me and they were great!! I had told them i would come to the dealership, we have over half of a dozen in the house and said hey why not get rid of one of them. Anyways i showed up to the dealership, i asked for a manger just like i was asked to do by Addison and then he put me with someone named Tony, Tony said yeah without employee i can't get anything under $300 per month lol. And basically just went on about employee discount...which i don't have so not sure if he wanted me to get hired at GM so i can come get a car from him. Long story short he said that it'll be mid $300 for equinox and high $400 for a blazer (jokes) thennnn after leaving, i get a text from someone and i had told them about my experience and they ignored my text completely...then after almost 3 months they have the audacity to text me to see if I'm still looking for a car... read more

The need for repair doesn't fall on Genthe Chevrolet because they didn't build my car, but...Unfortunately I had to return to the service department, but I consistently have and did find comfort in knowing that Scott has the situation in hand. My manual transmission was stuck in first gear. I called Scott and told him that I was driving very cautiously to the dealership (I was less than a mile away). He reassured me that my afternoon wouldn't be interrupted, that as soon as I arrived a loaner car would be there. As said so, I spent less than 5 minutes there and finished my day without delay! Transmission adjusted in a timely manner and all is well since. Thank you Genthe Chevrolet for Scott and your service department. When I left my first review Scott was the service manager. Things ran smoothly and he made sure everything was taken care of. You got in right away and If you had to leave your car for more than a day they would give you a loaner for as long as it took to fix it. Sometimes they can't get to your car right away if there are a lot there to be worked on and/or your car itself may take a few days to fix. Scott left some time ago and everything fell apart. I called the other day and the woman answering the phone said she could no longer transfer me to service to make an appointment or ask a question. You have to leave your name and number and a service department employee will call you back. When the man called me back he informed me that it would be a week to a week and a half before he could get me in. My check engine light had been on and the computer code said I needed a new thermostat. It is not recommended that you drive your car with a bad thermostat. He said they no longer provide a loner car for you to drive either so unless you're rich and can afford to rent a car for a week or two (on top of the car repair bill) while waiting for them to work on your car you're up shits creek. OR maybe you dont mind being housebound for that long while you are waiting. Heaven forbid you have a health emergency and need to get to the doctor or hospital or if you are not retired and need to get to your job. Horrible sales, worse service, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. Went in to buy a car, couldn't get anyone to help me even though people were just sitting around. So I took my business to Rogers and bought the vehicle I wanted without problem. Received a recall notice and a coupon for free oil and wheel balance. Because they are close to me I took it in for the one day job. They called and said they were busy and asked to keep the vehicle overnight, inconvenient but not a huge problem as I have a third vehicle. The next day I was told it was all done and to pick it up, so I did. When I got it home noticed the wheels were not rotated, cause I have a scratch on one rim. Called and they said EVERYTHING was complete, very rudely I might add (Scott or Steve). But I took it back and they did this time rotate the tires and admitted the oil change wasn't done either (eventhough the oil life miles was reset). This made three days in the shop for a simple recall fix, tire rotation and oil change. Earlier this year I was hit by another vehicle. Dick Genthe wasn't even on AAA's approved repair list. I took it to Roger's (on list) everything went smooth. I have ZERO confidence in this dealerships ability to do anything correct. I won't go back here again. I bought a 2010 Malibu here and I was so excited the only thing that I was disappointed about at the time was the remote start didn't work. They tried programming the remote start that came with the keys but it wasn't working. I went back into them and they told me they would order me a new one and program it but they never did. I went into them about 7 or 8 times and they just kept telling me the same thing. 2 years later my warranty is up and I still never got that fixed and they said I would have to pay for a new one now. On my most recent oil change on Saturday they inform me that the previous oil change that they did in 3 months ago, someone screwed something a little bit too tight, turns out I need a new oil pan.. they can't get my car to service shop until Monday and they cant put oil in my car, so I leave my car their until Monday. So on Tuesday I get a call saying that the cost is going to be about $600? Then the start naming off more stuff to equal about $1500? I'm sorry? They tried to get me to pay for their mess up? An hour to look at it. At 3:50pm was told it was a bad tire and then need to replace it. It is going on to be 5pm now and they still have not replaced the tire. Thought this was a professional shop. I had a terrible experience with Dick Genthe during the cash for clunkers days. They actually sold me a car, then took it back the next day because they made a mistake. Several years later my husband and I gave them another chance and bought a car from them. Our salesman was Dave Teska. Hes fine. No issue there. The car itself is fine. My cars check engine light came on. Duck Genthe does not service cars on Saturdays. But they sell them on Saturdays. We made a service appointment on a weekday (very inconvenient) and my husband dropped it off. They told him it will be several days before they even LOOK at it. Days. A normal mechanic doesn't take that long. It might be days to repair a problem but not to diagnose They can loan you a rental car but it has to be approved by the insurance and they will not backdate it even if it is approved. We purchased extended warranties, protectiob plans, all that stuff. But they either don't honor it or claim your issue doesn't apply. Its just a lot of nickel and dime b.s, lousy communication, terrible service for the same product that a million other dealers are selling. read more

