Good gym to train, decent equipment. Great staff. Just a few knuckle heads that don't put their plates back.

I paid a day pass fee and felt like I'd walked in to the absolute ideal of a serious gym. Super early morning and everyone in there was about business. Focused. But also polite and welcoming. The plate-loaded equipment is just what you want, combo of classic and modern. Power racks clean and sturdy. And all the plates organized and uniform. Next time I am in the area, I will absolutely go train there again. read more

First off, this is a gym and not a health club. People go there to train, not flirt. There are no locker rooms, no showers. There's barely a coat rack. There is a tanning bed, but I doubt it ever gets used. DF has every conceivable machine, bar, bench, or cardio you could possibly want or need. Some of it is worn from constant use, but everything is clean and in good condition. Every last client, from the biggest bodybuilder to the 70 year woman trying to just stay fit, is pleasant and friendly. Looking for a 'no judgement zone?' This is it. Whether you are a hard core power lifter or just someone trying to stay reasonably fit, this place will answer every need you have. To me, DF is perfect. read more

I do find that the gym is not really open when it comes to refunds on purchases training one on one. They offer no online deals classes or showers. The gym never checks the emails you won't ever get a response. read more

I was a member in 2019 and paid the year in full. After the year was up, they did not continue to charge me for a membership which is what I expected. However in 2021, I paid the year in full and once it was up, they continued to bill me and change me an annual fee, then late fees??. Then they told me I need to come in in person to cancel. When I was there- they told me there was no manager and I'd have to come back to cancel/dispute the charges. They gave me the number to the GM- when I called it, it literally just called the gym and the receptionist answered. ‍‍I'll never be returning there again lol read more

I opened a gym membership several months ago and never used it. I eventually moved out of the area so I called the gym to cancel my no commitment membership and was told I had to come in person to cancel it. I than had to wait several days until I had a day off of work to drive an hour and a half to cancel it in person and was told I couldn't cancel because it was 10 days before the billing cycle. They can clearly look in the system to see I haven't been there to use my membership. The woman Celia behind the the counter was extremely rude and I asked to speak with a manager and she refused to let me speak to one and said she could do nothing to help me. I asked her how she could tell me I couldn't cancel my membership and she said she was done helping me. I now have to go to my bank to stop payment in order to cancel my membership. I was a member there for nearly 3 years. It was always a lot shabbier than your average gym but I accepted that since it was so close to my house. Reasonably priced at $20 per month. Eventually, their lack of QUALITY cardio equipment reached its breaking point when 1 of their ONLY 2 elliptical machines broke and they didn't fix it for a few months. I decided to cancel my membership when they expanded. When most people hear that word "expanded" they imagine a place growing... adding amenities, creating variety, etc. Determined's idea of that word is to split all their equipment up, cardio here and free weights there. The membership that I had been paying for around 3 years was now only good for the cardio half and I would have to pay more to use weights. That's nuts! What gym would do that? read more

The staff is rude and incompetent. The gym has a very small locker room and no showers. It has very poor lighting.. not worth the price at all in my opinion. So many other great gyms in the area. Any one of them would be a better choice than this place. Don't even waste your time here. read more

I've been coming to DF for a few years now and it's my favorite gym! The Peak Fitness Boot Camp is the BEST! Aaron is a great coach and is very helpful with beginners. He showed me everything I didn't know how to do, repeatedly if necessary! I recommend everyone try it ! read more

I enjoy working out here because it's not crowded like most gyms. It's a friendly environment, the staff is great, and the machines are great too. It's an up-to-date gym to get your workout on. The best part of my membership is they offer free yoga. Yoga is great for recovery, stretching, and your spirit. I recommend this gym if you are looking to workout period! read more

