World Fresh Market has a nice meat counter as that was my sole purpose of going in there was to check out their meat. I was surprised as they had everything fresh and ready to go. The butcher YaYa is excellent and ground my chicken breast fresh and also packed it very nice so I didn't have to re-package it at home before freezing it. I went to several other butchers who wouldn't pack the meat how I asked but YaYa without any hesitation agreed to do the job. They have a great selection of spices and also several ethnic breads made fresh locally that you can't find at your regular grocery store. Checked out this market on Devon. It certainly was better than we thought it would be after the first time going in. World Fresh Market has a few locations, including this one. Locally owned by a family. That's enough of a reason to shop, but they also have pretty good prices. Big place to get lots. It's not just Indian stuff. Though there's certainly plenty of that. A lot from other countries. Middle Eastern particularly. Also it looked to be fresh. There's a pretty big produce section. Got some things that compared to other places were quite affordable. It's a huge selection of stuff. It's clean. Their herbs, particularly the mint and parsley, are waaay better in quality than a western grocery store. They have a great selection of middle eastern breads (pita, marjouk, barbari etc.) from local bakeries. If you go at the right time, you can feel the heat, coming off these freshly baked breads. They also have a great fresh feta and olive selection and a variety of halal meats. read more

I landed here because Patel Brother's was closed for renovations without any notice of reopening. I was pleasantly surprised at the array of foods they had. I was particularly fond of their Mediterranean selections. Olives in a bucket were so tasty and economical. Also their frozen Mediterranean kebobs were out of this world, just like the fresh kebabs I had in in Turkey and Greece. The cashiers were pleasant. The foods are organized very neatly and the prices are very competitive. Overall, I had a pleasant experience and plan on shopping here again when my supplies dwindle down. read more

After a meal at Tiffin, I needed to find some asafoetida for a kitchari recipe I had and as we were parked in front of World Fruit Market, decided to pop in to see if I could find some. What a nice grocery! The fruits and veg were well-stocked and fresh. There was such a great variety of boring old American standards, your usual Mexican grocery store fare, and some fun and interesting International food items. On a whim, I purchased a pack of frozen Palak Paratha and now I'm addicted. Will definitely make a return! read more

