We hired Devoe Heating and Cooling to install a new ductless mini-split system. Initially, we were impressed with Brian and his team. They seemed hardworking, responsive, and committed to getting the job done. He asked us several times to leave a positive review, and we said we would as soon as everything was fully installed and working correctly. Unfortunately, our experience deteriorated after the installation was finished. They only tested the system in fan mode after the installation. When we tried to run it, it would not run in heat or cool mode, and was displaying error codes. Devoe returned multiple times, replacing parts and ultimately concluding that the manufacturer was at fault and that the compressor needed replacement. They referred us to another HVAC company at our own expense, saying they did not have the tools to replace the compressor. The technician from the second company discovered that the equipment was fine, but the system was not working because Devoe's team had left the refrigerant service port closed after installation. Once corrected, the system operated without needing to replace the compressor. However, we then discovered a second problem: one of the units was leaking water down a bedroom wall. When I contacted Brian about the leak, his response was disappointing. He said, "Do I get a five-star review if I come fix it?" He also denied responsibility for the leak. When I said I could not promise a five-star review, he said he would not fix the leak, minimized how serious it was, and repeatedly asked for a five-star review. We had the second company come back, and their technician found two installation-related drainage problems causing the leak, which they corrected. We ended up paying $850 in total to the second contractor to fix issues related to the installation. Everyone makes mistakes, and I understand that troubleshooting complex equipment can be challenging. What concerns me most is not that problems occurred, but how they were handled. The combination of installation errors, refusal to take responsibility, and repeated pressure for a five-star review left us with little confidence in the company. As an addendum, I left this review on Google last week, and Brian replied; instead of apologizing or taking accountability, his reply focused on how we had previously said we would leave a positive review. He stated he could share photos of our installation (photos don't show the leak), reiterated that he is committed to high-quality work, said he doesn't like electric heat pumps, and then concluded, "But you go on your rant if that makes you happy at the end of the day." Brian has since taken down his reply, but I won't forget how he missed a chance to make things right. read more

I paid approximately $2,500 for a new AC installation. Before the installation, I paid a $140 service fee and a $1,000 deposit, then paid the remaining balance as agreed. During the installation, the transformer was damaged. I was told I would have to pay for the replacement, even though the damage occurred while the system was being installed. I ultimately purchased the replacement transformer myself. After the installation, I was told the system needed time to cool the house down, which I understood and accepted. However, the AC continued to have cooling issues, and we contacted Bryan shortly afterward to report the problem. He sent someone back out to inspect it. As the cooling issues continued, I was later told that additional Freon was needed. This was confusing because I had previously been told that Freon had been added when the system was installed. Despite reporting problems shortly after installation, I was then asked to pay additional costs for refrigerant and further service. What disappointed me most was not just the issues themselves, but how they were handled afterward. After paying in full for a new AC installation, I did not expect to be responsible for additional costs to address problems that arose immediately after the install. Bryan may have documentation and videos showing the system operating when he left. My review is based on my entire experience as a customer, including what happened after the installation, the damaged transformer, the follow-up visits, the ongoing cooling issues, and the communication regarding additional charges. I understood that and gave the system time, but the house never cooled properly. We would come home and the AC would be running, yet the house would still be hot. Initially, the thermostat had been set to a range of 70-80 degrees, which was later corrected when Bryan sent someone out to inspect the system after I reported the issue. While that setting was fixed, the cooling problem itself was not. Even after the follow-up visit, the house still would not cool properly and the same issues continued. During the installation, the transformer was damaged. I was told I would have to pay for the replacement even though the damage occurred during the installation process. My heat stopped working at the worst time and Bryan answered my call right away! He was prompt and was able to come help an hour later. He didn't pressure me into anything and walked me through what could be wrong with my furnace. He got my heat back up and running just in time for the holidays! Friends, stay away from devoe heating and cooling, I was swindled out of $820 and my furnace is broken after this guy looked at it This is my public google review and attached is the text he sent me this morning when I reached out to the Rotterdam spoon and asked a question about how much the part should of cost me In reality This guy has no clue about HVAC. I had what I thought was a bad condensate pump. Called Bryan to assess the job. He didn't have a flashlight or tools, asked to use mine. Red flag. Then he proceeded to use FaceTime for an hour to figure out the problem with his friend Jerry. Jerry is his installer apparently. Anyway that cost me 200 for the service fee and 2 filters and condensant pump line. Which he kept. The job turned into a major job a few hours later by text message. I needed a new inducer pump. He told me in text it was 585 plus tax 620 total. They go for 187 on Amazon where he purchased it. This was found out by a packing slip in the box he must of forgot to remove. Now we get into the cancelations. After the motor was purchased in cash. He said it would be Wednesday to Thursday afternoon the job would be done. Ok np. Thurday i get a text at 730 am He has to cancel because of the storm. Ok again no problem. Although the roads were clear and so was my driveway.by 2 pm. Easily could of made it but choose not to. So now we're looking Friday. Friday comes and I get a text saying Jerry can't make it we have to push it off till Monday. Monday was the eclipse, it wasn't a secret. Monday he's supposed to be here first thing in the morning, 1030 come and I get a text saying he feels it best to wait till after the eclipse. At this point I just wanted the part in my possession. So I politely let him now to drop off the part. He did so after he let me know he had been in lake placid for the event. Didn't knock on my door, just came and ran as my security system can show. Funny thing about cameras these days, they record sound. Anyway. This morning I posted a question on the Rotterdam spoon on how much the motor should cost. Did NOT mention his company name. Yet he found it necessary to text me to whine about it. So guilty conscience. Now I have the fun task of filing a harassment report as he would not stop when asked to do so,and taking him to small claims court for a part I can't have installed and can't return that I paid way to much for. Red flags everywhere on this guy. Beware. Fast forward to today. I had a legit competent company come in and I didn't have a bad inducer motor but a bad hose clamp and an ignitor that mysteriously broke. Bryan put us in danger, I would not recommend this company to anyone needing HVAC help. read more
