The city needs to close this grocery store permanently. They clean the mold off of moldy grocery and lie that the grocery is fresh. The fish they sell is rotten and smelled like garbage. Nothing is kosher here. Some items they sell have been expired for years. read more

I moved to West Ridge a little more than a year ago and began shopping at Ted's almost immediately. This really is a great neighborhood for global shopping and it's definitely true here. Their well-maintained produce section is always clean and stocked, their staff is really kind and considerate, and you can spend about an hour just looking at the jam-packed aisles. You might not find what you're looking for if you're shopping for some typical American basics, but spend a little extra time checking out the global cuisine. They have an impressive pepper selection, lots of great dairy choices from all over the world, an absolutely crazy selection of smoked fish and herring, lots of different kinds of meats and an amazing deli with insane deals on domestic, bulgarian, and greek feta as well as a killer olive selection. Ryes from local bakeries, so many specialty items and a really fun wall of Russian candies that are just beautiful to look at. They have expanded their meat counter and have an on-site butcher who's happy to cut your meat for you as you wait. Right now during Coronavirus I've noticed that they've been excellent at staying consistently restocked, keeping their hours, and staff has been nothing but courteous. It's truly a neighborhood grocery store and I'm fortunate to live in a diverse area filled with families and caring, considerate individuals. read more

Being Ukrainian American, I must admit this store has everything my taste buds crave every now and then. Great selection of ethnic foods from Eastern Europe! Quality produce at reasonable prices. Cheeses, smoked fish, salmon and herring of many varieties. Hungarian salami. Little smoke fishes from Latvia. Love this place and the good news is that the parking lot across the street can be used for patrons of Ted's Fresh Market. This is a fabulous grocery store in West Rogers Park. This is the epitome of what a great neighborhood market should be. Produce is always fresh and seasonal. The people are insanely helpful. And there's a pickle barrel filled with delicious kosher-style pickles. The produce prices are pretty good and there are usually a few specials which make for fantastic deals. It's the prices on things like milk and eggs that keep me from rating it 5 stars. The prices are just too high. Otherwise, though, everything is reasonably priced. There's free parking across the street, though I have yet to take advantage of it, as I live down the street. But it's definitely a perk in an area where parking is not always easy. read more

It's almost worth living in the neighborhood just to be able to come here daily... Ted's is my favorite grocery store in Rogers Park. Great produce, and an extensive selection of dairy products, cookies/snacks, grains, canned and jarred goods from around the world. Plus a deli, and some meats and cheeses. I think I spent almost an hour here on my first visit, and still have a hard time running in and out. Note - some of the cookies and biscuits they stock come and go, so be forewarned to stock up if you find something you love. (Or learn not to get too attached... :) They had what appeared to be a one-off shipment of the most perfect coffee flavored, lightly sweetened crisps from Indonesia that haven't returned :( Always super fun to browse the aisles here. read more

The produce looks always fresh, finally they have the best variety of organic milk, cheap eggs and fresh sausages . They are OPEN!!!! and better, cleaner, cheaper than before!!!! The produce there is so fresh and looks amazing on the new "furniture". the store has increased their product selection. they have added spanish and indian food section. still variety of eastern european foods. fresh breads and there is meats and cheeses in the deli section. noticable difference in staff as well as they are more friendly. I believe the store is doing very well with the new exciting changes. the parking is available across the street in the croation center parking lot, so dont bother paying for meters! and the store is open longer hours from7am to 10pm. If you are local to this area and often buy fresh produce (regardless of organic or not) and would like to save some money, it would behoove you to check out Ted's fruit market. It's a multi ethnic produce and grocery store. Just an example of the prices found on vegetables, I got a pound of loose mushrooms for $1.98, usually $3.+ at Jewel. Also about 14 bunches of garlic for less than $3 dollars (.89 cent a pound), usually $2.59 at Jewel. Mind you they are the same vegetables. If you are a bargain shopper you can look in the corner and find week old veggies that are on reduced quick sale since they are soon to expire. One can find many types of dairy products cheaper here than at the chain grocery stores. And if you are outgoing enough to try something different, walk the aisles and pickup a box of tea biscuits imported from Europe, roasted red peppers from the middle east, all kinds of goodies from many different places. During the gifting season you can find many stocking and gift bag stuffers and its cheaper to buy here than at chic trade stores which notoriously markup their stuff. read more