Decided to check out DF. Sorry I did. The attitude of the employees was "as if" or yeah. No hello or welcome. I said I was there to find out about the membership. The girl behind the counter just flipped this booklet showing the cost while she barely explained the different pay plans. There was a guy behind the counter showing no interest at all. I barely understand the girl, she mumbled and spoke low. Asked if she would show me the lay out of the gym. She just looked at me , like what? She never came from around the counter and said oh you can look around. Showed absolutely no interest at all. I proceeded to look and was not impressed. No one seemed friendly or interested. To bad. I have been coming to this gym for a few weeks now for personal training. My trainer, Dylan, is great and helps me maximize my gym time. I have a chronic back issue but I am working out with careful supervision and I am stronger than ever. I am probably older than the average weight lifter ( I'll never tell) but I don't feel out of place. The gym is clean and the staff is very nice. read more

It's the cleanest, well equip, and best managed gym In Dutchess County NY

My problem with this gym is that it's tiny, yet they feel the need to charge you $30 a month if you even want to touch free weights. You can sign up for crunch fitness at only $10 a month and it's triple the size, probably even more!! (It's literally 2 floors). I have been going here for the better part of a year and then just stopped going cause I got busy. I decided to sign back up to only find out my account had not been frozen but instead, I was being charged for a gym I hadn't even stepped foot in to for a whole 2 months!!! So I go back and notify them of this issue and I let them know clearly how I had not been using the gym at all and yet I still had an on going payment that had been racked up to a ridiculous price of $60! FOR NOT EVEN BEING THERE... I asked the women at the front desk very nicely if this problem could be rectified and this is where I was met with the WORST attitude I had ever received at a gym in my entire life (and I have been to a lot of gyms trust me). The woman says "well you know you signed a contract" with her glaring eyes and flaring nostrils, she was infuriated at me for this and it was beyond my comprehension. She reiterated herself letting me know I signed a contract except this time it was with twice the attitude and anger. I remained calm and fought every natural instinct to lash out at her. This exact situation has happened to me at golds gym, minus the disgusting attitude, and They were completely understanding and they didn't even make me pay! In fact, they apologized, and I was able to resume my gym membership there with no problem AT ALL. It was fantastic. By the way, for only $10 more dollars a month at golds gym you get a gigantic gym with a hell of a lot more than just a weight room and a few lousy machines. SO YOU TELL ME THIS DETERMINED FITNESS, ID LOVE TO KNOW. WHY DO YOU ASK $30 OF YOUR MEMBERS FOR A GYM THAT IS THE TINIEST THING IVE EVER SEEN IN MY ENTIRE LIFE?! HUH? IM WAITING... ITS A DAMN RIP OFF BUT I HAVE NO CHOICE DUE TO TRANSPORTATION ISSUES BUT TO GO TO THIS HORRID GYM. 1. The bald trainer called max went around showing a random mug shot of to members and staff, and told them it was me. IT WAS NOT ME ! For this reason, i have a potential lawsuit against max and determined. max is easy to recognize; he's middle aged and bald, and is usually training young girls. 2. I've never seen the owners working out her, but i have seem them smoking cigarettes in the parking lot. 3. This gym used to be amazing. As soon as this couple bought it, it steadily got worse. They replaced good machines with bad machines. And ended long traditions. Truly devistating that such a great place was turned into garbage by people who have never been in a gym before this. I evetually left this beloved gym when i couldnt take their destruction any more. 4. Seeing all their recent renovations, i decided to give them another chance. I returned to find it even worse. They got rid of the rest of their good machines, replacing them with awful machines. And now that they have more space, they spread everything out in a way to maximize inconvenience to the members. 5. 3-4 years ago this was a 5 star gym. Unique, and designed for people who wanted to train. Now, i wish i could give it less than 1 star, and its designed very similarly to planet fitness. Plus, you get special treatment if you spend more time on your phone and taking selfies than you do lifting. 6. Most every other gym in dutchess county is better than determined. Personally, i recommend Crunch on route 9, Golds gym on titusville rd, Mike Artegas next to marist, or Worlds Gym in pawling. read more

I got yelled at for not putting my weights away, but I was still using them! Staff was rude to me. I've worked out all over the country, but I've never been treated that way. Some of the trainers are too loud, and I've been "spoken to" about not putting weights away...while I'm doing multiple exercises! Not coming back! read more
