I'm not a patient at this facility but I did accompany a loved one. With that said, my review stems from the services my loved one received and from what I observed while I was there. . The office is located off Taylor Blvd, which is a busy street. The building isn't hard to miss. Upon our arrival, there was a huge parking lot with plenty of parking spots available. We arrived shortly before 8am so maybe that's why. The digestive clinic is located on the 3rd floor of the building. It's surround by other offices but fairly easy to find. The office was clean and there were plenty of seats in the waiting room. Upon checking in, we were greeted by the staff. The woman working the front desk appeared to be very friendly and welcoming. My loved one didn't wait too long to be seen. The provider was very friendly and informative. Answered all our questions and addressed my loved one's concerns. She promptly submitted all the information needed to get the ball rolling for their plan of treatment. We didn't feel rushed at all which is a huge plus. I was very impressed with their services during our first visit. I will circle back to this to provide you with an updated review later down the line. read more

When you see bad reviews they are for a reason. All the negative you have read is absolutely true. And it's even worse with my case. I didn't even see the doctor at all so he can be rude to me. Never at my procedure nor my office visits. Communication with office is not existent. If you ask you might get an answer and you might be transferred to a line that never picks up or calls back. Results are in. I get email but nothing from the doctor. I guess I just have to read them myself. I took a tolerance test at office. Called 3 times to get the results and no luck. They tell me that the results are in but the doctor will tell me at my appointment which is a month later. I guess in the mean time I'll just leave my faith to luck and keep dealing with the consequences. My advice is just go somewhere else. read more

I was referred to this center by my integrative doctor for a SIBO test. She told me it was going to be $75.00. When I got there, the price was raised to $110.00. I have never had a SIBO test before. Basically you just sit in a room and blow into a tube every 15 minutes or when a staff person shows up to tell you to blow. Staff was nice during my visit. I booked my appointment approximately 2 weeks out from my next phone appointment with my integrative doctor because she wanted to review my results for that appointment. Two weeks later....no results were there! She had her staff trying to call during my appointment to get the results but did not get them in time. Just FYI, I spend $273.00 for only one half hour for a phone appointment with my integrative doctor. After my appointment, I called Diablo Digestive Care to ask them why they had not sent my results? They had 2 weeks time to send them. I was told by the young man that answered the phone that I did not indicate who was supposed to get the results when I came for my appointment so it sat. Really?! I told him that the my doctor's name was on the prescription type paper she wrote for me to get the SIBO test. Who else do they think they should send the results to??? He made it seem like it was all my responsibility to make sure this office knows who to send the results to and even stated that "how are we supposed to know when my integrative doctor's appointment was scheduled?" Maybe its me but is it not the doctor's office responsibility to make sure they know who the test results are going to be sent to? Maybe someone at Diablo Digestive Care should have asked me this question when I arrived for the very first time at this office to get this test! If they are not asking, then maybe the staff should use "common sense" and send the results to the doctor that actually ordered them! I now have to pay another $273.00 for another phone appointment to discuss the results that should have been sent to my doctor's email in a timely fashion. I think this office is all about the money. Collect $110.00 (an outrageous price) for a test they do often and have staff just come in every 15 minutes, I leave, and then get blamed for their incompetence for not getting test results sent out in a timely fashion. Having had a double procedure endoscopy/colonoscopy performed by Dr. Chahal I had high hopes my medical issues would be on the way to being treated with care. While he was personable, I suffered throat damage during the endoscopy. There was no mention by Dr. Chahal after the procedure of any issues. However, a week later when I came back to show him the damage he said "I fought the anesthesia", although it was not documented in the medical report. I had taken pics and video of the damage and the progression, when I showed it to him he seemed more concerned with ignoring it and saying it was mucus, when it was uvula necrosis. I had to go back twice after the procedure, one for antiobotics as the damage to my throat resulted in infection, and for another prescription to take care of bacteria overgrowth. I went back at hte beginning of September for the same issue with my stomach, and he prescribed something to heal the lining of my stomach. As you can see these are all related to the initial visit to him, the procedure, follow up visits, and a last visit to advise I was still have stomach issues for which he prescribed something. However, when I needed my FMLA paperwork to be filled out there was much difficulty going back and forth, again in the end he seemed more focused on how I knew about the uvula damage rather than taking care of the paperwork I needed filled out for insurance purposes. After going back and forth with his office on the matter, and reminding them of the damage to my throat they left me a message saying they will no fill out any paperwork for me. They had no problem accepting the $40 copay for the 5 minutes he graced me in his office, before standing up abruptly and opening the door signaling the appointment was done. Bottom line is they damaged my throat, and never accepted responsibility yet opted to shut me out from further treatment and documenting the treatment I've been getting from them. Every visit to him was for care of the initial issue, my stomach however once called out on his botched procedure, and the fact that he didn't document ANY issues during the procedure but had an excuse after the fact shows that this doctor is one to avoid. Amazing doctor. He was very knowledgeable about all aspects of digestive track. When I go see doctors I'm dreading the experience - ALWAYS. This time my experience was totally different. I made an appointment. Was seen within few days. Dr gave me 3 tests to do and within next few days results were in. I had mild SIBO which was caused by taking probiotics. It's my 5th flare up. No more taking probiotics for me. Dr wasn't pushing antibiotics on me. He let me decide so I took these test results and brought them to my holistic doctor. She's putting me on 2 weeks of Elemental Diet (no food, only customized shakes) and I will be back to see if my SIBO is back under control. I didn't even have to wait in the waiting room. That was awesome especially if you are busy business owner. Time is precious. I will be using this place from now on. Very happy patient. read more

