My awesome uber driver recommended Diba for the best Persian food in the area, and the biggest selling point was the tahdig situation. It's the crispy-rice-crust that is cooked at the bottom of the pot, and it is normally what you either fight over or offer to others when you're trying to be polite! Most restaurants only serve it if they have it, first come, first serve. At Diba, every portion of rice comes with tahdig which is absolutely genius.
The location is outside of Montreal's downtown area, not too far. The restaurant was clean, bright and service was friendly and accommodating.
Food was great. Koobideh, chicken kabob, barg, yogurt, salad shirazi, they brought out a lovely bubbly/cracker bread as a starter with dip and greens, and we ended the meal with chai and cream puffs topped with pistachios. Everything was top notch and felt home-y.
Highly recommended. Also, if you're new to Persian food, please note that the portions are massive. If anyone tries their lamb, let me know how it was, I was eyeing that on their menu too. read more
