Fairway

Diablo Creek is one of the best-kept public courses I have played in a while around me. The conditions are consistently great, from tee to green. For how well they maintain it, the prices are honestly a steal, super reasonable. The pro shop staff deserves a shoutout too. They are always friendly, and I really appreciated them holding on to the brush I use to clean my irons after I left it behind by accident. Just a solid experience all around. Definitely coming back.

10th hole - driving range on right

Diablo Creek Golf Course is a pretty nice municipal golf course. The fairways are in fairly nice condition and the greens are very nice too. The course itself is not super long but there are a number of holes that would definitely test one's distance. The one thing to look out for is that many of the holes run adjacent to each other and one can hear the distant shouting of "FORE!". Another thing is the driving range. There is very little netting between the driving range and the tenth hole. Be aware of errant shots! It is a fairly flat course and a nice one to walk. The clubhouse is very small and quite dated. Interestingly enough, DIablo Creek allows for fivesomes as there was a group in front of mine that had 5 players. There were some delays at a few spots however we were able to maintain a good pace and complete the round in about 4 hours.

Driving range on a Sunday afternoon

Tried Diablo driving range out to get some swings in on a nice Sunday afternoon. The guys in the shop were great and answered all my questions about the course and range. They close around 8:30pm and lights out at 9pm. That closing time on a Sunday is pretty hard to find. Glad they close late. The range is well maintained and the tees were decent to use. The mats were a little dirty but what do you expect. Still a great range. This range also has distance markers to see how far the ball gets. When I was parked I did try to call in advance and ask if dogs are allowed and someone put me on hold. I hung up after 5 minutes of waiting and came into the shop to see only to see an employee watching tv. He was probably on break but another gentleman helped me out and helped me check in. The range area also has a diner next it and outdoor seating great for people who want to spectate and just hangout. You can order food inside and have it brought to your range bay too. Will need to try out the golf course next time!

This is a nice 18-hole golf course in Concord. This was my first time playing here and it didn't disappoint me. It had a driving range and a big putting service. The course is flat and for an avid walker like me, this place suited me. We started at noon on a weekday and even though there were a lot of groups playing, we finished the course in 4 1/2 hours. There was some wait on several Par 3 holes but our group moved along smoothly. Depending on your golf skills, the white tees are pretty long. The majority of the Par 4 are more than 400 yards. If you're not a long hitter on your driver, your second shot needs a long iron or wood, or hybrid. Also, their Par 5 is close to 600 yards on the white tees. So, if you're not a long hitter, try to play on the gold tees. Most of the greens are challenging. The greens have a lot of slopes and break to the hole. I didn't notice any greens that are flat surfaces. Make sure you read the greens carefully to get close to the hole The fairways are wide. Even if you hit an errant shot, you still have a chance to play to the green. This is a nice place to play for beginners as well as any golf aficionados I will come back and enjoy my favorite sport at this place.

I go for the driving range. $14 for the basket of balls although I believe they might've raised the price recently.

The first time we went was great. The dragon bounce house was inflated and the size of the thing offset the amount of kids that were there. It didn't feel out of control, and it was a little more peaceful. Today, the dragon bounce house was deflated, because the bigger kids there were just destroying it. Not with malicious intent I'm sure, but these bounce houses are really not made for teenagers. Since the dragon bounce house was down, the big kids moved on to the remaining two bounce houses that are not even comparable in size to the dragon one. The big kids dominated the bounce houses, which made the smaller kids nervous. It was unsafe for the littles. Parents of the bigger kids were completely checked out and paying no mind to their out of control kids that were knocking over the smaller bounce houses. Additionally, you had big kids climbing on top of the roofs of the small play houses, which I was hoping my 11 month old could play in. No way would it have been safe with the much older boys literally jumping from the top of one roof to another. This place is so incredible, and highlights more of what we need in the area. We definitely need the dragon bounce house repaired, and absolutely need better safety measures to keep the smaller kids safe amongst the bigger ones. Parents need to be better about watching their kids, and perhaps an additional staff member can be assigned to the play area- making sure the big kids aren't destroying the bounce houses that they shouldn't be on anyways.