I went to see Dr Chahal after being referred by the infusion center on the 2nd floor of the building. The first time I'd seen him after making an appointment two weeks prior, I had just been released from the hospital the day before due to a Crohns flare up. When my husband and I went in to talk with him in his office, he didn't have any of my records(even though he is affiliated with John Muir and all my records are with John Muir, as is my internist that has all of my records in the network). He obviously informed me he couldn't do anything for me without the records. He was flip, and lost patience when my husband and I attempted to explain my situation, and inform him of my history with my gastrointestinal issues. He cut both my husband and me off several times. I cut the conversation short as it was obvious we weren't getting anywhere and proceeded to sign releases for my medical records to be sent to Dr. Chahal's office. On my next appointment that I put in my calendar on my IPhone as 1:15 PM, I was told when I arrived that my appointment was actually at 11:15 AM, and that the doctor couldn't see me. Ok, I can accept that I could have made a mistake. I thought it was a bit unusual that there was no call to inquire why I wasn't there but maybe their procedures are different than the other excellent doctors I have been seen by. Upon re-scheduling my next appointment I inquired to see if my medical records had come in that were requested 2 months prior. I was told no, they didn't have any of my records. I asked to request them again, and maybe a phone call would be necessary. The front desk receptionist said she would make sure to check on them before I came in again. On my next appointment as I was getting ready to leave my house, I had an episode as many Crohns patients do, and was unable to leave the bathroom for 15 minutes, which delayed me arriving on time for my appointment. I arrived 10 minutes late. When I met with Dr. Chahal, the office still didn't have my medical records (really, after 3 appointments???) and Dr. Chahal was rude, impatient, and very unprofessional. He was irritated and extremely agitated. I asked him about some blood work I had done as my primary doctor called me to inform me my liver levels were high. He told me it could be due to my vitamin regime. I asked him if it could be due to a prescription I was taking prescribed by a previous doctor, and he looked on his phone to get information and said yes that could be the reason. I left his office, went straight to the office where my medical records were (the person who had them ready and waiting for me after I called to request them, said that she in fact had faxed my records to Dr. Chahals off herself). Went back to Dr. Chahals office and asked if I could speak to the doctor. I was told he's very busy, what do you want to ask him? I told her I just needed to ask him a quick question that would take a minute. She said it would be quite a while. Then a gentleman came into the waiting room and said he needed to speak with the doctor, and that the doctor told him to stop over and he would see him without an appointment. Hmmmm. After 20 minutes Dr Chahal comes out and says he doesn't have time for me. I asked him for 1 minute. He said ok, maybe 30 seconds! I handed him my records and asked if he wanted to accept me as a patient. He says, yes, and goes through the I don't have your records and can't do anything for you speech I've heard numerous times....and yes, I get it. I got it the 1st time. That's why I got my records and delivered them to you. I tell him, you seem apprehensive, that's why I want to make sure. Then, he goes OFF! He tells me he respected my time (3 appointments without anything accomplished whatsoever because your office can't get my records, or call me to tell me not to waste my time coming in again????) and that I need to respect HIS time, and he knows when everyone comes in, and on and on. I then apologize and inform him why I was late for today's appointment....uh Crohns...this is your profession. I'm ignored and he's acting erratic, repeating himself over and over, and is quite angry. I was near tears, and walked out. Talk about not respecting other people's time, how about respecting them as a human that has an uncontrollable illness? You and your staff have wasted my time on 3 separate occasions, and then to be treated with such disrespect is deplorable. I would not recommend this doctor to anyone. Beware. read more

Our experience with Dr. Chahal was very unpleasant. As my father's caregiver I see a lot of doctors and their staff. I've seen the difference between incredible care and careless, inconsiderate bedside manners. If your experience here is lacking I encourage you to keep looking because there are great & personable doctors out there. He is condescending, cocky and didn't have the time or patience for my father. He accepted the appointments, I'm assuming because of the Medicare & BC insurances provided. During my second appointment, he referenced recent studies related to my situation. I recently started seeing this doctor after finding out that my doctor, Dr. Burbige, had retired and left his practice to Dr. Chahil. At first I really liked the doctor, seemed like he was a splitting image of the doctor I loved so much, Dr. Burbige. I was a patient of Dr. Burbige for many yrs and he had also saved my daddy's life. So I figured any doctor he would trust to hand his practice over to must be excellent! I have found out otherwise. I had an appointment about a month ago, called the office said I was running maybe 5 mins late. They said they couldn't see me and I had to reschedule despite me telling them the horrible shape my stomach was in. Today, same thing, had to reschedule for being a few minutes late due to being on toilet due to how bad my stomach is and then when I got there, the only open spot in parking lot that I could walk from (I can't walk far due to disability) had broken glass all over it. This is not how Dr. Burbige would want his practice ran, I know that for a fact! Especially if he or his nurse was told the horrible shape a patient was in! I am now finding a new doctor and will never return to this doctor. You would think a doctor that deals with stomach issues would understand when a patient is a few minutes late due to severe stomach issues! I was referred to Dr. Chahal by my primary physician. I don't think I have ever been more impressed by a doctor or his staff ! I was immediately greeted and made to feel comfortable. Dr. Chahal himself came to the waiting room to get me and put me immediately at ease. During the interview portion of my visit, Dr. Chahal was not glued to a computer, but talked directly to me and listened to every thing I had to say. I moved to the Brentwood area a few years back. I had a doctor in the city I've seen for years and was sad to leave his practice.
