I kind of can't believe how bad this place was. It's possible that we got totally manipulated by our server, but the food in general was also so, so bad. Our main mistake was probably coming with a child; either the kids meals don't come with a drink or we got duped, because we somehow paid $5 for milk. The menu stated that the meal would come with a side, so we asked for fries and to add an applesauce; she rang the fries as the extra side so they would cost $5...and there were LITERALLY 6 "smiley" fries on the side. Altogether, we paid for a $6 kids meal, $5 for milk, and $5 for a side of fries and my kid's $16 meal that she ate 3 bites of was more than my own. My own, by the way, was nachos with burnt chips. When ordering, the server asked, "guac, salsa, and sour cream okay?" I said, "sure." HAH - guac was also a $2 add on. I understand that you want the bill to be as high as possible and it's part of being in business, but this is just sad manipulation of a new customer and we will not be back. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would! I've never liked this place because the service is always bad, the waitresses are rude and act like they hate their job - but I agreed to try it again for lunch with a friend and once again it was a bad experience! Our entree came out before our appetizer (wtf?) and when we asked where it was we got a rude response from our waitress - saying it takes at least 20 minutes to make spinach dip. OK, I don't need to know how long it takes to cook our appetizer, I need to know why you brought out our entree before we even got the dip? So that turned me off from this place even more - not to mention the chicken on our salad was bad and the dip was not worth eating after our entree. She didn't refill our drinks or ask how our food was. Bottom line, this place is the definition of greasy spoon - if your looking for better quality AND service, go to The Red Brick across the street!! read more

My sister talked this place up for the past year. I finally made it from Florida and the beer was warm, the waitress was sooooo slow and the kicker was the famous pretzels....... over done and grainy cheese. This is a comfy pub, but only on the main floor. The food is adequate both upstairs and down, but the service and ambiance upstairs is dreadful. Do not eat upstairs. You have been warned. It has taken us years to realize that we only have had terrible service and unpleasant meals at the Dexter Pub when we have eaten upstairs. The poor servers are frazzled from running upstairs and down, and food arrives ridiculously long after expected. The main floor is warmly welcoming, as a pub should be. The service is cheerful and prompt, the food is fresh and tasty, and the owner frequently checks with diners to make sure all is well. Not so upstairs. The upstairs is oddly tacky, noisy, and stark. Service is grumpy and excruciatingly s-l-o-w! Eat downstairs at a table or at the the bar and you will enjoy your meal at the Dexter Pub. read more

This is the best place in Dexter. Everyone is friendly and the owner Peter offers excellent hospitality. The food is very good -try the BBQ bacon burger and the gryo. Large selection of beers too with some rotating taps. read more

Went with a group of 6 on a busy Saturday night. Pub was packed! We were seated upstairs. Was a little loud but every table was full. Our waitress was helpful. Service was fast & friendly. Food was reasonably priced, tasty, and served the perfect temperature. Our group had pizza, seafood mac & cheese, fish & chips, and a Santa Fe salad. I took my wife and son to dinner at the Dexter Pub. We ordered 2 appetizers and 3 entrees. The appetizers arrived quickly and were good, but then we waited for 1 hour and 15 minutes for our meals to arrive. The waitress kept stopping by to apologize and gave us some nonsense about a large party upstairs. We the food finally did arrive it was cold. My wife had ordered a steak medium rare and a baked potato. Not only was the steak cold, it was cooked medium well and was served with cold french fries. The waitress explained that they were out of baked potatoes so the served it with french fries. When we complained about the cold food she offered to have it reheated for us. We sent the food back and asked to speak with the owner. She came back and said that he was busy and that if we wanted we could take the meal home and heat it up and they would knock 10% off the bill. I was livid and explained that we would wait for the owner to talk with him and no we did not want the food. She came back and said that the owner would not come out and talk with me. She apologized and gave me a check for the appetizers. What a way to run your business. Needless to say we will never go back and I will tell everybody I see about my experience there read more

