DO NOT USE-- STOLEN DEPOSIT-- we hired this business back in October 2022 after our meeting. They requested a $2000 deposit to hold the date. We paid this deposit and did not receive a "contract" for 5 months (we would ask every two weeks). The contract we received had the wrong dates, and was blank-- with a $22,000 subtotal at the bottom (no price breakdown). We requested a detailed quote, met with them again. They then provided the exact same quote, with added items from our meeting with a note to "subtotal it ourselves"-- which was near $35,000 (our discussed budget was 20-25 for reference). Our deposit was given one year before our event, we had zero understanding of what we were praying for or what our event would look like 3 months before our actual wedding date. We ended up firing them 7 weeks out and going with a different decorator. They kept our deposit even though no services were provided. This is an unprofessional business that made the already stressful process much worse-- you can find much better decorators in the area for the same price and better quality. I would give them 5/5 because service was good I initially thought it would only cover stage decoration and they later provided with extra lighting and flowers and most importantly, Shaloo has done an excellent job. We hired Dharma Events to Plan the decoration for the ceremony and reception of our daughter's wedding on 5/25/2019. We gave an advance of $1,500 to plan the work on their insistence. We waited for 4 months for plans, nothing came about. In desperation, a month before wedding, we had to hire a new decorator who produced and executed the decoration plan. It was very stressful. I may have lost my advance but you can protect yours by not falling for the trick of demanding advance for the plan. This business definitely didn't earn my trust. I gave them two stars because they had a decent selection of bhangra that kept the reception fun. However, we had provided them with at least 40 non-Indian songs to choose from to play during the cocktail hour but they decided to play about 5 of them twice and then refused to play the rest. Instead, they played the crappiest, cheesiest music that they had. I was embarrassed that my guests would think that we selected that music to play at our own wedding! It's sad that when I think about my wedding reception, one of the memories that comes to mind is the terrible songs that they played that were not on our list. Just for the stage Shaloo told me just for a plain stage she would charge 3500 with out flowers. She said that was the best package that she could offer. I ended up going with partyland decor which did my whole wedding for 1500.00 with flowers and a crystal stage. Co-owner Shaloo's decoration work for marriage was as per agreement, Nothing extra or special. However, throughout the decoration process and various emails and during payment time, the owner Shaloo kept cribbing that she has charged less than normal price for the work done and kept claiming that she has been doing big favor to us by giving low price. She expected us to be indebted to her for all of our life, even though what she charged was not cheap. We paid around $6,000, and we had several other good vendor options. She was desperate for business and perhaps that's why she felt she is giving discount. We feel she just had normal pricing. She also doesn't give any proper invoice for payments made. So not sure how she is reporting the income to govt. When asked for an invoice, she just wrote a memo in notepad and gave to us. So, caution that you may not have legal proof for work performed, and in case of business use, cannot show it as business expense. read more

Dharma Events is not only the worst company I have ever dealt with, but also the most unprofessional, rude and characterless staff I have ever witnessed. They overcharged us, took horrible pictures, and Never delivered our pictures from one of the days of our wedding. The pictures they did send were the raw unedited ones, and only for two out of the three days. On the main day of the wedding they did not even take portraits of my husband and I! They sent us videos that they said they would re-edit for us, but they never did. The videos: 1) cut out parts of the bridal entrance, 2) had many scenes that common sense would tell you to delete, such as someone tripping 3) were made in very poor quality. It's been One and a Half years since I got married. We spent over $17,000 with this company, and got Nothing that they promised. The DJ who played all three days of our wedding completely diregarded all of our requests. Seriously, he refused to play the list I gave him, refused to turn the volume down when we asked, and took it upon himself to replace our first dance song with his own choice. We've called and contacted them countless times, and a few times they promised to fix the problems, and even promised to re-shoot our pictures, but when it came time to do it, they stopped answering our calls. Other occasions when we had called to ask where our pictures and videos were, they never gave us a straight answer until finally one day the woman, Shaloo, was extremely rude to me and told me it's not her problem if I don't have my photos, and hung up on me. They stole from us the memories of the most important day of our life and if I could do it all over again I would never give my business to this company. I'm writing this message to warn people not to trust these dishonest, rude and unprofessional people for anything. I would give them less than one star if I could. read more

