Mundelein Tire & Service - Waiting area

Mundelein Tire & Service

I'm relatively new to the Mundelein area, and I can not tell you how much relief it is to find your…read more'place.' My wife's 2018 VW Passat was burning about 5qts of oil every thousand miles, and only warm air blew on the driver's side of her vehicle. The entire time we have owned this car, it has only been serviced at VW dealerships. When she got her last oil change at VW, I asked about the high oil consumption, and the answer I received was that the car just does that now. It's old, so it will burn more oil. If VW is telling me this, I could not help but accept this as fact. With the weather turning cold, I brought her car to somewhere closer to home to address the heating issue. I selected Mundelein Tire and Service via Yelp based on the reviews and proximity. I explained the problems and dropped the car off at 8 a.m. I dealt with Steve, who was very personable, professional, and an excellent communicator. When I picked up my vehicle at 4 p.m. the same day, I spoke with Steve and talked to the mechanic who worked on my car. I was treated with a show and tell of the parts removed from my car and immediately felt I brought my vehicle to the right place. The excessive oil consumption issue was addressed by replacing a faulty PCV valve/oil separator. My spark plugs were also coated in oil due to the faulty PCV valve. The passenger side temperature control actuator that directs the airflow on the passenger side was completely seized. When I received my car, I was shocked by the immediate difference in how it drove. We had been driving with diminished power for so long that we had just gotten used to the lack of acceleration. The day before I brought the vehicle in, I had added 5 quarts of oil. Instead of charging me for an oil change, Steve suggested I just change the oil filter. Overall, my car is driving like new again, and the cabin is nice and toasty inside. I received a greatly appreciated discount on the labor due to my military service. I have found where I will bring my vehicle for all my repairs and maintenance needs. Thank you again to Steve and the team; you've earned my appreciation and business for the foreseeable future.

I needed to get an oil change and the prices are decent here while the service is pretty good so I knew I wouldn't go anywhere else. While changing my oil, Dan and the tech, Nikolai, were able to find some other issues including my brakes, egr valve gasket and camshaft plug. They were honest with me regarding what they found and gave me a decent price without tryin to run me up which I appreciated. Overall, they did a great job with my car and they didn't try to push unnecessary work to be done on my car. I will continue to use them and I would highly recommend everyone else to as well. Shoutout to Nikolai and Dan--thanks for taking care of my car.

Jiffy Lube is known for ONE THING...OIL CHANGES! How can they screw that up by putting TOO MUCH…read moreIN!!!! Then they don't back up the quality of their service after they completely screw up and now I am out approximately $700!!! I took my car in to this Jiffy Lube for a quick oil change. 5 days later on Mother's Day my car completely shut down on the way to dinner. Thankfully we were right near a gas station with a tow company attached. We had it set up to tow to the Ford dealer 10 mins away the next morning. After the Ford technician examined my vehicle he concluded that the oil was over the fill line and that was what caused the problem. I called Jiffy Lube to inform them of what had happened and that they need to reimburse me for the charges. They claimed that I should have brought it back to them as soon as there was a problem with the car. 1. How was I supposed to know that the reason that engine completely stopped working was due to the oil change 5 days earlier? 2. Why would I take my car to Jiffy Lube for engine work anyway? 3. Was I supposed to ask Ford to put the oil back in the car and then have it towed to Jiffy Lube next? I have reported them to the BBB and they never responded to that complaint. Next, I will be sending a demand letter and threatening taking them to small claims court.