First time attempting to patronize this particular Chevy dealer . I take my car to the dealer for oil changes . I go on to their website and set an appointment for an oil change and tire rotation for 1 pm. I arrive at one and went into the service center , because ai was unaware they had a separate quick lube. They advertise 15 minute oil changes and to set an appointment. I arrive on time and when I got to the quick lube, I see there are 4 cars ahead of me. I call in to the quick line explaining I have an appointment, the tech proceeds to tell me that doesn't matter it's first come first serve! I have never set an appointment anywhere and been told later that it's first come first serve . To top it all off, the have two lanes , but only one lane is open . 3-4 people inside but only one lane open. Save your time and money and go to a different dealer , it's likely this way for other service as well. read more

Took my wife's car to the Express Oil Change after several years of avoiding them due to constant poor service. We purchased the vehicle from them and was thinking it's been several years since we had problems with the Express Oil Change. At least 3 times in the past, after having the oil changed and returning home I would have oil leaking from the vehicle in my driveway. I thought I would give them another chance, well got the oil changed, drove the car home, parked in driveway and the next morning had a huge oil spill in my driveway. Put the car on ramps and oil was dripping from the loose oil filter. Tightened the filter to stop the leak. Took the car to the dealer with pictures and asked to see the service manager, the write up guy said he was going to get someone from the Express Oil Change area, I told him I wanted the Service Manager but he want and got the Oil Change person. They asked for the my paper work and was going to write up the person that didn't tighten the filter, I suggested they should retrain the person instead for writing him up, they were going to get back with me but never heard nothing from them. Yes I am maybe upset but I have a large oil stain on my driveway. This seems to be a problem with their Quick Oil Change Service after talking to other friends. Never received the follow up call from the Oil Change Manager as promised. I can understand this happening maybe once but this has happened at least 4 times to me and also to other people I was telling about the spill in my driveway. Update! When they screwed it up the last time the owner gave me a new warranty for 24,000 miles and 24 months. Recently, in the last month, my instrument panel went haywire. I had my warning lights flashing and then my panel would black out, making it hard to see my speedometer. A friend of mine is a Ford engineer and was sweet enough to offer to switch out the panel for me, for a used one that would work perfectly well. This is the loophole Genthe is using. Because I switched out the panel that has the real mileage listed, for another panel with the wrong mileage, they won't honor the warranty on the ac compressor part. Even though I still have the original panel with my correct mileage. Who would try to scam someone on a part using too many miles? That makes zero sense. And since they couldn't properly fix it the first two times I'd say it's their obligation to do something now. I was hoping this would be the moment they could redeem themselves but instead have only proven how little they care about providing top notch service. Dick Genthe in Southgate has to be the single worst dealership experience my family has ever had. I had originally taken my car in to have my ac compressor looked at after it began making a loud noise. Originally, we were under a mechanical warranty so the repair and part were covered. When they returned my car to me I found that it was still making a loud noise but was told that the warranty company had insisted on an after market part and that they could sometimes make noise. They assured me is was safe to drive and shouldn't be a problem. I, not being a mechanic, took their word for it.(Of course, the belt attached to the compressor is also attached to the rest of the moving parts in my engine so if it failed, everything would seize up.) A few months later the noise grows louder and I take the car in to have it checked out and also have my brakes looked at. They tell me that the warranty has lapsed and we will have to pay for replacing the compressor. We ask "if the part was faulty in the first place, why should we pay to replace it? Your mechanic installed it." They tell us that the warranty company is responsible and refuses to fix the issue. We are told we have a 6 month, 6000 mile warranty and it has lapsed. One of the other guys that works there looks at the paperwork and points out that even if that were true, we were still under 6000 miles AND 6 months. We are shuffled around and told they would have to contact the warranty company. I get a phone call saying that they are still refusing to replace the part. So skipping ahead of being shuffled around between four or five people, the garage manager comes out and highlights the warranty company phone number and writes down the warranty info for us. He is the ONLY helpful person we dealt with. He urges us to call Ryan about the part. When we do we are informed that DICK GENTHE OWNS THE WARRANTY AND LIED TO US ABOUT IT. It's not a 6 month warranty. It's a 12 month, Dick Genthe's mechanic wrote it up for 12 months. DICK GENTHE LIED TO TRY TO GET OUT OF BEING HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR A PART THAT COULD FAIL AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. Steve denies this, tells us we can't see the hard copies of our paperwork and does everything in his power to derail us. Eventually he relents "don't worry I won't leave you holding the bag" and begrudgingly says he will get the car repaired. In the meantime we deal with the ever passive aggressive John who tells us "he thinks it's a pulley but he guesses they will just have to shell out the 800 bucks to fix our car." It's not our fault but they treat us like it is. So we are down a car for a full week, lied to, given the run around and informed by the warranty company Ryan that this entire time it was DICK GENTHE'S fault and they were the ones trying to get out of fixing their mistake. The woman at Ryan even called Steve to inform him of his responsibility, which apparently was not convincing enough for him to immediately do the right thing. We also had the pleasure of listening to a mechanic complain in front of us that he was sick and tired of being told to slap bandaids on cars and push them through to get them out. What a class act. John and Steve I hope you get fired for this. I have an 8 year old daughter who drives in that car with me every day. God forbid I actually let you run me off like you tried to do for a week straight and something happened to her because that part failed. Thank you to the garage full of honest mechanics who did their best to help us. At least some people in the building were helpful and had integrity. I have taken my car to this dealer ship to oil changes A 2012 Sonic. Every time I take my car to this place I have had problems after problem. First they stripped the screw to my oil pan and tried to tell me because I had 60,000 miles on the car that happened all by it self. The last time they broke the Oil Cover or some kind of plastic cap in the oil change shop. As I watch them beating on my car with a drill. I went into the dealership and insisted they send some mechanics to check my car. Of course 2 days later my car was making a horrible noise and low and behold when I took it back I needed a $300 alternator and it was not their fault. I purchased my Cruze new there in 2014. Last week I took it in for a routine oil change, which they charged me for but did not perform. I realized this when I looked at the oil on my dipstick which was worn out. When pressed, they admitted they "overlooked it." This is the third time a maintenance procedure was charged to me by the service department but not performed (a prior charge for an oil change which was not performed and a proven event of not rotating tires, to which they finally admitted). Finally, the dealership sent me away with a visible oil leak, This leak is a known problem with the O rings around the oil dipstick. Mike, the service representative told me it was just "natural spray from compression (I'm 43 and have driven 8 cars over 100,00 miles). He told me to ignore it, telling me it was nothing to worry about and very minuscule. Before I returned to Chicago the spewing oil had leaked onto the manifold causing smoke fumes and potentially causing a fire. My Chicago dealership said they should have fixed it immediately and prevented me from operating the car.. They will lie to your face and steal your money. One time is a mistake, a second is a sloppy shop, the third is straight up thievery. Mike was the service contact who lied about the repairs and assured me all was well. To boot, Mike, the service guy looked at the leaking oil around my dipstick and told me to worry, it is normal with high-compression engines. By the time I returned to Chicago, the hood insulation and engine was coated in oil and making a burning smell. My local dealership found it right away and repaired it. The repairmen at Genthe are either untrained to do their jobs, don't care, or are just too dumb to figure basic items out, which this, my last American car, has plenty. A basic O ring was shot on the dipstick; a 4 year old could have diagnosed it. They are probably all crooked but Mike was too busy with his Trump propaganda to do his job. read more

I purchased a used car from this dealership, and recently visited them for service (haven't been there since). Both experiences are probably the two best experiences I've had at a car dealership. They are extremely nice, and, in the service department, give off good vibes both in terms of honesty and competency. Buying (and sometimes servicing) a vehicle can be a very stressful experience, but it doesn't have to be if you find the right dealership. Hats off to Genthe. read more

I recently purchased a car from the Dick Genthe used car lot. I wanted to change the rims so I inquired with the parts department about purchasing a set. Karen checked on manufacturers pricing and it was very high. I was hesitant to spend alot and told her I was going to check around for a used set. When she found out I would accept a used set, she set out on a mission to help me. She found part of a take-off set that was in excellent condition and then searched around and found the 4th rim from a refurbish shop that she had a good relationship with. In my opinion she went above and beyond what I would have expected and found me a great set of used rims for about 40% of the cost of a new set. Great job Karen! Barry the used car salesman also did a great job taking care of us. He sold us a car at a good price and then supplied the missing floor mats, owners manual, and 2nd key, for no additional cost. Would definitely go back to Dick Genthe and I would recommend them to our family and friends. read more