I used to really enjoy coming to Skylinks at Buchanan Fields. The improvements over the past few…read moreyears--especially to the driving range--have been great, and it was exciting to see the facility getting new life and attracting more people. That said, the range experience has recently become frustrating. I completely support the effort to make Skylinks more family-friendly and welcoming to a wider audience. But lately it feels like the pendulum has swung too far away from being a place where people can actually practice golf. On several visits, I've seen range bays occupied for extremely long stretches by people doing everything except hitting balls--eating meals, reading newspapers, hanging out socially, etc. Meanwhile, others who came specifically to practice are waiting around for a spot. It's discouraging when you come with the intention of working on your game but can't get access to the range. This seems like a policy issue that could be easily addressed. Implementing reasonable time limits for range bays during busy periods would go a long way toward making the experience fair for everyone. Many ranges already do this successfully. Skylinks has done a lot of great work revitalizing the facility, and I'd love to see that momentum continue. A few adjustments to how range time is managed would help ensure the space works well both for social visitors and for golfers who are there to practice.

My foursome was #6 to tee off. Hole 1 from the red tee box had a water hazard - not left or right but right in the middle. Yes my ball went right into the water. However it was the only ball I lost. My foursome agreed the course was challenging- water hazards, bunkers, and barrancas. Many holes were either doglegged left or doglegged right. And a long course. Hubby said from the whites it was 6100+ yards total. Us ladies played from the reds and it felt long too. The course was nicely maintained. Our 19th hole was upstairs from the pro shop. The food was surprisingly good. Served banquet style. We had BBQ chicken and beef, mac cheese, cornbread, and green salad with brownie for dessert. Beverages included beer and wine and coffee and tea. The only con - one foursome was so slow that play backed up. And we had to be finished with lunch by 4pm. Many of us had to rush through our meal.

First time at this location, and parking was super easy in their lot. The store layout is very clean and easy to navigate. Plenty of selection when it comes to apparel, clubs, and bags. They had like 4 hitting bays with launch monitors. Scott was able to set me up with one while I tried out a few iron shots with the set I was eyeing. After a few swings, I was sold. Working with Scott and Jeremy was a breeze and ended up with a brand new putter as well. While some people like to thrift shop for clothes, I like to do that with golf clubs because the demo and trade-in pricing on clubs are a good way to save money of clubs that you actually want. The 90-day return policy for store credit allows you to take what you buy out and play them for up to 90 days. If you don't like it, you can swap them out for something else. And with golf, the money can always be spent on something golf related. Played my first round with my new set, and love em. Will probably be back to get them re-gripped soon.

THE WORST PLACE EVER. This place has been nothing but a nightmare for the people who actually live…read morearound it. They torment the surrounding neighborhood nonstop, and it honestly feels like they've bought out City Hall because they get away with absolutely everything. They start cutting the grass at 6-7 AM, waking everyone up and causing constant noise and insomnia. And the "maintenance" of the course? It's basically nonexistent -- they just run the mowers and call it upkeep. Meanwhile, golf balls are constantly flying into our neighborhood, breaking windshields and windows like it's no big deal. The people who live here are the ones paying the price for their negligence. If you're thinking about coming here, please don't. Maybe if people stop supporting this place, they'll finally be forced to shut down and get out of our lives. Answer to the business wanting me to contact them: I'm not sure what there is to "discuss" at this point. For over a year I have repeatedly contacted you asking that grass cutting not begin at sunrise so that nearby residents can have the chance to sleep. I have called multiple times, stopped by to speak with the owner, and formal complaints and legal actions have already been filed -- yet nothing has changed. This is a residential area with many people who work demanding schedules, including nurses at John Muir Hospital who work night shifts and need to sleep during the morning hours. We also have elderly residents, cancer patients, and families who simply want to enjoy their homes -- especially during the summer when we would like to sleep with our windows open without being woken at dawn by loud machinery. I have lived here my entire life, and the current situation is unacceptable. If decisions were made through lobbying or special allowances to permit these practices, I will absolutely pursue every avenue available to challenge them. Additionally, there have been multiple dangerous incidents where golf balls have been hit far outside the course area and have landed on or near my balcony while I was outside. This is not only disruptive but potentially dangerous. This situation has been ongoing for far too long. The community deserves reasonable quiet hours and basic safety in our own homes. I expect this matter to be taken seriously and addressed.

The staff are not properly trained in food and beverage service, which means orders (both food and drinks) are often wrong. The property is in bad shape, as is evidenced by the dead and dying Redwood trees planted all over the course. There are potholes throughout the driveways. Some members allow their small children and grandchildren to run around the dining room, deck and pool, screaming, acting wild and unsupervised, as if they're in their own back yard. This has caused other members to stop dining at the club. Some members respect the dining area, but given the lack of properly trained staff, limited menu, poor quality food and service, it's no wonder members no longer choose to dine at the Club. Written requests to Management asking for improvements are ignored, and staff comes and goes like a roulette wheel. For the cost of the initiation fees and monthly fees, one can only guess that the owners are enjoying a nice tax write off instead of meeting with members and addressing their requests.