I am pleased as punch to have this market close to my casa. The produce/vegetables are fresh, good-looking and cheap. The folks at the deli are friendly and helpful. I got some horseradish mustard and mayo with a crazy character and some Cyrillic writing on it that make my taste buds explode. It is probably at other markets, but I saw and bought it here first. Bad store! Russian women who work in deli department are very rude and loud. Produce is never fresh and the store is very unsanitary. It has a very bad smell. A lot of european foods are expired or missing the expiration date on the package. If you ask the Russian women from the deli department to help you to find the expiration date, you will get yelled at. A total harassment. These Russian women are very mean and rude. Kate is the one of them.The girl with dark long black hair and red lipstick. She works in deli department. Oh, avoid this one for sure. Stay away from her. She is a really crazy one. This store is always empty. This store doesn't sell organic food. the fruits and vegetables look old and NOT fresh. I never will shop in this store again. In this neighborhood there are a ton of small stores that sell fresh produce as their main drawing point and a pretty decent selection of other grocery items also. Well Ted's is one of them. Literally about half the store is the produce section! I stopped in for a really quick shopping trip and didn't really do a lot of looking around, but they did have the items I was looking for and the lady who was my cashier was friendly. It will take a few more visits to decide for sure, but I've got a feeling that Ted's may become my go to neighborhood grocery store. When I lived in Chicago I would frequent Ted's regularly, and still do whenever I am in town. They have an impressive produce selection at fantastic prices. The interior of the Ted's Fresh Market since they reopened is much better than it used to be. Selection of fruits and vegetables is decent. Few times when I've shopped at this place, I've noticed that produce which they advertise on their window is of sub-par quality. I love going to Teds! Everything there is fresh and there are always workers restocking produce maintaining quality. It is by far the cleanest store on Devon street and has the most fresh produce at the best prices. They also have organic items and special items that you don't see at many grocery stores unless you want to go to Wholefoods where they rob you. Whenever I leave Ted's I come home with plenty of fresh produce and without spending all my money. Also they have a parking lot! I will never go to Fresh Farms again! Ted's sells fruit and veggies for much less money than Jewel and it's within walking distance of my house. So that alone gets them 3 stars. If you buy eggs here, trust me...you will be loathe to buy them at the Big Stores again. I often buy a dozen large eggs for somewhere in the .89/1.09 range. The deli counter is as clean as any I have seen, and their prices are reasonable. I buy smoked turkey here and I am always surprised by how little it costs. If you like lox, try the lox trimmings. They are very tasty and cheap! Not as pretty as what you might be used to...but still yum-worthy! read more

I've been a Ted's shopper since 1986 (that's before most of their current employees were born!) when i moved to Chicago. Went into 'withdrawal' when they closed for remodeling for quite a while! Other nearby places were not the same. Great produce, even organic stuff now. Competitive prices. Nice occasional surprise grocery sale items too. Open til late at nite -10 pm. And now free parking! Plus, they offer help to your car (as they always have). read more

BAD STORE ! I have to agree with the decor that sidney had stated but the prices and quality are not even close. Im sure sidney is an employee of Teds. I have to say it is clean and you would hope it is considering its been closed over a year and a half. There prices are steep to make up for that extra looks decor that most shoppers think how pretty. The produce buyer and presentation of product needs to be stepped up and the prices are out there. I would rather stay with City Fresh down the street where I can at least park my car and walk out with a good amount of groceries for under $25. Decor isnt everything people nowadays its about how far your washington can stretch not your benny. read more

When they were closed I tried several other neighborhood markets only to find that none have this variety. this quality of freshness, and this price. The customer service is great too as they have started to carry several items once I asked (plantains, a specific brand of yogurt etc) So happy they are back open and better than ever. read more

just moved to the area i love teds fruit market its close to my house and i dont do alot of cooking caz i tried the deli at teds fruit market. i went to buy half a pound of turkey breast the server sarah was so friendly instead of buying half a lb of turkey i bought 2 lb plus ham plus foreign cheese and some salad. from now on teds market its my store am giving it 5 stars read more
