They walked me through everything, explained the gold value clearly, and even gave me the cost to replace my zirconias with diamonds; something I'd love to do in the future. The appraisal process was quick, easy, and very cost‑effective. When I went back again, I even sold some old jewelry and felt completely comfortable doing so. Called Tuesday and asked what they charge for watch battery. Was told $10 to $20 depending on the watch. I went in and the man, I didn't get his name, said $10 for the battery but the watch appeared to be dirty so he wouldn't put a battery in without cleaning the watch. He couldn't tell me how much that would cost, but come back Wednesday when the watch guy was there. I went back today. The cleaning would be $45 and today the cost of the battery was $12. This is a $38 Timex watch. I left and went to Batteries Plus. For $23.99 I got a battery put in and a lifetime warranty to replace any future batteries free and the watch did not need cleaning. I went to Diamond Jim's because I have a credit there. But their pricing is ridiculous. read more

Recently inherited a very old silver signet ring. Not sure it was even wearable but took it in an asked them to do what they could. It went from a dark gray beat up looking ring to this (see picture). While there I noticed my wedding ring (49 years old) looked tired. Now, better than new. The selection of new and estate sale jewelry is very good. I found a beautiful diamond ring there and bought it a half price for our 49th Wedding anniversary. I have been into this store exactly twice. The first time I did buy a loose opal to replace an opal in a ring I have. I also had them do some repair work on resizing a ring for me. While I was there they asked to clean my rings. My wedding rings and my husband wedding rings were put into their ultrasonic cleaner. When they brought back my husband's ring, a channel set diamond was missing. They did put it back in his ring at no charge. At the time I was satisfied with their service. I recently went in to have them set the opal in the ring I had purchased it for. While waiting I asked them to clean my rings. I had a ring cleaned and when it was returned to me, a stone was missing. This time they wanted to charge me for having the stone reset. Two visits, 2 cleanings, and both time stones fell out of the rings? I used to work in a jewelry store many years ago and used an ultrasonic cleaner and NEVER had any stones fall out of a ring. I cancelled the repair and took my ring, the loose stone and left the store, never to return again. read more

What was nice is when I walked in a worker gave me a rose. I went to consign my wedding ring. The experience changed when the jeweler came over to inspect my ring. It was weird sitting there in silence while he looked at it. After taking the magnifier out of his eyeball he tells me what's wrong with it and it will cost $225 to "repair" it first. He didn't try to connect with me at all. Very "matter of fact". He did let me know that February is a good month for sales....It's August, LOL! I didn't leave my ring at Jim's. After leaving I immediately went to Setterberg Jewelers about a block away. Holy cow, It was a completely different experience!! I was given the same consignment offer (minus the $225 fee)... they have my ring now for consignment The EXPERIENCE was just so much better than Jim's. What it comes down to is I wasn't comfortable at Diamond Jim's. I felt like I was asking for a favor. My consignment totally, 100% could've been at Jim's if I didn't feel like getting out of there so quickly! read more

Came here to have my engagement ring sized. It was $55 which seems high to me, but it's not something I have done frequently. The service was meh. Very slow. Archaic paper system. The store looked like it hasn't been updated since the 70s, the displays all had seafoam green foam that the jewelry was held in. Guess it should be expected in sun city. The bad - it took me 3 weeks to be able to get my ring. At the end of the second week I finally called them since they had said it would probably take less than a week and would contact me when it was ready. They never called me. The week that I had it done was when I was working at one job that I was out early and would have no problem getting there during their hours. Since it took two weeks to hear from them I had already started my new job in Scottsdale and wouldn't be able to make it during their hours. This was very frustrating for me. The good - I finally got off on time yesterday and thought I would finally be able to make it. The google or yelp page said they were open til 5:30. When I pull up at 5:03 I see on the door that they actually close at 5 and were still inside closing down. Commence breakdown. The owner I assume actually answered the door and I begged with tears in my eyes to just let me have my ring. I had prepaid for the resizing so all I needed was to pick it up. They did give it to me thankfully and that is the only reason I gave them 2 stars. read more

Couldn't be happier with my hole experience. From the moment I walked in everyone there was so friendly and helpful. I was looking for a turquoise gentlemen's ring. They had a few in-store that were not what I was looking for. They offered to let me look online at there other locations inventory. I picked a few that I liked and they had them shipped over the very next morning for me to see in person. I ended purchasing a unique and beautiful ring for my husband. Don't waste your time in this establishment. You will regret it, I did. The jeweler acted like he had a bunch of knowledge but he kept looking at the appraisal and the rings and pushing buttons on the calculator and coming up with all kinds of excuses about how he wouldn't sell the ring, he would take the diamonds out and put it in another setting. Full of crap story and offered scrap value. I took it to a respectable establishment and left. read more

Not worth your trouble. Appraiser was very arrogant and only concerned with what he gains. Offered no response to questions. Offered 50% of spot price for gold. I took some smaller gems and a few rings, he said the gems are not something they are interested in, so let me see if the rings are really gold. 6.5 grams with 3 small diamonds, offer of $14 a gram and I guess nothing for the diamonds. I asked him how to tell diamond from 'CZ' and was told that he has 40yrs experience. Guess I need to learn on my own in about 40 years. read more
