I can't remember how I learned about Tiedeman Park (TP), probably from some blog titled "10 Most Instagram-worthy Spots in Savannah" LOL, which probably led me down a rabbit hole of research, but I definitely added it to my list to explore. What I was most intrigued about TP is the pics I had seen of the lane of palm trees. I finally had the chance to check it out after running some errands in town. - Parking - Street parking. I parked at the extreme end of the park on Washington Ave and Atlantic Ave. The streets that run parallel to the park are narrow and seem like traffic lanes only. Didn't see any cars parked there. I suggest parking where I parked, so you can also walk the entire length of the park and back, to explore fully. - Activity / Trail Description - If you looked at the entire space in birds eye view, the green space almost looks like a yard glass. Stumpy bottom, long neck and a wide cup at the top. However, after exploring it, from looking at how the actual space is marked, TP seems to be only the wide cup at the top, if that makes sense. Not sure what the long neck area is part of or named and the stumpy bottom is Baldwin Park. For description purposes, the entrance of the park (the wide cup at the top) starts at Washington Ave and Atlantic Ave and goes all the way to the "stumpy bottom" at E 41st St and Atlantic Ave at Baldwin Park. I will call the "entrance" where I saw the park sign and also where I parked on Washington Ave and Atlantic Ave. The Savannah Arts Academy building is directly in front of it. What's really beautiful about this park is the long rows of palm trees that line the entire pathway on either side. This pathway crosses about 5 intersections, so when crossing, do so with caution because we all know how people drive! There are beautiful oak trees draped in Spanish Moss in the grassy areas and pretty large houses that face the length of the park that are nowhere near my income bracket LOL. They definitely keep the grass well maintained as the landscapers were doing exactly that during my visit. There are park benches all along the way to stop and listen to the ear piercing cicadas, although not very well shaded and probably why I was the only one crazy enough to walk in the park in this heat! - What I did - I walked the entire length and back on the paved path and I forgot to turn the Fitbit on from the beginning, but I did remember when I got to the end for the way back. It logged it at bout 0.18 miles, so that's one way to give you an idea on distance. - Heads Up - Park is pet friendly, but they must be on a leash. If you have kids, there is a gated playground at the other end of TP at Baldwin Park (the "stumpy bottom). There was a little square that was well shaded and equipped with benches throughout. If you're a history buff, there is a historical marker by the Georgia Historical Society near the "entrance" of the park of Malcolm R. Maclean who was a mayor for a short term, who lived nearby and was buried at the Bonaventure Cemetery. I'll definitely go back there in the "colder" months, LOL. Right now, the lack of shade from the scorching sun and the miserable heat makes enjoying the park very difficult, but if you like running in this heat or need to get your steps in, it's a great place to do it, while taking in the beautiful scenery. Just bring lots of water and stay hydrated!

If you love history with a side of gorgeous scenery, Fort McAllister State Park is absolutely worth…read morethe stop. Fort McAllister is a Confederate earthen fort built along the Ogeechee River to protect Savannah during the Civil War. It's famous for for withstanding multiple Union naval attacks before ultimately falling during a land ambush in December 1864. By capturing the fort, Union forces had a clear path to the city of Savannah and kick-started Sherman's infamous March to the Sea. Today the park contains a visitors center, a small (but jampacked museum), campgrounds, the historical fort site, and more. The museum may be small, but it's packed with in-depth exhibits. You'll easily pass at least an hour here if you really take your time to read through everything. I especially loved the unexpected Henry Ford connection to the fort. Walking the grounds of the fort was the real highlight though. Fort McAllister is one of the best-preserved earthen forts from the Civil War, and you can explore the ramparts, cannons, and earthworks. Whether you're a casual visitor or a die-hard history buff, this park delivers a great walk in history's footsteps. Highly recommend carving out a few hours here!

Not included in your camping fee/lot fee. I would suggest that you consider one price because it felt cheap that even to park RV on paid lot required a parking fee. Made no sense and felt very cheap.

I've been to a lot of Squares of Savannah over the years, including attending a wedding at one of…read morethem. It was this one, Columbia Square. That wedding was in 2009. I recently revisited this square, about 15 years later, and realized there was a Yelp listing for it (and other squares) so I checked in and decided to leave a review. How can I not rate Columbia Square five stars? My good friend's wedding was here. It was a lovely, intimate ceremony in such a unique setting. I've been to many weddings since then and the Columbia Square wedding still stands out. I'll never forget it. How many people can say they were married at one of Savannah's historic squares? The ceremony took place in the center of the square, next to the Wormsloe Fountain. According to the City, the fountain "was imported in 1970 from one of Georgia's earliest settlements, Wormsloe Plantation." Currently, Savannah has 22 squares. The first four were laid out in 1733. Columbia Square was laid out in 1799, part of the third wave of squares to be laid out. I believe Columbia Square was the 10th square overall. Compared to most of the other Squares of Savannah, it's one of the smaller ones. The reception of the wedding I attended took place in the courtyard of the adjacent Isaiah Davenport House. The Davenport House was built in 1820. In 1955, it was saved from demolition by the Historic Savannah Foundation. Since 1963, it's operated as a house museum. Also adjacent to the square, and across the street from the Davenport House, is the exquisite Kehoe House, built in 1892. It's known as a romantic getaway and is one of only six Historic Inns of Savannah. As for Columbia Square itself, it's just as beautiful today as it was during my last (known) visit 15 years ago. The live oak trees continue to be towering and majestic. They're the highlight for me. The square and surrounding neighborhood are picturesque. On this last visit, I parked for free on E President Street; I believe in space 4506, east of the square. The City enforces parking in this area, Monday-Saturday, 8am-8pm. We checked the parking kiosk nearby and for some reason, it was free during the time of our visit (Friday afternoon/evening). Fun fact: When I parked here, my car hit exactly 297,000 miles.
