It is very difficult for me to write a negative review for Diamond Veterinary Hospital, but I feel that I really need to. We have been taking our two dogs there for health care for a number of years. Both of the dogs have serious health issues, and up until this recent episode, I had been very satisfied with their care. Diamond has always been very helpful when I needed something like a prescription refill. On Friday, February 12, I called because one of our beloved Dachshunds was in extremely bad shape, and was obviously dying. I called Diamond to make an appointment for euthanasia, and after identifying myself, was told that they didn't have time to deal with my issue. They would not make an appointment for euthanasia, and they gave me the phone numbers of some other vets who they said might do it for me. I called a couple, and our dog ended up dying at home two days later. I am so displeased with their callous attitude when our dog was in need of their services that I will be going to a different vet from now on. Needless to say, it was an extremely painful experience. read more

I am truly saddened to have to write this for what was once an outstanding veterinary facility . We have been bringing our dogs here for over 30 yrs and always had top notch care. Dr Hanna was the best. It is now impossible to get an appointment- I called yesterday and was told mid September! If you have an emergency maybe you can access the the after hours ER clinic for a steep price but if you want to have your pet seen in a timely matter for a perhaps minor concern or lab work it won't happen. It's obvious they have WAY too many patients in their practice and need to stop taking new animals until they can treat them in a safe and relatively quick time line. They are sacrificing care for volume and the results are sad and disappointing. read more

I don't recommend Diamond hospital!!! It's Bunch of crooks and laymen!! American vet mafia!! My situation is, day ago, we brought our cat to this hospital. Our cat needs in grooming + sedation, blood test, urine test. Our appointment was at 9 am, but cat procedure we're starting at 12 ... we are waiting for her 4 hours, I think I could die of worrying ! When we called to hospital and interested, if the cat is ok? their answer was : your can in process..." After long hours waiting, doctor called to my husband and described what they have done. Two days my cat recovered from the sedation... it's horrible!! They are promised that sedation was light .. but I am sure , sedation was very deep. My conclusion: Appointment time weren't complied with !! Rude, unprofessional staff! Especially on reception! Very old equipment at hospital! The most expensive hospital in dc ! Awful prices which don't much the service! After the visit they provided only bill with amount 1100 dollars!!! No copies with analysis, nothing!!!!! I called today, and kindly asked send me copies of analysis on my email, BUT, answer was No, we don't send it! Come to hospital and pick up!! It's my first and last the worst experience with them. My brother took his dog here a couple nights ago. She was in labor but the puppies were coming 5 hours apart with a lot of blackish blood coming out of her while she could barely move. When they got there, she gave birth the 3rd puppy so Diamond sent them all home to "start the process over". When they got home, her 2nd uterus broke and the last 5 puppies died. They took her to Pilchuck who had to do 2 surgeries. One to take out the dead puppies and another to take out both uteruses and clean for infection. She is on antibiotics and pain meds so she can not feed her puppies and she has an IV bag attached to her. As far as I am concerned, Diamond killed her 5 puppies and almost killed her. Luckily Pilchuck acted fast enough to save her life. My brother and family are devastated and I am at a loss as to how a veterinary clinic could act like this. read more

Just updating - I called Diamond the morning after the ER incident and left a very pleasant voicemail for the practice manager, Angie. I never received a response. Then Diamond responded to my Yelp review and asked me to call. I did. Again I was told Angie was not in and put through to her voicemail. Again I left a message. To date, no response. Shame on you Diamond Veterinary! Pets lives are on the line when people come for emergency service. Your night receptionist is rude and unconcerned and obviously in the wrong field. read more

