Came to this market in Rogers Park and was surprised how good things are. It has a lot of what you find in a typical grocery store. Devon Market is where to go to get the basics. Even so, it's locally owned. That's enough of a reason to buy from here over those. A place that's been here for quite awhile. It's been serving Rogers Park since 2001, being one of the bigger independent grocers. The majority of the stuff is the basics you can find in other places. One difference is the stuff here is all fresh. They personally inspect everything that comes to the store. A lot of it not only looks good, but tastes good. There's a pretty big produce section. Even with the high quality, the prices here are pretty affordable. They have a lot of cheaper specials, so be on the lookout for a few. Honestly, coming in here is a HUGE nightmare. One of the girls here has a giant crush on my boyfriend and is always super rude to me. From cancelling my Ubers when I spend over the $150 here and making me wait in the cold to not charging my products correctly to just these death stares and glares and just being really downright unpleasant. She really sucks. I have gotten groceries here in the past since moving to this city bc it's the neighborhood grocery store and I really thought it would be a good business to support but it's always been a really unpleasant experience from her and a few others here as well. Not only does she make me super uncomfortable, it's really unpleasant for my boyfriend too. He gets bullied. Not to overshare but we're both autistic and I've told them this and have a difficult time standing up for ourselves in really unpleasant situations like this -- to be honest we will probably end our relationship with this store and will stick to Aldi's and Whole Foods down the street as much as possible from now on :/ It's hard enough moving to a different city without a friendly face, it's really tough and you have to go and make it even more unpleasant without any understanding of our situation, not to mention how wildly unpleasant and inappropriate your work and behavior is. I have been coming here for years , and it is only getting better. All the updates they did are absolutely beautiful. The staff Is so friendly and very helpful when you need to find something. On my recent trip I saw they had some of my favorite chocolates The Toblerone for only $4.99 when everywhere else is like $10 ea, I don't mind saving five dollar. When you walk in they have such a beautiful bakery , all the delicious sweets they have for all occasions, over Christmas they had the cutest desserts with snowmen and reindeer, and they were so delicious. And I saw today they had ones for Valentine's Day. I had to pick some up for my husband as a treat. And another great thing is that you can have the most delicious cup of coffee while you shop , it will help keep you Warm on these cold days. I could not be happier with Devon Market! The place looks a lot better and the workers and people were incredible. Also, going into the store I noticed they added a bakery, what really stuck me was the Bosnian Baklava and when I tell you that baklava truly tasted authentic and good. I was excited to shop here a few years after coming back to the area but I was hugely disappointed by the service. Last week the cashier's computer broke down and the cashier (young girl ) was clearly annoyed, rolinger eyes, no apologies for customers inconvenience of waiting 7min. Today cashier Mariela took my shopping basket filled with 16 yogurts and dumped them out with force - I can only guess she was upset that I had asked if it was ok to scan from the basket. A friendly request from her would have been enough to have it out. These girls don't just need training in customer service, they need to learn common decency first. I have come into the store with a scarf or something covering my head and I am watched like a I am stealing. I have been followed before in this store. I come and spend plenty of money in this store. I never usually write reviews but this place really deserves one. They renovated the entire front of the store, which gives Devon Market such a nice, warm, friendly feel to it. The cakes and pastries displayed in that area always look delicious and I just can't stop myself from purchasing something from there every time I stop by!. We became a permanent consumer here for several reasons! We used to do the grocery from a mix of Aldo, Fresh farm in Touhy and whole food for the brands that we are looking for but you can't find in like Aldi. Unlike the others, in Devon market, you can find a variety of everything. You will find a good price for fresh products with the good quality. Also, you have the chance to buy the good and top quality brands for like eggs, milk, etc. There is a sprouted whole grain bread that I had to drive to Wholefood to get it since the others that I used to do grocery, didn't have it. Once I found out that I can find here, I became a big fan. You can tell that the owner is looking for the high quality products to be included here in a small and squeezed version of like Wholefood and with a better price in some cases. And finally they have 10% discount for student which is another big reason that I go there. You can't lose that if you do a lot of groceries every month. I keep updating this review. read more

I've been coming here since 2005, so I'm well-versed in everything going on in terms of products, selection, customer service, prices, etc. Right now, due to COVID, they're no longer making the yummy crepes and fruit drinks at the entrance to the store, and the coffee and shakes are also no longer available (it's rather difficult to sip a drink or eat something through a mask). I hope they'll start making their pizza again, too, since it was made from scratch and really good. This store, however, remains a mainstay in my life because everything that I love to eat I can find here at excellent prices. The sheer variety is breathtaking: You can wander among the aisles for hours, which is in itself quite an experience, and check out a vast array of products from around the globe as well as tons of American and local brands and products. There is a massive display of wonderful fruits and vegetables. (There are also stacks of dried fruits and assortments of nuts.) The meats: I can't get enough of their steaks. The Beef Eye of Round Steak (boneless) is a staple in my home--a few minutes in a copper pan on both sides, and voila! Dinner is ready, served with a large homemade salad (comprised of plenty of fresh veggies), and a side of one of their deli salads, most of which are made in-house from scratch. There are also Middle Eastern "pancakes," soups, sauces, salads, several kinds of salsas, guacamoles, etc. The homemade biryani, hummus, tahini, baba ghanoush, harissa, pesto, schug are excellent. The deli here is not to be missed and is all by itself worth a visit to this store. There is a huge section of breads, cakes, and pastries that they bake themselves (their in-house baked pita breads are a real find and are usually located in the stands in front of the cash registers). I've recently come across seaweed snacks and other things that either can't be found or else cost a fortune at other places. The possibilities and finds seem endless. The employees here are often immigrants, whose customer service may not always align with our expectations of American customer service, but don't worry--they'll catch on. Most of them are lovely, and those who aren't: They'll learn. Have a bit of patience with them. After all, you really do gain so much by patronizing this wonderful neighborhood store. read more

This place use to be my go to for everything, however now that target opened down the street, one can really see how much this place price gouges. Products are literally twice the price here, and Target isn't what I would consider "cheap."
