I'm not even sure where to start with my review. I was in a very desperate situation that turned out to be a blessing in disguise. I was married on 10/7/2023 and Details Made Simple (Carla) made sure it was the most beautiful, and least anxiety provoking day. I had previously booked a Day Of Coordinator in March 2023. This DOC promised me the world and more for my October 2023 wedding. We'll fast forward to August 2023 meeting with my venue, I was alone and freaking out. My DOC (not Carla) bailed on me for the venue meet, and made me feel like I was panicking for no reason with a timeline that will be formulated week before wedding. (Again not Carla) Thanks to my maid of honor coming through with an amazing recommendation, I was given Carlas's number after feeling defeated and upset with my previous DOC not supporting me or showing up for me when necessary. After 2 hour conversation with myself and my mom, I immediately felt at ease with Carla. My concerns were validated as "No way should a timeline be started 1 week before event". With many tears had during our initial conversation, that night I slept the best I had in all my wedding planning with Carla coming to my rescue and the rest is history. Details Made Simple is just that, Details Made Simple. From hiring (DMS) that August evening to my wedding on October 7, 2023, I was in The best hands Possible!!! We had a few phone calls in the weeks leading up to the wedding, and the month leading up to the wedding, myself and Carla were in contact regularly. She never hesitated to answer and email, a text or a phone call. I received updated timelines in my email on the regular, she contacted any vendors with whatever tasks were still not done, to her absolutely loving on my 3 year old niece on my wedding day, Carla was like having an extremely organized "family"member take charge and make sure myself, my husband and my bridal party had nothing to worry about on the wedding day. My wife and I got married in May 2023, at Crystal Plaza in Livingston, NJ. We used "Details Made Simple" as a day coordinator, but they were so much more than that. Prior to the wedding, Carla Friday made sure that we were on top of our game. When we needed something, Carla provided great advice and recommendations. During the wedding, Carla and her assistant made sure that every detail flowed flawlessly. TBH, I don't know if any vendors were late or off beat, but it's because Carla was everywhere making sure everything was on point. She had to do at least 20,000 steps that day lol. Where do I even begin? My now husband (ahhh! still not used to it!), Juan, works in operations, and I'm a teacher, so we both understand the benefits of smooth logistics. We've all experienced a poorly planned event at some point in our lives, and since a wedding is truly about the love (no offense, nicely folded napkins), we didn't want any sort of logistical hiccups to rob us of our day. For these reasons, finding an organized coordinator for our wedding was TOP priority. At the start of the research process, we were prepared to keep our expectations high, ask questions, and certainly not settle. What we weren't prepared for however, was meeting and being blessed by the literal Queen/ GOAT of all things wedding and wedding coordination, Ebony Delaney. From the moment we first chatted with Ebony, we absolutely KNEW she was the intelligent, supportive, thoughtful, kind, and fun human we needed to help us execute the day (which she did flawlessly by the way). Each conversation, call, chat, and email thread was handled with the utmost care, and although we were working together virtually (thanks, COVID), it truly didn't feel like it. Ebony asked all the important questions, and provided answers/ solutions for our stressors. If you've read this far, I now feel safe admitting to you that I am a complete and utter control freak. There I said it. However, I felt ZERO need to take over with Ebony behind the driver's wheel. This incredible woman even joined us for our rehearsal, AND gave a stern talking to the groomsmen who were late (BLESS HER HEART). When our big day finally arrived, Ebony was timely, SUPER supportive, and solutions oriented. I mean she individually walked bridesmaids to the church from the bus so they wouldn't get wet from the rain, and was on standby during the couple's portraits to cover me with a coat between shots because it was freezing. Like, come on! #SORCERY. Each part of the wedding flowed into the next with ease, and Juan and I were free to enjoy each other and our guests. She even reminded me to eat and enjoy my signature drink! On top of all the logistical magic created, Ebony ensured that our families & friends, NYBG staff, and other vendors were happy and comfortable. I'm not sure how she juggled it all by herself, but she did, and with grace. Finally, Ebony was FUN. Her radiant energy kept me positive when photos took longer than expected in the AM, and she threw down on the dance floor, which was perfection. We worked with Alex from Details Made Simple on our wedding day and it was the BEST experience. My husband was initially skeptical that a day-of coordinator was needed but by the end of our wedding he agreed (emphatically!!) we could not have pulled it off without Alex's help. She thought of everything and constantly checked in to make sure we were feeling good and enjoying our day. Alex helped carry my dress train, fix my dress when a seam broke, set up our ceremony site, coordinate with all of our vendors, wrangle our friends and family, and so much more. I hired Details Made Simple for the last three months leading up to my wedding. I can honestly say it was the worst mistake I made. From our first in person meeting at the venue walk through, she was extremely rude and cut the other vendors off. She seemed to be the only one