Diamond Vet is negligent and unresponsive. I brought my beloved dog to Diamond after my primary vet stated my dog was hypothermic. I provided the detailed care plan with recently started medication list to Diamond. Diamond had my dog for 3 hours before their vet called and basically asked why we even brought him in because he was "stable and his temp was not that low". When I went to pick him up he could barely even walk to the car and his eyes were swollen to the point that I could not see them. He was in worse shape then when I brought him! The next day I took him to another more reputable vet and they said it was obvious he was having an allergic reaction to the medication he was recently put on. Within hours he was dead. Since then I've asked for a call from the leadership of Diamond multiple times. I was told someone would call to discuss this and have not received any calls. I called multiple times to request the visit report before it was provided. When received it was written as if we opted to take him home but actually the vet techs and vet advised that was best. Even the report had him listed as "stable" and his eyes as "normal". Please, if you care about your pet, avoid this clinic. EDIT: Quick read: Veterinarian admitted to saying "I don't know why you brought your dog here in the first place." She also admitted to not telling me I had the option of keeping my dog at the clinic for further care. They falsified the exit report (report said I was given the option to take him home or have him stay.) I was given a full refund of my visit. They apologized and told me they would be working towards better communication and care. Long read: The manager of the clinic eventually called me back. Took a lot of me calling to finally get a response. I told her what the vet told me and asked her if she could please listen to the recorded phone calls so she could coach her veterinarian on how she can improve her care. My biggest concern was that the vet told me "I don't know why you brought your dog here in the first place." I brought my dog in because he wasn't eating, could barely walk, and the regular vet I took him to that morning told me he was hypothermic and needed emergency attention ASAP. Not only was it insensitive for her to say that, but it was incredibly reckless. The manager told me that she didn't think her vet would say that, but she would talk to her and try to find the recordings. Turns out they only record incoming calls so she never found the phone call. However, she did talk to the vet and she admitted to saying that to me. She also admitted that she never gave us the option to keep him at the clinic for further care. This leads to the conclusion that they falsified the exit report. The report stated that we were informed that we could keep him at the clinic for further care and monitoring. The manager called me back, apologized, and gave me a refund for our visit. Unfortunately, the refund will not bring back my dog or make up for the pain my dog was in while he wasn't receiving proper care. read more

I will not take your furbaby here if your baby was having seizures. Mine was diagnosed at first with epilepsy, my baby never had epilepsy and it turned out I had to do a transfer of care , thousands of dollars later and he had meningitis. My baby boy did not make it. Please do not take your baby here if they have seizures. Their reasoning was that their not a specialty and my fur baby case was specifically hard. and needs a neurologist. Ok , but why wait almost 2 days to tell me that? After I picked him up myself and his condition has worsened significantly. On Christmas Eve around 2 pm I had to call for an update on how he was doing. I was asked to call to see which pharmacy was open and asked if I can pick up the prescription and take it to that pharmacy to be filled. This is one of his anti seizure medications. After calling around I called to notify them. Wait some more and until the very last minute. They sounded put out that I asked for the medication to be called in instead of picking it up myself. I do not live around the corner from them, I only have an hour by this point and the pharmacy will be closed. This could not have been notified to me earlier? It was handled very poorly . When I finally was able to pick my baby up, his condition has worsens significantly. His tremors, seizures was worst which he ended up passing away at another hospital a couple of days later. On the way out the door, after I already settled the bill in the car. As I was holding my seizing son in my arms about to get all out and later do a transfer of care, I was stopped to make sure that there's no more money owed. A little compassion goes a long way. Sometimes this thing can wait and I could have been notified by phone later. By the way , I did not owe any money. Extremely devastating experience and I wished I had known where to go. I do not want anyone else to make the same mistake as I did and ended up losing their best friend and family member. read more

My dog was panting heavily and in pain..they took him in for 30 seconds and deemed him stable when he was clearly not. They are not in this for pet care but for the almighty $$$. I will NEVER take my dog here again. Took him.to another emergency vet and they saw him immediately. read more

Called Diamond in the middle of the night as my pup, who was diagnosed with pancreatitis, was not doing well. Chris, who answered the phone,was very patient, informative and caring. He was able to give me some critical information and advice. Great customer service! Side Note: All of the vets (both Emergency and non emergency) in the area seem to be at, or near to, full capacity (maybe due to so many Covid-fur babie-adoptions). This is the first review I have ever written, that's how upset I am. We brought our dog in for blood work & a nail trim. After waiting 4 days & not hearing anything back regarding the results of the bloodwork, we called just to find out no bloodwork was ever done. When we asked why not, they said he was being difficult. Why were we not told nothing was done at the time of the appointment? Nails weren't done either. The exam sure was done, so they say. We wouldn't know because they aren't letting the owners come in to comfort their anxious pets. Our dog was in there for quite awhile & was returned to us panting hard. I'm sure he was scared not recognizing anyone & hopefully not being mishandled. No future appointment was set up either so we could hopefully find out what is going on with our beloved pet. I have no complaints against the staff other than not letting us know what was going on. I called around & found multiple vets that are back to pre covid days where the owners are allowed to accompany their pets. Maybe it's time to let at least 1 person in with their pet, we can wear masks! You lost 2 clients due to your unwillingness to change the rules. read more

