I have been a patient with this practice for 35 years. Dr. Robert Lawlor was wonderful. Before he retired, he sent me a nice letter explaining he was retiring and that Dr. Costabile would be taking his patients. I had a good experience with Dr. Costabile for about a year, but one day when I was sick, I called to make an appointment with him and was told I couldn't see him because he wasn't my doctor. The receptionist said my "doctor" was a physician's assistant. I explained that I'd been seeing Dr. Costabile, but she said she couldn't schedule me with him. After several months, they offered a new young doctor and I saw him for a little over a year. Today, I called to schedule my annual physical and was told the new doctor was leaving the practice and I should call back in a month to see if they had hired someone else. The receptionist quickly gave me the names and numbers of two other practices. It seems Devon Familiy Practice doesn't want to keep their patients and is actively trying to unload some of us, so I'm looking for a new practice. read more

This is unequivocally the review since my physician for almost 30years retired. The first visit with her replacement, hardly worth the time. The arrogance and disinterest definitely made webMD or an urgent care center a better option should you get sick. There was no interest in taking care of my health, disdain for Medicare paying for a visit once a year implying it a waste of funding, just ticking off numbers on a lab sheet which didn't include monitoring things historically reviewed. Then dismissed as we didn't hit it off (told me a woman would be available soon) and now it would appear my access to the patient portal has been deleted. I've been going to Devon family practice for over 30 years. Stephanie who works in the lab was so unbelievably disrespectful and dismissive. I was completely taken back by her attitude. I can't believe that they allow someone to speak to their patients this way. My health and my situation is extremely important to me and I was treated so poorly and disrespected. Despite others telling me of their bad experience, I continued to go, but I now see why they have felt this way. When I voiced my objections to how she treated me, she kept over talking me, made me feel unheard and took zero accountability for her treatment to me. I went to one of the doctors, who unfortunately retired. She was great doctor, very caring. I have not had a positive experience with the new Dr - John Cugini - who took over her patients. Pompous condescending prick who did not take my concerns seriously and made it seem as if I was promiscuous and hysterical! I called the "office manager" to voice my concerns and she was just as condescending as he was. The office staff doesn't give $&£#. I may complain to the medical board. Having moved around the country with my employer, I have had many Doctors across the country, both good and not so good. I feel very lucky to be a patient of Dr. Soderberg who is not just good but is great. He takes the time to listen to you and to actually think about the proper course of action. He truly cares about his patients. He is kind, with a great bedside manner. For those of you who may not know, during the onset of COVID, Dr. Soderberg, at his own peril, went to New York to assist with the treatment of patients affected by the virus. Ive been a patient of Doctor Rocco Costabile for atleast 10 years now. He is an outstanding doctor who always takes the time to listen to my concerns and truly look for solutions. I currently drive 45 minutes to see him since he has joined Devon family as I would follow him wherever. He never passes his patients concerns off as too much or dramatic and always is trying to truly help. He also teaches his patients any results or findings instead of just telling them what they are. I have a lot of back problems and Dr. Costabile takes the time to teach me why I have certain symptoms and how we can make it better. There is nothing I feel I cannot go to him for and I never feel dismissed. I highly recommend him as a primary care doctor and plan to stay with him as long as I can. read more

awful voice mail system - truly awful. Makes you wait and then takes you places unwanted. Office closes for 90 + minutes at lunch time, so really only open for 7.5 hours. A good deal of time waiting in queue as well. Maybe they need a better system or additional receptionists? They really make health care hard! read more

Devon Family Practice is the BEST ever! Our whole family have been going to Dr Yeung for years, there's 8 of us. He is very knowledgeable, honest, kind and really cares about his patience. We've never waited more than a few minutes, he's very punctual. He takes his time with each patient and is very thorough. He's so relaxing my husband often will fall asleep in the chair. I have my fair share of issues, some have been evasive and complicated, and my personal GP is patient, understanding, and thorough. Best doctor I've dealt with. Felt it necessary to update my review as these folks redeemed themselves. After a rough start getting in, the doctors have been super & the staff nice. They spend time with you chatting & understanding what is going on, not rushing you out. They are definately a 8 to 5 operation but return calls & assist over the phone usually during those hours. read more

