I'd been meaning to stop by Dewey's since it opened years ago but it just never worked out. I finally got the opportunity to try and had a great experience. We came in for lunch during a week day and the place was almost empty. Tons of pizza options as well as other items on the menu. It's a chain pizza restaurant but doesn't really feel like it. I walked in not knowing really what I wanted for dinner and was greeted with warm welcoming smiles. To my surprise there wasn't a wait to be seated. Tristen, my server brought me to a table and was very polite and knowledgeable on what was available tonight. I told her I wasn't sure what I wanted so she helped me with a few ideas. Thanks to her I tried the Caprice pizza with chicken and Candied Walnut/Grape Salad. She told me to try a Fat Tire with my meal tonight. Tonight's atmosphere was pleasantly quiet and very busy. I enjoyed my first visit to Dewey's! I was greeted warmly when I came in, was seated promptly and was approached swiftly by a smiling server. I ordered the calzone since I was solo. Most pizza places are best for couples or more because you can order a big pizza and share. They have a special pizza and then a variety of specialty pizzas that are always on the menu with interesting combinations. My eye caught the Don Corelone, but before I let myself get excited by reading the description, I ordered the calzone. No need to go overboard with tons of leftovers. But in the course of the time I was there, the don coreleone was ordered by at least 3-4 tables. The calzone arrived in a reasonable amount of time, and I was pleasantly surprised the dough was soft and pillowy, versus cracker-like and crusty. It was nice and hot, and came with the perfect amount of marinara- not too much that you felt guilty having leftovers but not so little you run it after a couple of bites. The manager stopped by my table and asked how was everything and he seemed happy to be there and liked his job, which I love! The O'Fallon location of Dewey's pizza did a great job and my first experience was good. Check it out if you are ever on I-64 and Green mount crossing on the side with the new hospital. We came to Dewey's to celebrate my brother's 17th birthday. I've been meaning to try this place for a while, and I finally had the chance. I was not disappointed! It was packed, but the service was still so quick. Our waitress was so kind and helpful. She even brought my brother a Dewey's glass as a birthday gift from the restaurant. We really had a wonderful time. The table split three pizzas: Create Your Own, Veggie, and Caprice. Each one was well cooked and the crust was evenly crispy. A table of 3 could easily split a 13 inch pizza if they wished. One cool feature, that we didn't take advantage of this time, is that you can order half and half pizzas from their expansive menu. We couldn't get thin crusts. Neither pizza had a crisp crust. The Porky Fig pizza was so sweet it should have been labeled a desert pizza. The pork was much too salty, so after two bites, I picked the pork off my slices. The Socrates Revenge pizza had toppings I liked but the sauce was ho-hum. Because the crust was thick and it wasn't crispy, essentially we were eating good toppings on wads of doughy bread. The upshot is, I wasn't as impressed as most reviewers.