So where do I start? My cat was gone from my home and she's an indoor cat! She's 18 and I thought that maybe she crawled up under a couch to die (sometimes animals hide/ runoff when they are ready to pass) I called some friends that were kind enough to be there for me and turn up my furniture to find my Princess (her name is actually Sadie) and no sadie! My cat is gone! I'm frantic!! She either jumped or fell off my balcony! So as I am in tears and searching my neighborhood, I ironically stumbled upon the nice lady that found her and had her sent to Diamond. I called and they told me I would have to verify it was my cat via email. So I sent a photo and called them immediately and they said "yes, it's your ca, fill out the consent form right away". So I did. I called back and they said "you have to come here" which I did, but with COVID, who knows what the protocol was going to be, because the other person just told me to fill the consent form out and they would finally release info ?!?! So as I'm a nervous-wreck and I make my way there and call, they tell me my cat has to wait 6 more hours to be seen by a vet! And the girl on the other line said "if she wasn't brought here sooner, it would be even a longer wait" OMG!!!! They brought her out to me and I called several vets and Pilchuck got her in RIGHT away and did not agree with their (Diamond) wait times either! Also, I had already called the pound (before I verified where my cat was) and they had a person, (from the pound) on the way to pick my cat up! I called and told them it was my cat and I was on my way. Diamond wouldn't even tell me that my cat was okay! All they said was "she's stable" OMG! My cat is 18 and needs to be seen right away is all I was thinking! My cat is home and on pain meds. No broken bones; she is just really sore! This place made a really horrible experience even worse! Pilchuck is a caring facility and they were just as packed as Diamond!!! Stay away at all costs! read more

I'd had decent service here for the last 15 years and spent countless thousands on care for my pets. Trying to get a simple nail trim recently before going in vacation only be told at least 3 weeks. Obviously loyalty and being frequent repeat customer accounts for nothing. They've also gotten very expensive with everything. We are looking around for quality care that doesn't cost an arm and a leg and that can help you in a reasonable amount of time. It's sad. I used to drive from Marysville for pet care here. No longer. I felt unheard by the doctor. I knew something was wrong like an infection. The doctor insisted that the swelling was injury even though I said multiple times that the dog had been watched and sedated since his surgery (two days prior ) and injury was not possible. They still insisted that an X-ray was the way to go. As I expected nothing showed on the X-ray and they send us home with instructions to call a specialist for more imaging. Morning comes and I had to rush my dog to his regular vet because of obvious infection!! I am so upset that I trusted the doctor when my gut told me they were wrong. read more

My lab puppy ate chocolate chip cookies that were individually Saran wrapped. They were very kind on the phone and let me know estimated costs and options before I came in. No one is allowed in due to covid but when we got there they were very quick to come out and get him. They were able to induce vomiting and retrieve the Saran Wrap and some of the cookies. Cost for all care was under $300 which I think is very good for an emergency middle of the night visit. Very thankful to have them when we needed them. read more

Front office staff is extremely nice and welcoming. As far as everything else goes the rooms are dirty and my last apt I wasn't seen until 40 min after the schedule time which I didn't want to complain because it was a courtesy office visit since my previous apt my dog wasn't given proper attention because they were busy.. From there it went all down hill and eventually put my dog into surgery when turns out there was no blockage as I was told prior to surgery and it was a dietary issue where I literally just changed my dogs kibble. This place used to be great but now I feel as though the vets aren't held accountable for their actions and many others I have talked to have had similar over priced extremely misdiagnosed visits. They also decided that I should go to another vet due to very exaggerated disagreements with the one of 4 different vets or assistants I dealt with. So after a couple thousand dollars and a lot of drama my puppy had to go through "exploratory surgery" and the healing process only to find that she needs digestive powder with her food. Thank you to frontier village in lake Stevens for always fixing the issues immediately! They are worth every dollar. read more