I'm not sure how you show your patients you care for them when their first points of contact (the secretaries) are not available to help. I tried calling the office at 11:50 am and received a message to call back after 1:30 as they were on lunch break. I call back at 4:05 and the message says it's the emergency service because the office is closed. The office is actually open until 5 pm. With service like that I am glad I am leaving the practice. read more

My family has been going to Devon Family Practice for 33 years. It was always about the family and their needs. The doctors really cared and extended themselves to their patients. In recent years there has been a significant change with how the office is run and the attitude of doctor-patient relationships. Trying to get an appointment is impossible. You could waste a half an hour and continue to hit the coded number and no "body" answers. The waiting period to "see" your doctor (or PA) is another half an hour wait. The parking lot is never filled so it is unclear as to where all of the patients or doctors are. Today put me right over with a very sick infant (who was in my care) and after repeated attempts to get through to the receptionist, I drove over. I was told that we could be seen at 3:30 but it was suggested that I take the baby to the ER or Urgent Care if he wasn't being hydrated. I said that on no certain terms would I take my grandson to the ER with this pandemic. The Dr. recommended I go if he had not had any fluids. I said I would be giving him Tylenol and Pedialite and wait to see how he fared until the appointment. Upon arriving at 3:30, there were six elderly people in the waiting room listening to my conversation with the receptionist who said I had cancelled my appointment (which I did not). Then, a sweet woman came over to me and offered her appointment to me and said she was not happy with the long waits for appointment calls to be received. I tried to refresh the receptionist memory that I was adamant about NOT going to the ER and never said I was cancelling this appointment. Then, the Dr. who was supposed to see my baby asked me to come with her to a room, where she scolded me TWICE saying: This is not a Walk IN! We have "scheduled" patients! I reminded her that I had an appointment and that I was shocked that she would not see a 6 month old baby given the circumstances of possible RSV or COVID. She showed me out of the room and into the waiting area. This scene was devastating to me as I have always trusted in Devon Family with my four (now) adult children, my in-laws, my parents, and my husband and I. Never did I ever expect to be treated so cruelly with times being as they are. I hope that this is reviewed and that Devon Practice never lets anything like today's events occur. Hopefully, they can make improvements regarding their scheduling and phone answering, along with remaining true to why they became doctors...to care for their patients. read more

I got in a car accident a couple months ago, and was having awful back issues. I decided to contact my PT and I was told to get a script from my primary.... anyways I knew I was gonna have to be seen either virtually or in person, so I called the office ( on a Friday, knowing I wasn't gonna get in till then next week, cause at work in Philadelphia and I was at work). I got a voice mail and left a message saying exactly what happened and what I needed. I got a call back a couple minutes later from this very rude lady, she was was treating me like an idiot, and was like you need see a doctor for a script. I told her that was the reason why I called. I was also told "well you're not getting a appointment today". I told her that was fine. She then asked me my best time I said "anytime after 3:30 cause I have work and I didn't want to miss it". She then said (not lying her words) "I guess you won't be getting in". I told her she was being extremely rude, and she was like "that's cause you're biting my head off". She then hung up on me!!!!!! I use to work for CHOP doing the same exact thing this awful lady is doing (verifying insurance and scheduling, scrubbing the DAR if the use EPIC), and let me tell you I and the ladies I worked with never treated a patient with this much disrespect. After covid is over I will be finding another practice because, I really got much stressful and worse even after I got an appointment. They don't care about their patients. All they want is get out of the office on a Friday at exactly at 4pm. read more

