I went with a different place at first because it was closer to where we were living. Well, that turned out to be a mistake. I ended up having a bad experience there and finally switched to S&L. Dr. Ngo and his team fixed everything the other dentist had messed up. Right away I knew my wife had been right all along. I've been going to S&L for four years now and they really are the best dental office I've ever been to. Dr. Ngo has removed all my old metal fillings and replaced them with modern ones, plus he's done a couple of crowns for me. Everything looks and feels great. My wife has also been extremely happy with all the work he's done for her too. I'm almost 55 and I've seen a bunch of top-rated, highly recommended dentists over the years, both here in the US and a couple in Mexico. Nothing else comes close. One thing I have to mention is how good Dr. Ngo is with people who hate dental visits or get nervous about pain. His work is excellent, but it's the way he takes care of you that makes the biggest difference. For example, the way he does Novocaine shots is unbelievable. You barely feel it at all. Every dentist out there should learn his technique. With all that said, I do think the front office experience could be better. If the customer service up front matched Dr. David's clearly caring vibe, it would be 100% perfect. If you're looking for a truly professional dentist who gives five-star care and service, this is the place. Dr. David Ngo at S&L is the only one I would recommend without any hesitation.

I chose this dentist because of all the amazing reviews, and so I thought I'd detail my experience…read morebecause it wasn't as perfect as the reviews make it seem. They seem very knowledgable and seem to know what they're doing when it comes to dentistry, but my concerns are more in the administration side of things. I changed jobs earlier this year and got new insurance with a common major insurance provider, and I needed to get a procedure done. I asked them what the procedure would cost and they gave me a quote, which was already expensive, and I paid that at the time of service. However, when I came in for a routine cleaning 6 months later, they said the insurance "didn't pay as much as they thought" and stuck me with MORE THAN DOUBLE their original quote. I looked into the insurance claim and called the insurance company myself, and the insurance company paid exactly what was according to their billing schedule. There were no surprises. I think the office knew (or should have known, because they're the professionals and this is what they do) that this would happen, and they dishonestly gave me a lower quote, did the service, and then stuck me with the even more expensive bill (but to their credit, they did give me a lower price than what they billed to insurance, but it was still VERY expensive that I was not prepared for). Additionally, I distinctly recall the procedure treated four teeth, but then on the bill and insurance claim, they say they treated six. Unfortunately, I don't really know how to argue this, especially because it happened so long ago. I suspect they didn't contact me about this issue earlier for this exact reason. Again, dishonest. Another concern with this dentist is that it's unprofessional that they use Zelle to get around credit/debit card transaction fees. Every merchant has to deal with card transaction fees, they shouldn't be up-charging that cost and they shouldn't be using Zelle, which is supposed to just be a peer-to-peer payment network. Lastly, as much as I love dogs, I don't think it's hygienic that they keep a dog in their office. In all, I started off loving this dentist, and very disappointed that they turned out to be this unprofessional and dishonest. I'm sad I'll have to go elsewhere from now on.