My 100 lb. lab german shepherd King is loud and is scared to go to the doctor. He hates being muzzled for even five minutes. He's stubborn and also completely lovable and gentle. I brought my lab mix to the ER at Diamond because he had abdominal pain and was lethargic with pale gums. The vet performed an exam - he palpated the area and said that while my dog yelped he didn't actually seem to be in pain. He released him to me and said that while he couldn't guarantee he was fine there was nothing wrong. I left believing that he was just gassy or constipated and the whole thing was me being too cautious about my beloved pet. What the vet missed was a large cancerous tumor in his abdomen. I only learned this after I took him to another vet clinic last night because he would no longer move. The vet was able to immediately recognize the tumor and verified it with an ultrasound. The tumor had ruptured and my dog had no option left but euthanasia. I can't recommend this clinic after my experience. The vet palpated the tumor and didn't recognize it for what it was. No ultrasound was done or offered. I wish I knew then that an ultrasound was an option. I could have pursued treatment options or at least spent the last few days with my dog knowing that he was approaching the end. Instead I had more days of worrying endlessly about his ups and downs until finally the tumor ruptured and it was too late. I did reach out to Diamond to let them know about my experience -that my dog passed away and that it was because of a ruptured tumor that wasn't identified at their office. While no one can change the past I can at least hope that in the future abdominal pain in the pets that go to the ER will be examined more thoroughly. read more

I called to get my puppy neutered. Time was a big issue because my apartment complex required it in addition to my wanting him to get it done. Diamond said they could get him in but he would first need to come in for a physical exam for $70 and if it goes well they can schedule the surgery. I had been calling several places to inquire on the cost so I did ask Diamond what the surgery would run and they said between $400-500 which is high compared to the research I found but given the urgency, I agreed to come in. I took him in for the physical depsite the fact he had just been checked 2 weeks prior by another clinic. Diamond called me to say my puppy was healthy and they could schedule the surgery, so we set up a time. I asked again what the cost would be and they gave me a written estimate of $1200.00. I was seriously angry because I was not about to pay that and they conned me into coming in for a mandatory physical which cost me $70 which was not a total waste of my money and time. I told them if they had accuratly quoted me the $1200 on the phone I never would have wasted my time. In addition I could not move him into my apartment until this surgery was done. The receptionist, who was very nice took the brunt of my anger towards the clinic but did provide me with a list of other clinics I could try. I was able to get him into another clinic in Everett who did the proceedure for about $400. They were very professional and were very honest about the cost before I brought my puppy in. I would never go back to Diamond or advise anybody to go there. I live in Everett and was looking for a permanent clinic for my puppy. Diamond is not it. What a rip off. I will certainly share my experience when I can on both clinics. read more

As I stated before in my last post diamond veterinarian is a money pit I had a cat that had a small cyst on his stomach from a cat fight we're assuming took our cat in to see what it was. Walked out of there the next day $700 bill to have a cyst drained and with the reply of your coworker or whoever does your yelp replies I am certainly glad and overwhelmed with happiness you took me off your clients list I will never give you one penny again read more

Please avoid this vet at all costs. They misdiagnosed our dog and told us to put him down because he would never be able to function normally after his "stroke." We got second opinions from two other vets who said he never had a stroke and he had a slipped disc. If we had listened to the vet clinic, we would have given up over something manageable. Shame on them for going to that option so quickly, without an X-ray!! They still charged us multiple times for literally just poor advice. They never even administered any medical attention. The second run-in with them was because we had no other choice and they charged us a full exam fee at emergency prices before doing any exam. Come to find out, they just recommended have him taped up, but still charged us over 100$ for no exam and only four minutes spent putting tape on myself. read more

