Had a "smashing" time at The Breakroom Charleston. My friend's sibling was celebrating their graduation and invited me to check out this neat activity over the weekend. Beforehand you fill out an easy electronic waiver and upon entering, the staff checks you in. There's a side room where you pick out some stylish coverall suits (felt like a pilot or mechanic!) or long lab coats in various sizes. Once everyone in the party arrives, the staff goes over safety protocols, distributes gear like gloves and safety shields for your face. I like how they had additional Lysol wipes so you could wipe down the shield even more. They offer complimentary water as well which was appreciated to stay hydrated! There's a few rooms with different boxes of items to smash. We divvied up and took turns breaking wine bottles, broken computers (got to see the layers of a monitor!), ancient phones, cups, and more. There's an assortment of tools you can smash with like crowbars, hammers, baseball bars. At first it felt so strange and ~bad~ to break something intentionally with such intensity but after a few swings we got the hang of it! The protective gear and stylish coverall suits kept us safe so no harm in the process. The Bluetooth speakers meant you can play whatever music you want so rage on! My daughter and her cousin were dying to do this so I booked an appointment. They chose the Hammer Time Package with with tax was $84 for 15 minutes. They have overalls, complete head cover with face shield. While waiting in the lounge area I could hear them breaking things and I have to say it was little disturbing for I was worried they'd get hurt but didn't. They came out with so much excitement and fulfillment. They loved it. I totally recommend this place to release some stress or anger. Only suggestion I can say to the owner is place was dusty and needs a good cleaning. read more

What an amazing stress reliever! This should most definitely be considered a form of therapy, not just a recreational activity. They have different packages depending on budget and group size. Everyone get protective gear of jump suits and eye/ face protection. Our party of 5 had plenty to smash and more than enough time with the Red Rope Special. Lots of fun! This is the perfect way to get out some stress, channel that rage, let go of some anger, and laugh. I scheduled a session to surprise my son. Sometimes finding something new and fun to do together with a preteen/teen can be challenging. This was a great activity, we had fun, laughed and channeled any of life's frustrations into smashing the various things provided. The guy at the counter was very welcoming and helped us gear up for the session. We followed all the precautions and guidelines he gave at the beginning. Great date night idea, friends, meet up, or parent and older child. By the end my son was tired and when we left he had a big smile on his face. This was a really awesome experience - can't say we've ever done something like it! I went here with my wife, sister-in-law and her boyfriend. We ended up smashing a bunch of glass bottles and a tv, and had a blast. If nothing else, it's totally worth doing this once in your life. While we are all vaccinated, they clearly did take COVID protocols seriously. They had a clear system in place to keep everything clean, and each room is separated so you're pretty isolated. Only suggestion for the owners would be to have smaller sized gloves and helmets available. They will fit most American adults, but my wife and her sister are Filipino, so even the smallest gloves and helmets were a bit too big. So much fun! We went here for my husbands birthday to relieve some stress. We enjoyed smashing things while listening to our own music on the Bluetooth speaker. I needed a fun idea for my son's 18th birthday and this was it! They had an absolute blast. They got to smash a whole d#mn computer and it was amazing. It's a perfect outlet for teen boy rage... I surprised my husband with the Date Night package, and - OH MY GOD - this was SOOOOO much fun!!! Everything was clean (like super sanitized and Covid-safe!) and they even brought us an extra bucket of breakables! I loved that we could pair up with the bluetooth speaker so we could rock out while we destroyed everything. This was such a stress reliever, and so unique. I have to say, while the breaking part was fun, you pay an insane amount of money to break things for, what is supposed to be, 30 minutes. However, if you finish breaking stuff prior to the 30 minutes, then that's it. I paid for 30 minutes of breaking bottles, we got there, got the safety briefing, masks, gloves, and body suit...we were walked into the room with a small, very small, wheelbarrow of glass bottles. We broke all of the bottles in 8 minutes and was told that was it, the end. So in reality, we paid $114 for 8 minutes of breaking. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS! It should be a full 30 minutes of replenished bottles not 8 minutes and you're done. Waste of money, waste of gas, waste of time. Don't bother going here. read more

Went for the first time with the Courageous Kidz group (parents night for kids with cancer). What an amazing experience! We had so much fun breaking all the bottles and crushing computers and all sorts of things with baseball bats, sledge hammers and crow bars...what a great way to release stress and frustration! Looks like it was made to walk in and start smashing things. When we got there, we were told that they ran out of place settings for the package we bought... So they upgraded the package and added an electronic (a guitar amp)....it was quite satisfying to shatter bottles and amps with bats and crowbars.... It's only 15 minutes time.... Unless you get a bigger group package.... But for sure.... You expend a lot of energy over that time . Check it out... Go break ! It's a blast. read more

I had never been to a place like this but have wanted to for some time. I do have mom rage and my husband military rage so when he set this date up I was so excited. I really liked this place and it was our first time there. Staff was friendly, complimented my music choice and there was plenty to break. The only reason it's not five stars is because they only offered one glove size and mine slipped off a little because it was too big and I hurt my finger a little. Highly recommend this place. It was a surprising experience. It's like a mix of anger management, stress relief, and family fun in one evening outing. We took our grandkids for some multi-age fun. There were 8 of us from ages 14 to 63. What a blast!! The staff member here went out of his way to make sure we had a great time. They have all the equipment to make sure you can let loose safely. I couldn't believe how crazy fun it was to break all kinds of things! We were laughing non stop the entire time. It was exhilarating and oddly satisfying. It is a good way to have night out and do something different than bowling. My favorite smash was hitting a laptop with a hammer and then watching it fly across the room into a wall like a baseball. Who hasn't wanted to fling their laptop at least once? Great job Break Room! read more
