Then I was handed off to the triage nurse Joe. He was super friendly, we were laughing and chatting the whole time and he made me feel very at ease. My nurse Courtney was the same. There was another patient there that was very unwell mentally and was screaming at the nurses and doctors over and over and every one of them remained impressively calm and composed. I was treated very quickly and aside from a long wait for some results, which is to be expected, it was a seriously great experience.

There is 1 more nurse that I wanted to mention, His name is Adam, when I was brought to my room, I had so much pain and forgot my charger, Adam went and looked for one and lent it to me, such a wonderful staff at Paoli. Also I want to thank Dr. Barrese he stuck with me believed me and kept going until he found out what was causing me such pain. The MinuteClinic company is filthy and money-hungry. I foolishly assumed they were in network with…read moremy insurance as part of CVS and didn't think I needed to check. Unfortunately that's not true, but I was never notified of that at the time of my visit. Real time eligibility on registration should tell them that, which protects both them and patients financially. Instead I was told that the vaccine may not be covered due to the CDC nonsense "but if it isn't it's only like $150 out of pocket". Wrong. I received a bill for nearly $400, $105 of which was for the administration of the vaccine. The NP was with me less than 5 min. Charging $105 for 5 minutes of time amounts to $1260/hour. That's absurd. The self pay rate is less, but you cannot receive the self pay rate once it's submitted to insurance. There's no available discount at all; you're just screwed. But hey, they can give you a payment plan to draw out your suffering! I will never utilize a CVS or MinuteClinic again. We all need to get back to mom and pop pharmacies that actually give a hoot about patients and their health. CVS certainly doesn't. Thank goodness this was *just* a vaccine and not a full visit with diagnostics - I can't imagine what that bill could look like. Make sure if you do go here you contact your insurance company directly yourself to know whether or not you're covered and at what level.

While I don't think anyone will find cancer a "wonderful experience", the doctors and staff of Paoli Cancer Center make it as good as it could be for the seven months I was treated there. First, the doctors. Dr. Szarka, trained at Fox Chase Cancer Center, gives off a schoolteacher vibe - Not the mean teacher, but the friendly, scholarly one. You feel comfortable asking questions, and you are confident with the answers you get. Face it - You're trusting your life with your oncologist. If you don't trust them, find another. The nursing staff is also outstanding. During those seven months, I had treatment every two weeks, at the center for about six hours a pop. The nurses would hang out with you (in between rounds), and it was just nice to get your mind off things. Naturally, they were also technically outstanding, but its always nice to having people you can relate to as well. The facilities were also good. The Cancer Center had its own infusion room, with each area having its own TV, and wifi access. Hey, you're sitting there for six hours, you get bored :) While I hope you never have to visit a cancer center, if you find yourself in our survivor club, I can say that you will be hard-pressed to find one better than Paoli's.

Since having two procedures done by Dr. Hove, I have since gotten fillers and Botox from the nurse practitioner at his office, Melani McGuire. Melani has a caring personality and is the only person I would trust with my Botox and filler. She takes the time to understand the patient's wants and expectations. I spent years setting up consultations to find a plastic surgeons office I trusted to work on my face, because I feel it's incredibly important to not rush into a decision as big as plastic surgery. I asked my cancer surgeon for the name of the best possible plastic surgeon that he knew of and told him I was willing to travel anywhere to get the best result in my follow up cosmetic surgery. My cancer doctor gave me 2 names of top plastic surgeons but said the #1 best guy is Dr. Hove. I was more than willing to drive 1 1/2 hours to Paoli Pa. to see Dr. Hove. Once you walk through the front door of his office everything is first class. Starting with the waiting room and the receptionist, through to the nurse and doctor every one seemed very friendly and competent. I remained awake during my surgery and there was absolutely no pain either during or after surgery. Dr. Hove explained to me that he would hide my surgery scar. Within one week after surgery my scar was invisible, I could not believe how fast is healed. The doctor used incredibly tiny stitches that brought the skin together perfectly. While in his waiting room I looked through a large photo album on the coffee table which showed before and after pictures of some of his patients. Some of those results were amazing, Many of his older patients looked 10 to 15 years younger after having their facial wrinkles and sags tightened up. I highly recommend Dr. Hove to anyone who needs cosmetic plastic surgery.