This review is NOT about the Doctor we saw, she was sweet and caring. The 1 star is for the receptionist that was rude , uncaring, emotionless and plain out cold as ice. I had to bring my fur baby Charlie in after he suffered a severe stroke . Having had animals all my life I knew I had no choice but to let him go which I told the receptionist. Her reply was " So that's what you WANT to do". Then as my baby lay dying she came in with a catalog of urns . Charlie WAS STILL ALIVE and I was crying in the worst pain imaginable. I don't know how someone with zero compassion can work in a position like that dealing with grieving pet parents facing the worst moment in a pets life. We had to go to Diamond Vet for life threatening emergencies and end of life care on several occasions and were NEVER treated like this. I wanted to write this review for those who come to Yelp and Google looking at this veterinarians office to try to find a vet that cares deeply about the human connection between a pet and their owner. I woke up on Saturday, March 13 and my cat, Scout was unable to walk. This office as well as Broadway Animal Hospital we're the only two places open at the time. Upon arrival, while we were clearly distraught, the curlyhaired receptionist informs us before we even say anything about our cat that the examination fee is $110 and anything after that will need to be paid same day as well. We go back to the examination room and they take our cat to do triage. The curlyhaired receptionist then comes into the exam room after 30 minutes or so and proceeds to try to get me and my partner to apply for pet care credit cards and a loan to get our cat taken care of before we were even told what was going on! We then have the vet tech come in and explain it's going to be $600 on the low-end and $700 on the high-end just to run test to figure out what is wrong with him. The vet then comes in and explains that the test probably would have been no good anyway and that he recommends euthanasia because he's really sick. In my mind I'm immediately thinking that all this vet cares about is money! It gets worse. Upon figuring out that we were going to have to put our baby down that day the same receptionist comes into the room to bring the euthanasia forms and I'm crying hysterically asking questions and saying this is my first time and all she does is stare at me and say "yeah." She then asked for our credit cards to run the payment before the vet even came back in and talk to us again. We literally had to let our baby go while at the same time worrying about when the next person was going to come in and ask us for a check. The level of care, bedside manner, and comfort at this vet is absolutely zero. The vet comes in and pushes the medication to put him to sleep and then emoves our animals and leaves us in the room crying hysterically. Nobody comes in to check on us, ask about us, or even tell us it was OK to go! We didn't walk out of the examination room and the vets office without so much as a thank you and I'm sorry. This was the worst experience I have ever had at a veterinarians office. I would highly encourage you to pursue other veterinarian options given it would appear as if the renovation of this vets office pushes them to only give two fucks about money and not a damn about your pet. What is a traumatizing experience in and of itself was capped off in the worst way by the level of attention and care provided by this vets office. I will never return. P.S. they keep calling me and asking me to speak to Angie because they don't like my review but I've called three times now and Angie has never returned my calls and is never there. To Laura who responded below, perhaps you could actually reach out to customers rather than trying to get them on Yelp. I've contacted your office several times and Angie doesn't seem to exist. Been going here 3 years , purchasing the same RX cat food for same amount of time. Always the same price , yesterday purchased and price was raised by $19.00 , they claim price increase by manufacturer! Really checked with Chewy and same price. The only reasonable issue they are charging for their crummy remodel!! Plus someone from the office called last evening to try to make amends, and did not offer any type of compensation to make the situation better. They have lost our business. We are an existing client of Diamond. My dog is currently sick laying on the couch after being exposed to Covid. I'm a nurse in a high risk job and Covid has recently been in our home. Pets are also contracting this virus. I explained to Diamond how sick my dog is, what I his symptoms are, his exposure , and requested dexamethasone to help get him through the worst of it. I was told that I'm not a vet, and that we would need to bring him in to be evaluated-even though I was clear that I suspect he has a highly contagious virus. I was argued with, dismissed, and not helped at all. read more

