If you are even *considering* going the cloth diaper route for your baby, then this place should be on your must-visit list. In addition to the FREE cloth diapering workshops that they hold (check out their website for dates and times and you can sign up through there too), they also have classes on "baby wearing" (i.e. slings, carriers, wraps, etc.).
I attending a cloth diapering workshop and it was wondering. It was an hour and a half long, but the time flew by. Most of the time was spent discussing the different types of cloth diapers, and they passed around the different kinds of diapers so you could play with them, see how they worked, etc. I had done a lot of research online beforehand, so I had already pretty much decided which way I wanted to go, but for someone who knows nothing about cloth diapering, they are an incredibly useful resource. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and can answer just about any questions you have. During the workshop, they tell you the benefits as well as the cons of cloth diapering. They are honest about the work and cost involved, but they are passionate about it (not in a crazy-environmentalist-in-your-face passionate way though). In addition to being knowledgeable, the staff is also incredibly friendly. They will answer any questions that you have, and though they will recommend a product if you want, they never try and push a brand or cloth diapering style on you. They give you options, ask you lifestyle questions, and then may make a suggestion.
The second part of the workshop is about laundering and taking care of your cloth diapers. They also sell products for that as well, and they made the whole process seem a lot easier than it probably appears at first.
The classes are small -- they are limited to about 15 people I believe. And, when you attend, you also get a coupon for $10 off a purchase of $100 or more. I know that seems like a lot to spend, but it will cost $100+ to get a starter set of diapers, regardless of which route you decide to go. So, that $10 will help out a little.
In addition to the helpful workshops, the store is really cute and sells pretty much everything you need for cloth diapering. Regardless of which route you decide to go (prefolds with covers, fitteds, all-in-ones, all-in-twos, etc.), they have an ample stock of product. They also sell cloth wipes, baby carriers, diaper pail liners, Snappis, etc. Although I will admit that their prices are a tad steep (I was able to get all of my cloth diapering supplies online at cheaper prices), I can understand why, given the shortage of cloth diapering resources in the area. And, they are by far cheaper than a diaper service!
As mentioned in other reviews, they have a "try it out" system too. However, the price seems to have gone up to $35 for two weeks. You get prefolds, covers, and a diaper pail for a two-week trial period, and you can decide after that time if you want to keep the set or return it. The back of the store also has some "gently used" items for sale that are at a reduced priced. These must be the returned items for those who decide not to cloth diaper, because though everything does look slightly used, most are still relatively brand new. So, if you want to save a few bucks, that would be a good route to go. read more