You can not buy groceries in bulk from this store and take your groceries in a cart to your car. They don't have the coin system like Aldi. You have to lift the groceries because the store has put long rods on the grocery carts so that customers don't take them outside the store. Being a mom with kids it is impossible to shop here and carry everything. Legally the store should provide some one to get the groceries out of the shop to the vehicle. This place is crazy cheap, sells good quality produce and of course, all the spices and lentils you need to be a real Indian. The other day, I bought a gigantic monster of a ginger root for less than a dollar. I use a lot of ginger and this thing is still huge. Compare with Trader Joe's, where you have to pay about $1.20 for two stubby pieces of ginger. I could go on in this vein, but I won't. I stopped by World Fresh Market after wandering around Devon Avenue while eating a mango ice cream bar. From across the street, I saw boxes and boxes of fresh mangoes for $9.99 a box (for the long skinny yellow ones). I had to buy some, because I hadn't seen good mangoes anywhere downtown. After crossing the street, I saw that they had the rounder, red, yellow and green mangoes for $6.99 per box (of 12). Score! I was checking out the mangoes to pick a box to buy and the lady out front helped me trade out a greener mango for a riper one. She said they were all sweet, since she had just tried some this morning. Apparently they get a mango delivery every day. That seems like a lot of mangoes to come through one store, but that's what she said. I took her word for it, and took the box I had picked. I was going to buy them anyway, since they smelled sweet with the lovely fragrance of a ripe mango. When I got home, I cut open two of the mangoes and shared with my friend. One was sweeter and more ripe than the other, but neither were tart. The lady was right. I am so glad I sat through the long bus rides to Devon, or else I would have lived through a year without mangoes. I didn't really take the time to look around this store, but they had a decent produce section with fresh-looking produce. It lacks the glamour and variety of neighbor Fresh Farms, but prices are often -though not always - lower for fruits, vegetables, and dairy. World Fruit Market is a great place to comparison shop for these items (especially the yogurt, which sees regular sales). You can also buy meat here, though I've never gone out on a limb and done that. P.S., they offer coupons online. The current one gets you a free gallon of milk with a fifty dollar grocery purchase. Love this place. I was here looking for some fresh fruit and I found LOTS of it. So many varieties. Prices seemed very reasonable. I purchased some pears at 1.29/lb. Service was fast. Very good place to get fruit and veggies from. Vegetables here are so affordable. I also like that they have Middle-Eastern food (yogurt, cheese, sour cream, pita bread, and many more). I would recommend that they work on organizing the shelves more and expanding the aisles-as they are too narrow and only fit one cart. Oh, and their meat section was highly recommended by a friend of mine who assured me of the freshness. We bought organic chicken (tip: ask for organic though it's a bit more expensive than the other chicken) and it was clear that it was indeed organic from its taste after cooking. Quality varies, but you are going to have to search hard for prices this low. I stocked up on a week's worth of fruits and veggies for $20, the same amount would have easily cost $50-60 at a larger grocer. Many times, they carry the exact same produce (meaning same farm, same producer) for considerably cheaper. Some price samples: Avocados 2 for $1.00 Limes 8 for $1.00 Apples 69cents a lb Tomatoes 39cents a lb. The tomatoes at Dominic's average 1.99 - 2.49 lb! That's a considerable savings, and the tomatoes here are of the same quality. This is the place to go for Dates. They have a wide variety of dates, dried, sugared and in bulk. They also carry bulk, fresh peeled garlic, and specialty produce. I also like how the produce is labeled by country of origin. The dry goods are primarily Indian/Pakistani, Middle Eastern, and Asian. If you're unfamiliar with the cuisine, these products will seem pretty exotic, but its perfect if you're the adventurous type. Also, check out the bargains on Tea, Arabic coffee, and olives. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the space itself. It's rather cramped, sometimes it can be hard to get around boxes that are laying out on the floor, and within close proximity to the meat counter the smell is not all that appealing. I'd stopped in at one of this stores competitors to grab some fresh chives and a few other items, but since that other store isn't carrying chives at this time so I hiked down the street to find another store that did carry them. Upon entering I found myself in a really nice produce section that had pretty much anything I'd need, including the fresh chives. I grabbed a few other items headed for the check out line. Based on a previous quick stop here I knew they carried injera bread so grabbed a package of that too from up near the check out registers. The injera bread was $2.75 for 3 big pieces. It's flavor is good, but not as good as you'd get from an Ethiopian restaurant. I found the prices to fair and the selection in the store to be very good on produce and adequate on most other items. They seem to mainly specialize in items that would be of interest to the largely Indian and Pakistani residents in this area which makes perfect sense. I'm sure I will be returning here again since it is pretty conveniently located for me. read more

I sometimes come over to this part of town because they have really decent produce for cheap. Yet for some reason, I kept passing this place up. Finally, I stopped in there to grab some Romaine lettuce, a couple of apples, and a few other staples, and I only spent about $5. Not bad! It's a little bit of a challenge to check out the produce right at the entrance with everyone else trying to muscle by you, and there could've been some music, but that's ok. All in all, I was there for maybe 15 minutes - mostly bc I get conflicted with picking out my produce. read more

these days must check the expiration date. I bought mango/guave, 2 for $5.00 and the juice had expired. They have a variety in olive oil and spices with expiration dates of end of the month. Unless consumption is in the next few days and for large families this is ok. Months ago I bought Blueberry cake and within a day the fungus accumulated. Must also check on prices at the register. This grocery store is amazing. Not only do they have fresh fruits and vegetables, but this store also carries a variety of brands and products that you won't find in the area. What stands out most about this store to me is their customer service. I was looking to find ready made pizza dough that I could take home, roll out, and make a pizza with. I literally called 5 grocery stores in the surrounding area as well as a few local pizza shops to see if anyone was willing to sell their pizza dough, but none were able to accommodate. When I called World Fresh Market, the staff put me through to the supervisor. The supervisor told me they do not sell fresh pizza dough normally, but since they do make it in the store, he can make an exception for me and have it ready for when I need. How awesome is that?? As I requested, the bakery made me fresh pizza dough and had it ready for me at 8am the next morning for pick up. They even asked me if I wanted them to roll the dough out! Overall, I just want everyone to know that they will go above and beyond for their customers, and personally, that matters a lot to me as far as where I want to take my business. read more