Amazing experiences only with Diamond Veterinary Hospital! I have an old man Min Pin named Frankie (who literally gets treated like the rock star that he is every time he walks through the door). I went to Diamond because of an emergency- Frankie started limping badly (like yelping when he walked wrong or was touched) We went there because I googled nearest place for emergency treatment and it was right around the corner at the time. Even though it was "emergency" the vet tech and doctor at the time (don't remember their names as it was awhile ago) suggested that nothing felt broken and why don't we try rest and supplements for a few days. It worked! I kept them as my vet even though I moved away because of the amazing treatment we have gotten. Had been close to a year and my Frankie started losing weight, drinking water and urinating like crazy. Brought him in to Diamond where I met Tyler and Dr. George- my hero's. Loooong story short, Frankie is now a diabetic. Dr. George gives treatment options that fit into your budget. We unfortunately don't have the kind of money to check Frankie into the hospital and have him monitored 24/7 for days to figure out his insulin needs- it was expensive! Instead Dr. George installed a glucose sensor FOR HUMANS on Frankie. From this sensor we can monitor his glucose to get it correct from an app on my phone. Tyler has been by my side as well as Frankie's through this process. He has calmed me and talked me through it (in office as well as taking my phone calls!) as it's not easy to have to give your dog shots twice a day. He's answered my ridiculous questions with gentle humor to make me feel better about this huge change in my dog's senior years. Frankie loves them both and I adjust my appointment times to be there when they both are there since they have stood by me and my furry child. The front desk crew is also amazing- Preston, Alison and Remi. Thank you guys for your patience, caring attitude, and understanding of people who love their furry children, but aren't monetarily gifted. read more

Dr Howell and Tyler were absolutely incredible! Was able to seen in a short amount of time and they seemed very interested in Kota's symptoms, as well as, making sure they could help us. Incredibly friendly and informed. They even helped with preparing us with info/meds to keep the little guy calm on our upcoming move! If you enjoy being shamed for having to hold off on expensive procedures that aren't necessary for life, this is the place for you. My dog needs dental work. She was a rescue and it takes a minute to get a dog all in order. These people shamed my husband so hard, he cringed at having to go in and get her anal glands done. Being a barrier to care is never cool. When our other dog had emergency surgery, we were given no instructions for after care and trying to get someone on the phone was impossible so we had to take him to a different vet. I'm disappointed because my first experience was amazing. read more

My fuzzy girl ingested some sort of cleaner or motor oil. We called ahead and they told us to bring her in. When we arrived they took her back to be evaluated. The vet stated she was stable and brought her back to us. They informed us to call a poison line and get the information on what she could of ingested and how to monitor her. My 6 year old GoldenDoodle slipped a disc in her neck so I made an appointment to get X-rays and medication for 10am. Since this was our first time there I came at 9:30 to fill out paperwork and because our dog was uncomfortable. When I check in they tell me there X-ray machine is down, which would have been nice to know when i made the appointment!!! Such a waste of time. Also it's been down for TWO DAYS and another vet tech working there had no idea. The lack of communication between clients and even their own staff is concerning. We won't be back. read more

My dog infested a grape last night. I looked it up and read that grapes are very toxic. I called Pilchuck 24hr ER and was told to call a poison line which charges $60 and they would let me know if I need to take my dog in. I was dumbfounded because I didn't know why I needed to call a poison line, pay, and waste time. When I called Diamond, I was informed that this was very serious and I needed to bring her in immediately. The vet was very compassionate, informative, and was able to get the grape out almost fully intact. They saved my fur baby and was more than reasonable in the pricing ($190). I will be using this ER for all my pet emergencies. read more

Never ever bring your fur baby here. This is a horrible place. I brought my family dog here he was dying. What does this s*** hole place do. Keep me waiting outside while they take here back, finally let me go back to see her and they just put her in a cage God only knows how long they put my baby in the cage. When i went back they finally took her out and said " Well, there is 2 options we can send her home or Euthanasia her. I said she is dying won't even make it home, Being my dog was 18. So the give me a Damn button to push if there was a emergency while we were waiting forever for them to come back, my baby was having a seizure staring at me needed help there was nothing i could do but help hold her down from making it wore so i hit a emergency button and they didn't come. Finally when they decided to show up and she was as stiff as a board and passed away. I put down 4,000 dollars to try to save my baby and i feel they did didn't give a s*** about my baby. Please don't bring your Babies here. They could have al least made her passing more peaceful but instead they made her suffer as well as her humans. read more

Brought my dog in as she ate chocolate. 2am visit and everyone here was so nice. They explained everything and for emergency services 350 is pretty reasonable. They provided options and gave advise without judgement. I would bring my dog here again if needed. read more

Today my 10 year old Dane mix rescue tore her toenail off. Blood everywhere and this mama freaked out. Loaded her in the car and off we went. Doctor Hotter was so incredibly good with my girl and with me. Fixed her right away and was so kind and caring. KUDOS to you, doctor! And thank you for being so awesome with my girl! read more