Used to be an above average dining experience but changes over the past year or so make this a below average establishment. They used to bring fresh bread with butter. Now they have a different story from every waitress as to why they can't bring bread today (not out of the oven, manager has decided against serving bread, I'll bring it right out and it never shows etc). Kids used to eat free on Sundays and they did away with that. Used to serve a turkey burger and apple sauce for kids, now the same ole greasy burger or chicken fingers option. Paid $7.99 for an entree salad today and they brought the teeny-weeniest little dinner salad....couldn't believe it! Flat beer from the tap, dirty tables and floors, not sure why I'm not giving one star except they used to be a favorite and hate to do it to them for old time sakes. read more

I do Not recommend this place if you have a peanut allergy! Our daughter has one and loves to eat french fries....everytime we have gone in and asked what type of oil they use in the fryer, the waitresses do not know and never offer to find out. Waited an exceptionally long time for food. When we probed the waitress on why, she said a group of 15 just submitted their order before us (something she never mentioned up front). After waiting some more, the owner knew we were upset, and he came over to talk to us but he was defensive. He was saying that we had an appetizer and food was on the way, that we shouldn't be upset. I was shocked. This is poor management and not customer-focused. It set a negative tone for everyone at our table. Finally received our food, and it was sub-par. I wouldn't order this meal again. I've eaten at many establishments where if there is any sort of issue (small or large), they credit the entire bill, no questions asked. This was not even offered. We paid for an unpleasant experience. Poor behavior exhibited by the owner left us in a sour mood. We will not return, nor recommend this place. I have been here several times. During the week and on the weekends. Busy place. Enjoyed each of my visits. The upstairs is nice but prefer the ambiance of the first floor better. Great food selection. Can't go wrong with the pizza. I really like their different salads too. Tried most of them. Their asiago cheese appetizer is yummy. Reasonable prices too. I always order the "Mill Creek" strip steak whenever I eat at the Pub. Has always been cooked perfectly and taste's fantastic. Dexter Pub has the best BBQ chicken wings I have every had. The BBQ flavor is deep in the meat rather than just on the outside.

this is a good place to eat and bring your family, i have been there for lunch several times.During the day they have 2 girls that run the whole place including the bar and the inside and outside tables in the summer, they run there asses off every time i have been there, but i have also witnessed them get their asses chewed in front of a full lunch crowd, which is kind of absurd the way those girls run around when the bar is full plus tables inside and out i would think the owner would cut them some slack. It is usually the same 2 girls every time i am there during the day and I think they do an excellent job, it is very obvious they know what they are doing, but could probably find some where else to work where they are appreciated a little more read more

Whether you like the food here or not, customers should know that this owner has a reputation of being pretty awful to his employees (that I can attest to). He is known for his temper with his wait staff. I have witnessed him yelling at one of his waitresses "are you stupid?!?" for seating a table "wrong". No, just no. The service was fantastic but the food was.....urgh. We were there after a morning bike ride looking for a good lunch on a Sunday. The place we usually go was closed so we decided to give this place a try. My husband ordered the turkey burger. It looked like a chicken McNugget without the breading and there was a ton of gristle in it. It looked like it was microwaved then possibly put on the grill to give a little color. I ordered the Georgian Reuben, which wasn't half bad but it looked like the lunch meat was Carl Buddings and the coleslaw was store bought obviously not homemade. My daughter, who is 13 months had the kids meal mac and cheese. It. Was. Kraft. Mac. And Cheese. From The BOX (or a store brand of some sort) for $4.99 PLUS a container of GFS applesauce still in the container. WTF. I was mad. I could have made that portion size for .25. But our waitress (especially the one who gave us the rag to help clean up our daughter was exceptional). When I went to the ladies restroom I was able to peek into the kitchen. COMPLETE filth where it would would have Gordon Ramsay or Robert Irivin vomiting into the garbage. There was grease everywhere and plain ole' filth. I have worked in the restaurant industry a while ago while perusing my college degree and never I have I seen such grossness. Also, I heard some the chefs/cooks saying, "they don't pay me enough to do this F*&^ S&^%$. This is f&*^^......." you get the idea.....while I had my daughter with me. So, no.