Impossible to get through by phone unless you take a day off to do so. Rarely get a call back when a message is left. The exception to this would be when I need to speak to my PCP, who usually - although not always - calls back within a few hours. Most of the issues are around the staff rather than the doctors themselves, but we finally got fed up enough to switch to a different practice after 50+ years here. read more

Dr. Lawyer has been our family doctor for 27 years now caring for me my husband and our three children. I can not say enough good things about this practice. In all those years we have only had to see two other doctors during a sick visit from the practice when Dr Lawler was on vacation and they were both as kind and caring as he. I like a practice where your doctor gets to know you and your not rotated through the staff; every visit being a different doc. I feel the older docs at the practice definitely set a standard as the younger docs come in to keep the practice the warm and friendly environment it as been all these years. My wife and I have never been treated better in a practice than we were at Devon Family Practice. The receptionists were very friendly and very helpful. The nurse did such a good job that I asked her where she earned her degree. The doctor who saw my wife was courteous and took time to explain everything until we were satisfied that we understood. The check-out staff were as friendly and helpful as the receptionists. Literally everyone in this practice whom we encountered acted as if we were the most important people in their lives. I've been going to DFP for over 40 years - first, when it was just Dr. Mackey and the older Dr. Lawlor. When I married, my wife and kids signed with Dr. Forsythe, and I did when Dr. Mackey left. The entire practice is outstanding - from scheduling, to the encounter, everyone is compassionate and caring. That phone will ring and ring and ring until I'm blue in the face. Most times, I end up writing up a note and dropping it off! So frustrating. I have been going to Dr Ferman for years. When we moved I thought I'd have to get a new doctor since the commute would be far. (40 mins). I tried a couple of local docs but they were not the same. So I am staying with Dr Ferman even though I have to drive a little farther to get there. I would recommend him if he's accepting new patients. read more

The doctors are of good quality, but you cannot get an appointment here easily. Every time I try to get an appointment, I have to call and leave a message (because no one ever picks up the phone) - then when you finally a call back, you have to call back again because they can't understand simple things like last names. When I called back, I got the answering service because it was their lunch time, starting at 11:30, and they aren't back until 1:15. They do not have convenient hours, and the staff has never treated me warmly or well. I have been a patient there for several years, and am considering switching doctors simply because of the front desk staff and their treatment of myself and my family. read more

Doctors are good, though I really miss Dr. Furman. Staff is nice and helpful IF YOU CAN REACH THEM. It has always been difficult to get through on the phones. We have dropped in rather than deal with the phone. They need an upgraded phone system with more lines and probably more staff to answer them. Their website is out of date with broken links and an inactive email address. I need to have an hour if I need to reach them. A website with some scheduling abilities and monitored email addresses for each function (referrals, billing, appts) would improve service dramatically. In the last year, I think they took on too many new patients. There are few sick appts available and you never know which doctor you will see. When Dr. Furman was there, we always could get a same day appt with him and he was excellent about calling back. On call doctors often do not call back...I have had times that I had to call a second time after an hour or more or seek other treatment options. read more

I'm a major wimp when it comes to Doctors as I suffer the white coat syndrome. Four years ago I required the immediate care by a primary care physician who I did not have at the time since recently moving to area. My parents have been patients of Doctor Lawlor's since 2002 and think he's an amazing Doctor however he was away on vacation and the next Doctor that had availability for an appointment was Doctor Soderberg. During my 1st visit in 2012 I explained to Doctor Soderberg my fear of Doctors and he was extremely nurturing listening and making me feel comfortable. To this day I'm thankful for his patience as well as his understanding with me. I truly believe that Doctor Soderberg cares about the health and well being of his patients. Of course I still don't like getting routine blood work done even though I know it's in my best interest however I'm no longer scared to go back for my follow up visit. Although, now I can proudly say my blood pressure readings are normal while having my vitals checked at the office and I thank Doctor Soderberg for that. He definitely is the best Doctor for me and I highly highly highly recommend Doctor Soderberg. read more