DO NOT USE DHARMA EVENTS FOR WEDDING AT ALL!!!!!! Initially, the communication started off well with the male representative of the two (Bobby). I went all the way to their venue in Vienna to take a look at their equipments/material and was overall happy. Shaloo took notes and drawings of what I wanted and assured me that she knew what I wanted. This was almost 9 months before the wedding. About 2 months before the wedding, I started to communicate back again to make sure everything is in place. This is when Shaloo's personality completely changed and was extremely rude and unresponsive to questions. She was very defensive about any confirmation I wanted from her. She shows up to the wedding and puts up the decoration and uses different shades of colors than asked, I asked dark purple and fuchsia. She ends up using lilac and red, the decoration to me who loves deep colors was disgusting. What is more insulting is the way my family was treated by her at the wedding. Even when I addressed this issue with her, she was in denial and did not want to take any responsibility. My wedding was a wedding of 1000 attendees and was a great advertising plug for DHARMA Events but I made sure that was not the case. There were numerous guests who wanted to know who the decorator was but once I shared with them the headache I had to go through and emails, they were no longer interested. The mistake on my end was the fact I paid everything upfront......BIG MISTAKE. Even the friend who referred them to me was embarrassed by the entire mess as she witnessed it the day off. If you're looking for additional details, write back and I'll share more. I will continue to share these details so others will not be victims. At the end of the day, every time I look at my wedding pictures, I can't seem to stop but to think if I were to do it again, I would've went with another decorator with respect and compassion. This was perfect. Dharma was fantastic and did everything perfectly and then some. I had asked them them to do the decorations and never did i imagine i would see decorations as magnificent as they had done. I had walked in to check in on everything and right away i was at a lost for words. I just kept saying thank you and wow over and over. It was beautiful. I had worked Bobby and he is fantastic so is his wife. i watched people walk into the wedding and everyone was stunned as they saw the stage and the tables. This was worth every single penny and i am glad Dharma was there. Bobby told me not to worry about anything. People still compliment on the decorations they ask me who did them. They made so perfect that it all elegantly centered around the bride with overwhelming everything. I even got the DJ from Dharma named DJ Romeo and he did everything perfectly. Before dinner the music was at a decent level, during dinner the music was lowered to a comforting level with more mellow songs and during the dancing he had turned the volume up to get everyone dancing. i can not thank Bobby and all of Dharma enough for this. Where do I start. PLEASE AVOID DOING BUSINESS WITH DHARMA EVENTS. I should've known from the first day we met when Shaloo Singh (owner) showed up an hour late. She talked very cleverly the first time and convinced me she was doing me a favor and giving me the best price possible. So I went with them after seeing their portfolio and guarantees made by Shaloo herself. She made a contract for my wedding and I had her email that to me (it was not detailed at all). After the contract was sent and I had paid for everything she was EXTREMELY hard to reach, to the point where she would ignore me and avoid picking up phone calls when all I wanted was a confirmation on certain details. The only good thing I can say is that her stage set up was exactly what I wanted, hence the one star. I had also hired there DJ, who somehow managed to play the wrong song for my entrance although I had requested a specific song. Also he played repeats of old songs which was unbelievable. The photographer was okay. She was a third party contractor as was the DJ and videographer (which I was told about after signing the contract and paying) . Shaloo only gave a USB to her employee as she avoided to meet with me at all costs but insisted that was the only way I could receive my photos. So I met with a random man outside of a sketchy plaza (he was an hour and 20 minutes late). I was told my photos and videos would be ready at the same time (6 weeks, which seemed a bit much as she doesn't print the photos for you or edit them). I forcefully got my photos after 7 weeks and had a huge ordeal while trying to get my video which they finally gave to me after 9 weeks. Shaloo was extremely rude when I had confronted her about the time frame and said "this happens with all wedding event coordinators" (which is preposterous to say to your client). My in laws had hired them for their second day arrangement shortly after I had hired them. I had no contact or information about pricing etc with Shaloo about the SEPARATE event. She misquoted the price with my in laws ($900.00 difference) and instead of apologizing and finding a solution began threatening to withhold MY video which I had already PAID FOR. She was extremely rude and was acting like she was doing me a favor. I PAID FOR THESE SERVICES ($3,000.00+), if anything I did her a favor by not reporting her to the authorities as she never gave my in laws a contract. Maybe she does that so she doesn't have to report cash to the IRS for tax purposes. hmmm. Not only that but when I insisted that I meet up with her to discuss how to solve the problem she insisted that she will not meet with me face to face to collect any payments or to speak with me but kept threatening to take me to court. This was funny to me because my contract was paid for, had she done so, she would've lost. Horrible horrible customer service, no customer service at all. She has to sense of how to run a business and even her employees were over an hour late for the 3 separate times I had to go to their creepy wear-house to collect my photos and video. 4 of my cousins are getting married in 2016 and actually asked me where I got my photos, stage, and videos prepared from. I REFUSE to even mention Dharma events as I would not want anyone to deal with the headache, frustration and rudeness that i dealt with. They have no respect for their clients. Sad to say this but Dharma events is a horrible horrible event company. I would NEVER recommend Dharma events to anyone unless you want to be talked rudely to and kept in the dark about your own event. read more