not taking any notes which clearly later reflected in the emails and texts asking questions that where discussed at the walk throughh My mother was asking the caterer a question and she rudely said I'll send you that information which she never received. When asked about rehearsal she said she wouldn't be there unless I paid a extra $350, you would think hiring her for the last three months that would be included. I had been getting emails from vendors with wrong information that she was sending them that I had to continually correct. She was trying to make decisions which had nothing to do with her, also put off work onto other vendors which was her job. The amount of extra work and stress I had to constantly fix consisting of her mistakes was unbelievable. She sent info on how much I should tip the vendors including herself and that she wanted them in the morning before I told her I would take care of the tips. The day of the wedding she approached me while I was getting my hair done and asked for the tip envelopes I again told her I would take care of it, she then asks where my purse was she would get them. I was very upset and told her again I would handle it. I later found out she then went to my fiancés again afterward and then hounded him for the tip envelopes. She is extremely money hungry and unprofessional. After the wedding I couldn't believe how many guests commented on what the planner was wearing. It was a black and white attire formal. She wore a bright blue jumpsuit and sneakers. I had given her things that needed to be done the day of. I ordered expensive flowers that she was given and instructed where I wanted them. I was shocked to see after the ceremony the flowers in the box on the floor in a doorway. I had specific things I would ask to be done the day of and she constantly just said yes, yes, yes- come to find out they weren't. I normally don't give such bad reviews but it was a waste of money and so stressful with her mistakes and unprofessional manner. I even had other vendors make comments to me about her not ever knowing what was going on and wanting them to do things that were her job. I hired them from reviews on the wedding knot which I now see are not truthful. I hope no other bride has to go through this with this company . It was so disappointing and added. This review is solely about how I interacted with the coordinator, Carla. Carla was great. She was cool, calm, and collected. She was pretty available for questions or concerns as far as I could tell. She obviously has experience and was prepared for the unexpected. Carla was the first- and BEST vendor that we booked, by far. It's hard to put in words all the amazing things that Carla did for us, both 3+ months out, and the day-of our wedding. There were hundreds of little details all along the way which she managed seamlessly, professionally, and without ever breaking a sweat, and always with a smile. If you are on the fence about booking Carla and her team as your day-of planner(s)- do it now- trust me, it will be the best decision you make as part of your wedding planning process. Carla was super organized, super friendly, responsive, and constantly reassuring. From troubleshooting logistics, managing our vendors, setting up our after party, including managing home grown flowers by a friend of mine, Carla was always calm, cool, collected, and, always went above and beyond to get things done. She truly gives 150% all the time and there is no problem she can't solve. After resolving any number of logistics for us, for example transportation coordination, she would always ask "is there anything else I can do for you?". She gave me so many great pointers, tips, and ideas throughout the year- this was invaluable to me, especially because I am the first in my family to get married, and have never been in a wedding. We communicated all year long via e-mail, face-time, and in person- and after each time, I felt excited, relieved, and knew that everything would be taken care of. Best of all I truly felt like I gained a friend :) On the day of our wedding, all of her hard work and organization truly shined. Our ceremony was in a church in my hometown, reception about 40 minutes away. Carla and LaToyah handled every detail along the way and they were always 10 steps ahead with great ideas at each turn. Carla was our day of coordinator but to be honest she was more than that. We booked her in February 2016 for our September wedding. From the day we booked, she did monthly check ins to see how things were going and what she could assist with. When time got closer, she was checking in every week. She also did a final confirmation with our vendors. She was always willing to lend a hand and her guidance. She came with me to our final walk through and knew the right questions to ask the venue. She truly made my vision come to life! She never felt like just a day of coordinator, she felt like more than that. She was someone by my side throughout the process and on the day of was very quick and efficient and thought on her feet! I mainly hired a day-of wedding coordinator to figure out the timeline, and to make sure that I wasn't the one having to tell everyone where to go and when. April ended up doing SO much more, and handling much more than just the day of. My husband Jeff and I were married this past Saturday. April was in touch consistently from the time I hired her last summer. She talked me down off many ledges, and listened to me vent when I needed to! It was wonderful to know that the timeline was set, and that all the vendors were confirmed. The day of the wedding, everyone commented on how calm I was. That's because April took care of EVERYTHING, even things I wouldn't have ever thought of, and didn't know I needed. She even helped remind the pastor how the ceremony should go!