I have to say that after all these decades to see what my slightly crooked teeth on the lower jaw turned out to be along with how much easier flossing is with everything aligned, is nothing short of remarkable for me. It was an easy process and the team at AWFD was terrific every step of the way. If I can do this at 62, you can, too! I was initially impressed by Dr. Rao's genial chairside manner and accepted the somewhat seedy…read morelocation and thrift store decor as a sign of a "discount" pricing policy. The price was actually average but the dental work and followup were extremely problematic. The following is my email regarding the problems following my temporary crowns. I later discovered the website email address was not operational. Message to Dr. Rao, I left a message this morning (Saturday October 21) regarding my discomfort and problem with my temporary crowns. I assumed you would have an emergency number to reach you even though your office is closed. (It's very unusual for a medical/dental professional to have no after hours contact information). I had my temporary crowns done on October 11 and paid for them and the permanent crowns in advance as you requested. This has not been my usual payment experience. I returned on October 18 to have the temporary crowns smoothed as my tongue was irritated and had developed ulcers from the rough texture. Your assistant did most of the work. I started to explain to you how my bite was now off and my mouth felt out of alignment. You didn't appear to be concerned and no effort was made to rectify this situation. Observing my bite, it's apparent that the temporary crowns on the lower right side are higher, wider and unevenly matched to the bottom teeth on the left side. I have researched and discovered that temporary crowns should be adjusted so that the patient's bite is comfortable or if necessary, redone. I haven't been able to eat solid food for the past 10 days and my tongue is still irritated by the rough texture of the crowns. I'm very concerned that my permanent crowns will also be a poor fit. I need to have the temporary crowns adjusted to be the same height and similar width as the teeth on the other side of my mouth so that I am able to chew comfortably. I am unable to chew properly on the left side since I am missing a top tooth. My permanent crowns appointment isn't till November 8. I would appreciate having this dental problem corrected as soon as possible. Dr. Rao responded on Monday to the phone message I left on Saturday concerning my distress. He was apologetic and had me return again for another adjustment. He works on several patients at the same time and at one point needed to be reminded what we were working on. The permanent crowns were finally applied and the numbing needle was incredibly painful. My lips were horribly swollen for days as the extreme numbing lasted for hours and made me unaware that I was chewing on my lips, when eating. Finally the crowns were done and I was able to chew comfortably. The next problem was reimbursement from my Medicare insurance. Dr. Rao had said initially that as a courtesy he would fill out the paperwork. He sent a pre-approval but neglected to follow up with a completed and signed itemized bill. It's been almost 3 months and after hours of conversations with United Healthcare, I received a statement showing a $1000 reimbursement allowed. The paperwork included a signature required by the dentist and his filling out a form. I emailed the paperwork to his office and I spoke with his office representative Anna, who advised me not to pursue the payment because that would delay my getting reimbursement (?) She advised me to wait a few more weeks and said Dr. Rao was informed about this situation. I've had a lot of dental work done by different dentists over the years but this has been an unusually frustrating experience.

Taylor completely put those worries to rest and made me feel welcomed and comfortable throughout my visit. Dr. Dena Khoury Myers was exceptional as well. She took the time to explain my treatment options and even recommended alternative treatments, including peptides, to help prevent cavities. I absolutely love that Pearl Dental is a family owned and operated office. Everyone made me feel genuinely cared for, and I never felt like I was being pressured or overcharged for treatment. I expressed that concern because I wanted to understand what was necessary and how the dentist would determine what tooth structure needed to be removed. Unfortunately, the interaction left me feeling uncomfortable asking questions and uncertain about why the preparation needed to be enlarged. In retrospect, I recognize that my questions may have come across as questioning the dentist's competence, and that was never my intention. I was an anxious patient trying to understand an irreversible procedure. I can accept that my concerns may not have come across exactly as I intended, but I also believe patients should be able to express anxiety and ask questions without being made to feel that they have challenged their provider's credibility. What I want from a dental office is straightforward: clear explanations, respectful communication, and the feeling that I can be an active participant in my own care. Instead, I left feeling less comfortable and less reassured than when I arrived. With all due respect, I won't be back.

This is not the dentist for you if you are a basic patient that doesn't have serious dental issues or need cosmetic surgery or appliances. They don't take care of you or treat you if you aren't making money . The only bright spot is the front desk and the hygienists who are excellent despite the dentists being inattentive and uncaring. I switched to this dentist (Dr Bri) several years ago after moving here and having a multi year relationship with my prior dentist. While Dr Bri was fine at the beginning, everything became progressively worse over time. This office is a money making machine that only cares about selling you cosmetic dentistry and services you don't need. They did this to me and my kids, each of us getting separately estimates for 20k of cosmetic work every time you go in for a tooth cleaning. Another friend left the practice after having the same experience. I stayed on bc I felt it was fine to say no to cosmetic work but ultimately was relegated to worse and worse service. Several times, and maybe all of the last four visits, I had to ASK to see the actual dentist. They tried to send me on my way after the hygienist cleaning. I was asked if I had a particular issue and said- no I just think the dentist should look at your teeth during a dental exam. Terrible customer service. Worse, last time I was there, they had someone who I don't think had ever seen a tooth doing flossing and other basic work (it wasn't the hygienist). She kept skipping teeth and had no clue what she was doing. It was almost like a joke. Then when I asked to see the dentist, I found out she wasn't even there that day. Why even schedule me for an appointment? It was ridiculous and the final straw. Side note: They also refused to send X-rays to my oral surgeon bc I wouldn't sign up with their surgeon who wasn't covered by my insurance. My surgeon had to take new X-rays. What a racket. Again The only reason for not giving one star are the front desk and hygienists who are excellent. I consider the dentist a long term and personal relationship. I went to this office for years and had absolutely no relationship with Dr Bri. The customer service is poor unless you need major work done. Find another office if you are just an ordinary person with good teeth that need to be cleaned.
