Awesome spot! After a grocery store run next door at La Michoacána, my sister recommended we stop by Diamonds for a sweet treat. This place is massive! I really dug the purple decor and all the Mexican art. In addition to an incredible selection of ice cream in legit Mexican flavors, they offered paleta popsicles, aguas frescas, and snacks like elote. We shared a strawberry horchata which was absolutely delicious. Very refreshing and not overly sweet. What a fun shop! I have been here twice, and have received great service both times! This last time, we had a large group and the staff were so very accommodating to the several ice cream samples. This place has it all!... ice-cream, ice pops, food, bottled drinks, and candy. The flavors are fresh, and original. Takes me back to the streets of Mexico! Pretty cool experience at Diamond's last night! I've always heard good things, so after dinner, we headed over for a birthday treat. It's a pretty decent sized ice cream shop with ice cream, paletas, and a lot of other options that I couldn't quite follow, which leads to my only real complaint - it was really hard to tell what you were looking at, or what was on offer. First case contained some cake selections. There was for sure a tres leches, and a couple of other fruit topped options, and then a snack counter that did some variations on hot cheetoes and elote. Then was the frozen dessert counter. I don't know what was in the first case, it looked like a granita, maybe? Followed by ice cream in some great looking flavors - passion fruit, guava, corn.... and then the paletas. We ordered some milkshake kind of delights, with fruit and topped with tons of whipped cream, but the price and description didn't match the menu, so my friend just pointed and said I'd like that one and she would like the strawberry kind, please. I'm sure the staff would have walked us through, but it was within an hour of closing and we were a large group, so I didn't ask too much. it took about 10 minutes to make the shakes, and I was not expecting mine to be topped with a slice of cheese cake. I asked the lady at the counter for a box and she grabbed a box and a glove and boxed that up for later for me! The shake was really good! It was not as thick and heavy as a traditional style milkshake and had a great strawberry flavor! Overall, we had a fun experience and I'd love to go back for the paletas! read more

One of my favorite places for a treat. Diamonds has an array of handcrafted Mexican ice creams. Traditional flavors like piñon, mamey, or rompompe are always available, but they also have super yummy flavors they rotate in line leche quemada (burnt milk) or fruit-forward sorbets. Don't forget their Aguas Frescas. My favorite is their Jamaica, but their Horchata is top-notch too. They also have a variety of Vaso de Frutas at their second counter where you can get mango slices topped with lime juice, chamoy, and Tajiín. This is my favorite menu item of all! I've visited Diamonds twice, once I had a mangonada and the second time I had a strawberries and cream paleta. The mangonada had nice fresh fruit, flavorful sorbet, and a nice spice from the tajin. There are so many paletas to choose from, but for my first one I went with something I knew I'd like. The texture was really nice and creamy with the fruity zing from the strawberry. This is seriously good authentic Mexican treats. In this area of Columbus there's a lot of ethnic businesses. It has quite a lot of Hispanic restaurants and shops to serve the huge population. The plaza at the corner of Bethel and Sawmill features a Hispanic market and the Taco Loco restaurant. In comes this concept new to the city. These are the popular dessert item called paletas . It's basically like a popsicle with real fruit. The paletas are either made with milk or water. It's about $2 for each. There's also fresh cut fruit, ice cream, and smoothies. I like going to Diamond's on a hot day and getting some great cool treats. It may be hard making a choice. The products care all good no matter how weird it sounds so you won't go wrong. read more

Walking into Diamonds for the first time was like walking into an alternate universe for me. Mariachi music on blast, in-your-face purple paint and adorably uniformed employees. The place feels distinctly ethnic and I mean that in a good way. They offer all sorts of Mexican goodies such as Mexican ice cream, flavored horchatas and of course their paletas. I sampled their strawberry horchata and cactus pear ice cream. Both were great. Bryant suggested the strawberries and cream paleta. Definitely a great recommendation. As opposed to the American popsicles that are either too icy hard or too soft, these paletas are the perfect compromise with great consistency. My paleta was packed with chunks of fruit. It was also smooth, creamy and full of flavor. I wanted to take a box home with me, but somehow managed to resist. They also have literally 30+ flavors. You guys I finally got to try this place after all this time! I got my husband to agree to come in because he thought it was a strip club every time I was talking about it. How does strip club have anything to do with paleta or ice cream? (He must be thinking of the Diamonds in Dayton, which is a whole other place just not in this city.) What I loved coming in is that you can try almost all the flavors of the different ice creams there. I liked the caramel one at first since that was the very first one we tried, but since I had already eaten a little bad before I came in I decided to go a tad bit healthier and go with a lower in fat kiwi sorbet. To my surprise it wasn't bad at all. Next time I definitely want to try the popsicles they look divine! Especially the strawberries and cream, it reminds me of the same thing I had in the past as a little girl back in my home country. Although this was the Mexican version of it. All the treats here look so good and I was so happy my husband was willing to try something new. And I'm not just talking flavors, but types of ice cream goodness! Ice cream, Popsicles, milk shakes, plus food snacks (like the corn on the cob with cheese and spices). 2. Easily a couple dozen ice cream flavors and you won't find them elsewhere. You have your fruity options like mango or strawberry with cream, and standard options like cookies and cream, and then it gets a bit different with choices like chocolate with marshmallows (like the Lucky Charms kind) and then many quintessential Mexican flavors. 3. Dozens of Popsicles. Mango with chili is one popular option but there are SO many (check out the photos) and many of them are very Mexican-centered flavors. 4. Mexican candy! Lots of choices. Your popular and more common in the Midwest times like the mango with chili suckers but a lot more. 5. Music. When we walked in it was a lot of bachata (great on a Saturday night!) and they switched to ranchero by the time we left. 6. It was fairly busy on a Saturday night but they had a lot of workers. 7. Clean and well-lit inside. I've seen skeptical comments because a strip club is nearby and an adult entertainment store is a couple stores down in the strip mall, but it's fine. It's also across from Carriage Place, so come here before/after a movie. 8. Portions! "One scoop" of ice cream is $2.98 but was really two big scoops. I couldn't finish it. 9. Taste: very good. I enjoyed my strawberries and cream but sampled others. The mango ice cream legit tastes like mango. 10. Ingredients: a lot of fresh ingredients. Real fruit is used. For the coconut ice cream there is coconut in there...its just real darn good. read more

Love the vast selection of popcicles (so creative in their combinations), drinks, and ice creams. I decided on the cactus pineapple drink and watermelon popcicle. It was good to but not as good as the ice cream based ones. I was surprised to see that also had a ton of regular ice cream as well as some other Mexican specialties like flan and candy.
